For artists and collectors sponsored by Intercal...your mohair supplier and Johnna's Mohair Store
Hi everyone. I wanted to know if anyone had ever gotten mohair off e-bay? Is there a good seller out there that you would like to recommend? I know I would be better off getting mohair from an online dealer like Intercal but my budget right now is very limited & I want to get some mohair so I could "play around" with it before dropping the big bucks. I've also seen a lot of people cleaning out their craft rooms lately on e-bay & some really good deals on mohair.
That is a good way to start Nina if you get it for a good price. Intercal and other online dealers have some good deals if you look through the website.
I often buy bits and pieces on Ebay, if they catch my eye I've got some really nice mohair, but remember you don't get the precedence of saying 'Schulte Mohiar' or whatever in your listings (unless they told you what it was!) Also, it;s really irritating when you fall in love with some and then run out XD Limited supply, argh!
Hi Nina,
check out the sales at Intercal, and they always always have stuff for us on sale:

The nice thing 'bout ordering from Intercal? They always stand behind thir products, they are super fast, And bend over backwards to help you if you have questions or problems.
The other nice thing? You KNOW what you bought, can't always say that about ebay....
You don't have to spend alot to get alot at Intercal.
thanks for that link. I saw the sale page before but not that one. I was thinking about ordering some of the show samples that are at such a good price from them.

Yea that was one of my fears finding something I love & love to work with then never been able to find it again.
I've been buying and selling mohair on eBay for years with great success! If the auction doesn't state what mill (Schulte, Notron, Helmbold, LouBear, etc.) it's from and I'm really interested in the piece I simply EMIAL the seller. If they can't tell me.... well.... there will be more great deals to come along OR I just know that it's a One Of A Kind..... and I get bored of making the same thing more than once any way!
I also email asking how the mohair has been stored..... when I first started buying on eBay I got a piece that smelled like moth balls and another time a piece smelled like cigarette smoke. So now I'm careful about that too and ask in advance if the listing doesn't say. I also ask about cats as I'm highly allergic and know lots of folks have cats who love to curl up in those mounds of mohair! (I can't say as I blame them but......)
A good seller will usually provide any and all info related to the item for sale that they can.
As a seller I have over a dozen pieces of mohair currently on eBay and lots of great feedback from folks who have recently bought mohair from me. I've also found a couple of really great mohair sellers on eBay.
Just don't hesitate to ask questions, check feedback of the seller and then decide whether or not to bid/buy. I hope you have as much success as I have!!
Hi, have you tried Probear, they started a sale last Saturday and I got a great selection. Their catagory 1 is set at 0.24 euros a cm, so for about $5 +p &p you could get about 15-20cm, which as its a full width of material will make about a 10-13 inch bear, both SP1 and 16 are really nice, just be carefull though, £80 later, I could not decide, so had to have a few, sucker for a bargain and all that
At least that way you could play and it not be too expensive if it goes wrong

thanks for that link but I'm in the US & the shipping was way too high.
It is really too bad you could not make it to the Grapevine, Tx show this last weekend. I was there with lots of mohair. And it was being sold at half price! What a deal you missed.
Check the ebay stores for mohair also.

Thanks again everyone! Grrr I keep getting out bid on some really great deals I just got two pieces of Mohair from cabin_creek_designs & love them I would recommend her too she's super nice.
Hi, I bought mohair on ebay several times but I think my favourite sellers are not suitable for you as they are from Europe... But still -- one lady is http://stores.ebay.com/gelibaeren_W0QQs … 2222QQtZkm ("mohairstoffe" is the part you want) and she also has many things she doesn't have listed so just ask her. She is from Germany. This lady -- http://stores.ebay.de/Krumelbarchen is also very nice (also from Germany).
Anyway - German "teddy part" of ebay (http://spielzeug.listings.ebay.de/Teddy … ngItemList) usually has more items listed than the American I think...
