Hello Everyone,
Well I don't know if it's just me but I just can't seem to figure out how Ebay decides how to rotate clients on the Featured Page of the Bears and Dolls Artist Section Page. I have noticed just in the last few days that a couple of people seem to be at the top of the page for days at a time. This is so strange to me. Anyone else noticed ?
Hummmm~~~

I "think" it has to do with your ebay settings right now. They added something called "best match" at some point ( not even sure what the heck that means really...) but I think that's what might be keeping certain pages in a fixed format. (????) Anyone else know for sure??

PS...I looked up "best match" and it seems to be totally related to those service star ratings you're asked about when leaving feedback. Do most people leave those or just skip over them? If your buyers are skipping them I guess it affects that search feature. (???)
Thanks Chrissi it is so hard to keep up with all of the new Ebay changes. I just couldn't understand what was going on.
Hugs
Bonnie
Hi Bonnie,
It is very annoying that "best match" shows up when you do your search, but you can change this
by clicking on "customize display" on any of your search pages...scroll down a bit on this page and it is just underneath "advance settings" choose one of the options, then click apply...you must be signed in to do this successfully.
I have mine set to show "newly listed" items, so you can then see each bear as it is listed by time and date...hope this helps.
I think you are right Chrissi, and I think they are rewarding their top sellers, but at a lot of expense to other people. I for one HATE that ebay "best match" thingy. I just don't know WHAT they were thinking with that! I often search on antique bisque dolls and it used to come up showing the ones ending soonest (on the Canadian ebay site, so it was different than ebay.com) and I thought that was great as I could quickly scan what was ending right away (and not miss something good) and then I would click on the newly listed stuff. Now with "best match" coming up it takes me an extra step to do what I want to do, which might not be so much of an issue - although still an irritation - except that I am on dial up so each little thing takes that much longer. The "best match" is SO totally useless! Guess what comes up first the most often there when I am searching for antique dolls - NEW crocheted dresses for dolls!!!! So TOTALLY not what I am looking for! Even if I was looking for clothing for my antique dolls (but then wouldn't I search under doll clothes???) I would be looking for antique or vintage clothing NOT something someone has just made! And what makes Ebay think they know what is the best match for me anyway (and they so obviously don't!). Ebay needs their heads examined - I'd sure like to give them a piece of my mind!
Hello! I have my set the same as Denise to show 'newly listed', that way I always see the newest bears as they are listed. You can easily change it from 'best match' to 'newly listed' (or whatever you'd like, there's several choices including ending soonest as well) where it says Sort By: Just click on the the little arrow and it gives you the option of how you would like them to be sorted
Hope that helps!
Thanks so much, Denise and Kimi - I didn't realize that you could change what is displayed - I guess because I didn't change it to show "Best Match" ! I just assumed that we could only change it once it had come up as that, not control how it shows the first time! This is great - now I can just ignore their silly "Best Match" and pretend it doesn't exist!
Dear Bonnie, I can tll you how this happens. I sell a lot on ebay, because I am a frequent seller, my feedback as a seller is excellent, and I think the biggy is that I am very careful about what I charge for postage. I only charge the actual shipping fee, no markups there. So when I am a couple of days awa from the end of the auction, I am usually near the top of best match. so yes they are rewarding their good sellers
