i believe a while ago, I posted a question from a gentleman who was looking for help to make "OrganBuddies" he just contacted me again, the following is his email:
"Well I have not heard anything from the eight publishers I sent a copy of the Organ Buddies Children's Book my wife and I wrote. Although it's only been about 4-6 weeks since I sent the book copies out, I am thinking about going for it ( i.e. self publishing the book that will be accompanied by an Organ Buddies). So I need to start once again in pursuing potential makers of the Organ Buddies. There has got to be a way of having these stuffed toys made in the USA on a ship/order request as you mentioned. Could you please ask your contacts via your chat page for some direction for me? I truly greatly appreciate any suggestions."
There was a link on this page somewhere about going from individual to mass production, I sent him that link and he has not received any reply. I don't know how many organ buddies would be ordered, but I am thinking of helping him out. Are there others out there that might be willing to help out? What I am thinking is if we can get a few people to make one style, we could work something out with him. I really feel bad that I don't have the time to do this full time for him. Sounds like a wonderful program he has started. The following is the initial message I received from him:
Hello Ellen,
I am writing to request your direction in finding someone to made a series
of stuffed toys my wife and I created several years ago called Organ
Buddies (
www.organbuddies.com<about:blank<http://www.organbuddies.com<about:blank/>>).
19 years ago I had a life
saving liver transplant and in the mid-ninety's my wife and I create these
stuffed toys to help pre/post-transplant kids. We were both pleasantly
surprised that the interest of our Organ Buddies was amongst adults as much
as kids. At the time, (1995) ,I found lady to create our prototype, found
companies for the various materials for the toys, and found a small
non-profit manufacturing company in NC that was willing to made small
amounts (50-100 units) of the organ buddies. After the second year the cost
of the short fur for our amounts became to costly and we had to stop making
our Organ Buddies. Because of the new website page we have been receiving
request for our toys. I started looking into having them made overseas, but
that cost still regards high quantities, and I really like the idea of
these stuffed toys being made in the old USA. Can you please give me any
direction on who I can contact to have these toys made? Any advice would be
greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your time and consideration regarding this matter.
If anyone has any thoughts or suggestions that I can send on to this guy, let me know. I am at a loss here.
