Tiger4.jpgTiger3.jpgTiger1.jpgMy husband and I finally decided we would adopt one of our daughter's cats.  He's a 7 year old male tabby, named Tiger, that just isn't happy at their house.  He hates our grandson and hides when he's around.  He won't even come on the same floor as him.  Corson has never hurt him, but he is loud and boisterous and Tiger does not like him.  He is the same age as our cat Thumper, so I thought they would be good company for each other.  After a vet check and a clean bill of health,  he came to live with us, yesterday.  I know Tiger really likes me, as he had stayed with us once before for a few weeks, (when they were between houses, but that was over three years ago at our house in Kemptvillel)  and he also comes running whenever we visit our daughter.

I was worried, however, that our grandson would be upset about Tiger leaving and I thought Tiger would be upset about being moved to a new location.  Then there was our cat - how pleased would he be with a new kitty?  Anyway, shouldn't have wasted time worrying.  Corson came through the door with Tiger's cage and said "here you go Nanny - Tiger is coming to live with you"!  Tiger came out of the cage, saw me and came running - it was as if he was saying "what took you so long"!!!!  Our cat Thumper sniffed him once or twice and that was it - now they sort of "high five" each other and as you can see in these pics, in less than 24 hours, Tiger has definitely moved in and moved on!   Now all he has to do is find a hiding spot when our grandson comes to visit.

Cats - don't you just love 'em!! The one thing I've learned over the years is that you can never predict how they will react to a particular situation!! bear_grin   It looks like Tiger has really fallen on his paws with you and it's amazing that he has been accepted by your other cat so quickly.  I'm so glad it has worked out well for you all!!
Hugs,
Christine

He's made himself right at home.  Now he just has to find that quiet, hidden place when your grandson comes. But who knows, maybe Tiger will react entirely different to him in your house.

bear_wub  Great cat story, we are a cat family, my one daughter has five and my other one has 4 now, she had six but two got out and simply dissapeared in the past 4 months. We think the one cat might be in someones house as he was so friendly. who knows, but your tiger is wonderful and seems quite content.
Good luck with him.

Pat,
Our daughter had three cats, originally.  Samson, was a rescue and had been a feral cat and was afraid of everything and everyone.  He got out one day, about 18 months ago and disappeared as well.  They were heartbroken, but oddly enough he turned up just before Xmas, after a year and a half, but won't come inside the house.  He just wants to play with their remaining cat, Lindsay - they were very good buddies.  Samson is in wonderful condition, so someone has been feeding him at least.
The neighbours across the street have fallen in love with him and are trying to coax him inside, to no avail.  The husband built him a lovely insulated shelter in their backyard as we've had some VERY cold weather, and he seems very happy there.  It's heated with a lightbulb and it's very cozy.   He waits for Lindsay every morning on our daughters step and they go off together.  Lindsay comes in at night and Samson goes to his shelter.  Cats are phenomenal creatures and I guess, who are we to know for sure, what makes them happy!

                                              hugs,

                                              Brenda

I remember when I volunteered at the Oakville Humane Society the favorite saying of the staff was "The pet picks the owner . . . . not the other way around."  It is sooooo true.   Tiger definitely picked you!  Enjoy him.   ~ Karen

Dear Brenda: I'm so glad you got thumper. Sometime cats don't like a lot of noise and activity. That happened to my cousin who can be loud. So My aunt took the cat in and the little kitty is happier for it....Glad the transition went well.
