Just wondering how you all display your christmas cards.

I put all of our cards in a basket, which is a tradition my Grandmother started years ago, because she could sit in her favorite chair & go thru the cards with the basket on her lap, then she would pass the basket to visitors too look thru also. She was using a walker when she started that, so it was much easier for her, then trying to hang them all up. I made a special basket for doing the same.

I have an antique wooden ladder that I use for holding quilts year round.  I use it for cards at Christmas. This is a picture from early on during last year's Christmas.

I don't. I read them, then cut them up for gift tags. It's kinda cool that I still have a gift tag from 1976 that my mom still puts on my gifts. I do save the photos though.

Yikes, Jennifer, I guess I shouldn't tell you that I have saved all the Christmas cards we've gotten over the years...yes, that's 36 years of Christmas cards. I just can't throw them away and I could never cut them up.

Okay, you all know my dirty little secret now...

As for displaying them, I usually put them on our dining room table in an old antique tin colander. At the end of the season I go through my list to correct any addresses that have changed and then I pack them up in a zip lock bag.

I too keep all of my cards!  It's not soooo strange is it bear_ermm

I used to just place them all over the house when they arrived but ast year I found this neat prim looking string with wooden letters spelling "merry christmas"and each letter has a little clothse pin behind it.  I hang it up in my living room and put all pf the cards on it as they arrive, they then become a decoration themselves!

   Sooo we have a bunch of christmas card hoarders do we?  I throw mine out after christmas, but until then I pin them on the back of my front door in the shape of a wreath and pin a bow on top.  But since i found TT, i will be saving the  cards I receive since I am on the christmas card exchange. I can't wait to receive from all my new friends.
thanking you all in advance!!

I use to put mine all over the place where I found room. this year I would like to try some thing different. Not sure what yet. I keep my cards and my mom use to make different containers out of them. Everyone has something different. Thats great!

I think I have every greeting card, regardless of occassion, that anyone has ever given me. A few years ago I separated them all by year (I ALWAYS write the date on the back of the card) and put them in zip loc bags which I labeled. OK..... I'm am totally insane, I know it!! bear_rolleyes

That's why earlier this year I decided the only ones I'm going to continue to keep are the ones from my hubby, parents and grandmother. Well, there are few other people who's cards I'll keep and if they have a teddy bear on them I'm definitely keeping them. So, I guess I'll still be saving all my cards. Oh, what's the use!!!!???

As for decorating: They've always gone in a basket on the kitchen counter. This year however I am MAKING a hanger out of rusty wire and clothespins. I'm going to wrap the wire in strips of homespun fabric in red and white. (It'll be like a long clothespin garland!) Then I'll hang it.... some place! Guess I'd better get on that! bear_laugh
