Here are some pictures from the Maine Teddy Bear Show Ice Cream Social held on Friday night before the show at Wells Beach near the venue. It was the perfect evening.... great weather, great company and great ice cream! (We ate our ice creams before the cameras came out so there are no photos of deliciously large ice creams to tempt you!)
Left to right: My Dad, Aline Pepper (Felted Dragon), Betsy Reum (Bears in the Gruff), Ellen MacMaster ('Em Bears), Pete Eppolito (Edinburgh Rep), just the face of Bill Reum, David MacMaster, Me, Gail Hancock (Bear With Me Enterprises), Jen Carson (The Dragon Charmer)
Terry Parker (Deb's hubby), Debra Travers & Skye not Maisey.... not sure whare I came up with that name.. sorry Deb! (Hearts Ease Bears), Sandi Rexford (Snowy Day Bears) and hubby Skip.
Phil & Lynn Gatto (Limerick Bear)
A few were camera shy but all had a great time!
Photos of the show to come in a separate post!
I adore that photo of Phil and Lynn! wha a great shot!! and thats SKYE in my arms daph!!  deb
Sorry......... I have no idea what I was thinking! Must have been a name someone suggested when you were naming her. Or is that someone else's dog here? Jeesh, I can't keep up!
Yeah, I love that picture too! They are spending the whole week at the beach, staying in a gorgeous inn... no wonder they are smiling!
GREAT to see Betsy! - haven't seen her since I last did Sch'bg 6 yrs ago -
and I just HAVE to ask - Is that a 'possom clinging to the bear's foot, Ellen????
Funny angle!!!
im sure she'll get over it ! shes a happy little dog! i spent a fortune at the flea market but got some cool stuff including 2 stieff bears and a stieff poodle!
Phil and Lynn deserve all the happy beach days they can get and i will only be a little bit jealous! deb
I am so jealous of that coastline. It's just beautiful and I would love to live near the ocean!
My first thought was "that's Skye," but reading on I thought it must be another pup. My little Scottie, now 6 months old, is Maisie. That's probably where you got the name, Daphne. As I recall, Deb and I both posted pictures of our new pups about the same time. Skye looks like she's enjoying the beach.
Marlys, it dawned on me some time in the night last night that Maisie is YOUR dog!!!
I've always been terrible with connecting names to people, dogs, etc. Doing shows and having at least 30 artists AND their spouses/friends/helpers to remember plus the regular show attendees/collectors that come has made me a bit better but obviously I have a ways to go!
It was so relaxing and peaceful to walk the beach Friday night and I too envy those (like my parents) who live there! It's just beautiful, the air is so refreshing and my allergies let up and there are very few bugs...... yup.... just wonferful!
That is a great picture of Phil and Lynn. It was so great to be at the ocean. My stay wasn't long enough.
I had a chance to play with Skye. She is a good little dog and so sweet. I thought about trying to steal her but my cats would have made me give her back when I got home.
Daphne, I imagine that you can't remember everything with all the details of putting on a show. I sometimes call Harley and Maisie by the names of our passed Scotties...sometimes I even use the kids names and that really gets me funny looks.
I showed the coastal pictures to Allyn. He said, "I thought Maine was all rocky." I said, "So, parts of California's coast is rocky." Now I just have to search info on Maine and send him pictures. It's good to plant little seeds with him and then just let them sit. Pretty soon he thinks it's his idea...so when he says, "Let's retire to the Maine coast," I'll just say, "Allyn, what a great idea."
The Maine coast gets pretty rocky further north but the southern part of the state has gorgeous sandy beaches! The water is a bit chilly until August though.
I'm going to have the pic of the Gattos printed this week and send it to them so they'll get it when they get home. It's just such a great shot!
What a fun time! And I am here roasting in 100+ degree weather. At least Luann got out of it for a few days. Super photos, Daphne!
Looks like a ton of fun! I love the beach when you can wear a hoodie...that's my favorite time!

 Thanks for sharing the pics... nice to see some fellow teddy bear artists enjoying the beach!
