Website

That's eBay for you!! I had someone hack into my account and post a Mercedes Benz motorbike under my name after they nicked my account. My bear was on £400 at the time so I was not a happy bunny when they pulled it.
They have rules and they police it rigorously..and if they don't there are some who will do it for them. I just stick to the rules then they have no excuse to pull my auctions ...
I am sure the 'no links' thing applies only to UK auctions ..I may be wrong though..I never post my links anyway ..just in case.

I am sure customers will know what is happening with your bear and will bid again.

Rules are rules and it is very obviously stated that you cannot have any website info listed.

Hi Kim.  How very very frustrating for you.  I had a similar experince with my website attached to a photo and my auction way pulled.  Someone must have reported you bear_angry

I'm not sure, as ebay policies change frequently, but they may allow you the relist without charging again for the listing fee.  Ask them.  It can't hurt.  Infact use ebay live chat located on the home page.  They are very polite to work with.

I do hope it works out for you. bear_flower

The same rule applies to eBay.com. I'm going to venture to guess it's universal, in all countries, on eBay. Would make sense. And it is for the reasons Melanie stated.

I too learned the hard way... it happens... but as you learn the rules don't break them again... someone will be watching you. Sadly, I think there are a lot of people, general eBay users, not eBay employees, who take joy in "policing" eBay and reporting people. We've talked about it here before.

Kim - I wouldn't worry too much about what others may think for your auction being pulled. Its pretty well known now that eBay is getting more and more dificult to deal with and the changes they are going through are obvious. If you relist on eBay you can simply say in your description that the bear has been relisted because you didn't know about a listing rule that says you can't have your website address anywhere in the listing and it had simply been on one of your photos. People aren't going to think you are some kind of criminal.... don't worry about it!! Though I do understand that "I've been a bad girl" feeling. We shouldn't allow eBay to have that power over us!!!!!

Kim your bears sell brilliantly by themselves - all the bears you showed on your website were sold really quickly so if you want to put two fingers up at Ebay you could - it was great when you got started but people know you now AND of course you have your first fair soon which will open up a whole new clientelle to you.  (Get those fab business cards hubby did for you out  bear_whistle )

Now breathe and relax ........... don't want that babs to arrive early now do we  bear_grin

Kim,
I once had ebay pull a listing. When they knew they made the mistake (and not me) they in turn totally botched the "fix".  It was a nightmare and one of the main reasons I just don't like to use ebay. The inconsistencies out there are beyond ridiculous. Don't sweat it, the bidders will understand totally.

Now, about the "rules".  Ebay doesn't police anything folks, if they did the scammers, shill bidders, & bogus bidders would be taken seriously and stoped all together.  The police are the other users and well, there's something to be said about nailing someone for one slip up in a single photo.  It's most likely someone who frequents the category and likes to police everything  bear_rolleyes  Too much time met up with the hands bear_wacko

Hugs to you Kim!

I had mine pulled for saying "see my about ME page to find a link to our website", or something similar, which was at one time within the rules, but now is not.

Chrissi is right - They rely on members to turn people in.  It's been happening quite a bit lately in the bear category.  bear_sad

If you have ANYTHING in your ad about your email, your site, or even MENTIONING either of them I suggest taking it out.  They will get pulled eventually and you'll lose your listing fees.

I haven't had anything pulled from Ebay before since I usually don't list there but seriously who has the time to sit there and police Ebay. I certainly don't. I can't even imagine looking through tons of listings just to find something wrond and tattle. Some people!  bear_rolleyes
I wouldn't worry about it Kim. Your bears are outstanding and I bet the same bidders are eagerly awaiting for you to list Fluer again! Hugs!

I had a listing pulled this week myself.  I have only sold a handful of items on eBay so I am nowhere near an expert.  Santa brought my 5-year old the V-Smile video game system with lots of games and extras.  Unfortunately his two olders brothers told him the games were "not cool" and were for babies.  So the system was played maybe twice or 3 times.  I packed it all up in a storage box and put it away.  This week I came across it and decided to try selling it.  So I used the words "like new" in the title cuz guess what?  IT'S LIKE NEW!  The next day I received an email from Ebay that they pulled my auction for some lame reason about spamming with those words "like new."  Luckily it turns out the credit card I had listed with ebay was expired so I don't think they were able to charge me for the listing.  So Ha Ha on them!

But there are policemen out there in eBayland doing evil things and I think that's a rotten occupation.  These people have nothing better to do than cause misery for other people because they are so miserable themselves!

Hi Kim,so sorry to hear this happened to you.I got my crocheted teddy listing pulled in 2005 under the vero program.I would have never known that thread bear was a copyrighted name as this was how crocheted bears were described in the teddy mags.Well  I was sooo embarassed I could have burried my head and body for that matter in a hole!Instead I appologized for my mistake and never used that description again lol.I think we should all be careful now how we word our auctions,I know I will!Keep us posted if you should get any refund but with ebays policy I'm sorry to say I doubt it very much. Jenny,I know that must have been a terrible experience, but I had to have a giggle when I heard it was a mercedes motorcycle! What nerve people have and I don't see any new policies that will protect anyone on ebay.Kim,I'm sure everything will go fine when you relist your teddy, your bears are beautiful!....Sharie

thanks you guys for being so supportive, im not in a flutter about it like i was yesterday, i know it was my own fault and rules are rules but we all make mistakes and its not like i was harming anyone.
i have relisted fluer and she has a few bids already.
its saddens me though to hear so many of you have also had "petty" ebay experiences, i suppose we all have them or know someone that has had them at one point.
well, ill be policing me from now on making sure i dont make anymore daft mistakes and give those poor ebay -policers a bit of a rest, they must be exhausted!

thanks again, your messages have really put things into context and im all cheered up now   bear_grin  bear_grin  bear_grin  bear_grin  bear_grin

ugh..that would be frustrating..you would think theyd send a warning and give you a chance to remove it yourself first..i suppose its more work for them..and we all know ebay want to do as little work as they possibly can for the largest profit!!

I actually reported an auction a couple of weeks ago..i was looking in sculptures and there was a chinese one of two people at it..absolutey nothing was left to the imagination..i thought it was a bit over the top and not appropriate for kids to see..I don't know if anything was done about it cos i didn't go back to look (once was enough thanks!!)..so sometimes it is good that people are reporting stuff..but the stories in here show some people take things a bit too literally..i mean a website on a side tag...good grief.

I hope you can relist it for no extra charge!! Let us know how you go.

So, just so that i'm perfectly clear.... you are not allowed to put a link to your website on your ebay listing here in the USA?  I'm pretty new  to ebay but I've been putting a link to my website in my listings.......nothing happened, but now maybe i'm thinking I just got lucky?  If I  do the "about me" thing , I can list my website there?  PLease tell me if this is correct, I don't want to have a listing pulled, but I really liked linking my auction to my website, I figured if the item didn't sell, it was inexpensive advertsing for my website. bear_ermm
