This story came from a friend of mine in rural CT.
The Napping Dog
An older, tired-looking dog wandered into my yard; I could tell
from his collar and well-fed belly that he had a home and was
well taken care of.
He calmly came over to me, I gave him a few pats on his head;
he then followed me into my house, slowly walked down the
hall, curled up in the corner and fell asleep.
An hour later, he went to the door, and I let him out.
The next day he was back, greeted me in my yard, walked inside
and resumed his spot in the hall and again slept for about an hour.
This continued off and on for several weeks.
Curious I pinned a note to his collar: 'I would like to find out who
the owner of this wonderful sweet dog is and ask if you are aware
that almost every afternoon your dog comes to my house for a nap.'
The next day he arrived for his nap, with a different note pinned to
his collar: 'He lives in a home with 6 children, 2 under the age of 3 -
he's trying to catch up on his sleep. Can I come with him tomorrow?'

Love it!!!   I know the feeling with two under 3!!! Exhausting....
He is a very smart old boy.
That is an adorable story!
And they say you can't teach an old dog new tricks. This just shows you how clever animals really are.

How absolutely gorgeous, what a wonderful story
Great story ! ! ! I know I have been blessed by the kindness of strangers. How sweet of your friend to help the poor doggie have a respite from the chaos.
Hi Karen,
What a wonderful story! Poor thing needed a quiet space to sleep Our cat, Thumper, used to do the same thing, when we lived in Kemptville. He always disappeared in the afternoon. One lunch time, I was out chatting with a group of neighbours and Thumper wandered over to us - I assumed he was coming to see me - NOT! He waltzed up to an older lady in the group and she leaned over and said, "are you ready for your nap?", and Thumper went straight to her door! I told her he was our cat, and she apologized, but said he came every afternoon to their door and she let him in for a nap. Over the years, I also found two other older ladies, living on their own, that he visited on a regular basis, quite a way from our house. Animals seem to sense where they are welcome and needed, that's for sure.
hugs,
Brenda