I love the coast too - especially the beaches. Where we live is inland and often as windy & rainy as the coast (it's up a river a couple hours from a rocky coast, so we get some of their weather). Unfortunately we don't have the sand, the sound & smell of the ocean, the beachcombing or the seagulls.... at least when I see your pics I can dream!
Daphne I cant remember her name and i have only two dogs! never know which one im calling! and Sandi Skye loves her aunt Sandi who was sooo nice to her!
she got cookies and kisses at the flea market! came home with a swelled head! but she missed her big brother Snickers terribly and hes been chewed on jumped on and snuggled to death! she just came in from the kennel ( daddy's mowing) with four bright green feet! where is that ocean when you need it?!
deb ps any recent pictures of Maisie? i was asked about the differnec in scotties and westies and wasnt really sure? size? pigmentation?
I love the beach when you can wear a hoodie...that's my favorite time!
Chrissi - That's my most favorite time too. I'm not keen on lying on the beach and getting sand places I didn't know I had, but early evening with a cool breeze, sweatshirt and bare feet in the water... ahhhh.....
Unfortunately we don't have the sand, the sound & smell of the ocean, the beachcombing or the seagulls....
Melisa - You've got me missing it already!
Deb - westies aren't as long bodied and their muzzles are shorter too - they are bit more compact. And their coats are a tad different in texture and grow longer and...... you two need to start a new topic for westie and scottie owners to post pics... would be interesting to see just how dif. they are!
Yes, Deb, Scotties have a longer, lower body, I think. They gave a long snout but with the beard, when it finally grows in, it looks like a square. I believe their ears are bigger, but that may be just because Westies have more fluffy hair around the face. They are cousins, afterall, and terriers, so both probably have similar personalities.
Right now Maisie weighs 14 pounds. She shouldn't be more than 17 or 18 pounds. But I'm not sure she'll get that big since she was the smallest in the litter. She was spayed last week. I worried so all day. She was groggy when we brought her home, but by the next evening she was running and jumping. Joseph says she doesn't know those staples are for surgery...she thinks they're [INVALID] piercings. I haven't taken pictures since her surgery; she can't have a bath til after the staples come out.
Skye looks like a bottle brush with a nose and eyes! she is 12 lbs now and im hoping she doesnt get any bigger than 15 or so..i had a hard time getting used to the longer body..she counter balanced very easily when you scoop her up! will wait for pictures! deb
Hey Daphne. I emailed Allyn about 20 links to listings in Wells, Maine, yesterday. Oh, the lots are so pretty and wooded and spaced. Allyn emailed me back saying that he'd just been wondering how we could retire to Maine. That really surprised me as retirement is a ways off and he's not intrested in even discussing it. He was really impressed with those coastal pictures. Now, I just let the idea set and every once in a while send him something interesting about southern Maine.
My folks have thier condo on the market..... you could have a summer home... test the waters so to speak... see if its really where you want to retire to..... they are in Kennebunk.
If we could afford another home we'd buy it in a heart beat. They are in a gorgeous area!!
Apparently my husband and I drove by your parent's home on our way into town for the show. Your dad stopped by our booth for a little chat and said he saw "Snobear" drive by on Friday afternoon.
Thank you Daphne for sharing your photos of some of the Teddy bear Artists and a glimpse of the Maine Beach.
Hugs
Carolyn

Oh, Daphne, that would be wonderful. If we could afford it, I would do it in a minute. But at least Allyn's thinking along those lines. I mentioned that we might think of driving to Maine for you show next year. He won't fly but isn't crazy about driving either. But he has told me to really think about it. We could ship the bears and I could spend time seeing a bit of the area. That would be wonderful, too. I'm thinking.
Sandi - yup... Dad mentioned that to me!
Marlys - July 11, 2009.... ship all you want! What about a train? I have no idea if there's a train that goes all the way from there to here but there is an Amtrak station right near the show!
Daphne, thanks. I'll mark it on my calendar and check out flights/trains.
I would love to do my first show knowing there'd be people there I know.
Ahhhh . . . bears, cool beach, and dogs! What a paradise!
