Has anyone or will any one of you all be attending the Expo in Washington DC this year in August? I received an e-mail about it and I am sure that you all have too. We have relatives that live in Virginia that we could stay with. But I was wondering if anyone had participated in it and what your opinion of it was.
Thank you!
I've done the show for 6 years and have attended in one form or another (as a collector, shop owner or artist) since it started. I think the show is going to be awesome this year as I keep visiting their website (http://www.dollandteddyexpo.com) and they have added a lot of new talent. The show "officially" opens on Friday to both shop owners and to collectors who have purchased the special Expo package. If you don't want to sell to shops, just say so when they ask. It's only for two hours this year but I think they have some other special things planned like a "Meet and Greet" or something so I can't wait. Also, on Friday they have tons of workshops you can take (I'm already thinking about one that I want to take) which I LOVE taking classes from other artists. On Saturday the show is from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. and on Sunday it's from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. It's a long weekend but really nice as you get to meet not only fabulous collectors but other artists that you've been chatting with probably for years! The Award Banquet for the Golden Teddies and the Dolls Awards of Excellence is in Saturday night and I usually go to cheer my friends on. It's great fun.
Feel free to E-mail me if you have any other questions.
Wow! Thanks Lisa. Sounds like it could be a blast. I defiantly would love to do it. Maybe we counld make a vacation out of it and just go and see what it's like before selling first
I sure will e-mail you if we decide to go!
Well if you do come up and make it on Friday Roxanne, remember if you take a class you can write it off on your taxes as a business expense and still get to see the show! Just a thought...
