Ah, look at them! Wow Maria, they're great! That first guy is a little 'Phantom-esque'... makes me think of underground caverns and opera masks... And the penguin in the second seems to be thinking 'OMG they're HUGGING?! Don't look, don't look!'
Good Luck!
Many thanks, Chloe - glad you like them!
I do love your bear - ESPECIALLY his muzzle! As for correct proportions - who's to say - if it looks good, it's RIGHT
Catherine - your bear has such a sweet face, and
Lisa - what can I say - can't believe she is only your fourth bear.............
I guess we all now settle down to wait for the big brown envelope..........weeks yet! good luck everyone

Thankyou, Lisa - glad you like them. And I'm glad I'm not just starting out - my early attempts wouldn't have stood a chance against your little beauty!

Wow, the bears are all FABULOUS!!! They're sure gonna have a hard time choosing the 'new artist' section this year!!! I won last years newcomer award - I was sooooo happy and proud!!!
Anyway, here are my 2 entries for this year. On the left is 'Bracken' (who is also in the 2008 Artist Bear Calendar) and on the right is Lottie - my very first open-mouthed bear.
Below is my bear that won the 'New Artist' section last year....
Maria,
This is Awesome....great visual story and the penguin is a definite "Gotta Have"...WONDERFUL,
mIKKI
Bracken has a wonderful expression....much luck...........Mikki
Big thanks, Mikki! Did you have a peek at Jeremy's animation? A couple of friends have said the polars look like ice-skaters - which has sent me off at a tangent, thinking "tableau"...and I'm working on a "falling down" third bear - FUN!

Here is Yumee..
My first polar bear.. and not my last.

Wonderful creations everyone, I wish you all the very best with the competion

Ahh more lovely entries. Best of luck!! I'm glad that I don't have to choose who makes it to the final few.
Jennie that Jacket with the ears is just too cute.

Lisa
Wow!.... what wonderful bears you have all made and as Lisa said what a hard job it would be to choose.
Best of luck.

Sorry I've not commented everyone, my move to Uni has happened but I have no Internet! It's amazing how little I have to do when I'm without broadband... I may actually have to READ soon
It's nice to come back to so many entries though, but it is a little worrying as they are all so good! And Ellen, you're so nice I'd like to know a little more of the mechanics of bear making, as I still feel like the sloth and this bear pattern are mostly fluke... I'd like to be able to look at a pattern and say 'this needs to change', and I'd ESPECIALLY like to make decent sewn faces... wistful thinking at the moment!
Fingers crossed I'll have internet access at home in a few weeks, but I have bought a sewing machine to occupy myself till then
