Badger....noooo go to a zoo!! You DON'T want to meet up with one!   :twisted:  :twisted:  :twisted:   I saw a wild life tv show where they were trying to trap some bears for tagging and weighing.  Huge logs were used to build the thing...a badger had gotten trapped and EATEN his way out!  A beasty to be respected!!

here in the US the Red Squirrels chase out the greys!!  They are VERY territorial and DON'T like to share.

For the record...badgers are really scary and dangerous creatures.  Yup, I've seen one up close and personal when I was young.  They are mean, snarly, and very scary.  And when you are a child they are HUGE!  Luckily I was smart enough to get away and run back home to tell my Dad.  It scared him just knowing there was one on our property and my Dad wasn't afraid of much!  I never saw it again and I wonder if my Dad went out and shot it. 

I've been reading about the squirrels and laughing.  I've had squirrel, rabbit, pheasant, snapping turtle, practically anything that walked, crawled, swam or flew!!  Until I moved out to California I thought that was NORMAL!

Well, I've learned something new - I didn't know there were badgers in North America.  I googled them and they are even in the area we live, but endangered and probably not something I would ever get to see, as they are nocturnal.  I thought badgers were only in Europe.  They do sound nasty -sort of like the fishers, (I wish they were endangered LOL!)  At least they are not as plentiful in this area as they were when we lived near Ottawa.

Leeann, when we lived up north, all we had was the red squirrels.  We were there for almost 20 years and just about when we moved, we started to see the odd black squirrel.  They were starting to move in.  I remember the first one I saw was a big deal.  We also didn't have pidgeons.  Guess they didn't like the weather.  Having said that, I don't think I've seen a pidgeon since we moved to Newcastle, either - just seagulls and Canada Geese.  It is really interesting to hear about all the different animals we come in contact with.
