Hi Everyone!
Phew! Does anyone want to unpack some boxes!
Our studios are ***almost*** up and running again in our new home. I'm able to get some stuffing done and my sewing machine is set up. I feel like I haven't sewn in ages - and i hate that feeling! lol.
We have moved about an hour north of where we lived before in San Diego. We are now in a new city called Menifee, which I am really enjoying. It is much more spread out, and I can even hear roosters in the morning. We lived in San Diego for 13 years, and I forgot what crickets sounded like! lol
I hope you all are doing well. This is a pic of the windows of our studios. I love the red tile roof.
Time to stuff!
Hugs,
Erin
Wow! It looks beautiful
This should be a superb place to concentrate on sewing and designing your gorgeous creations
Looks gorgeous Erin. How exciting for you and your family. Enjoy my Dear!
Hugs Louise
 Congratulations!!!! I hope you can open the windows and bliss out to the sound of crickets while you are stuffing  Congrats on your new home!!!
Wonderful! I hope you really enjoy your new home and even more enjoy getting back to your sewing.
Hugs, Jane.
Thanks! I really like it here....except for that big earthquake yesterday!
Hope you weren't too rattled! How big was 'big'?
Congratulations on the new house. Settling in seems to take forever.
About the earthquake, we felt it here in the desert. The epicenter of this 5.4 was Chino Hills, about 30 miles east of LA, and about 85 miles west of our little valley. Locally, they said it was on a little know fault, but I don't recall the news saying what fault it was. It felt like a slow rumbling shake to me. I felt it even before the dogs.
When we first moved here the local paper posted seismic activity on the weather page on a weekly basis. At least here in the desert, there are anywhere from 300 to 900+ earthquakes weekly. Most are just so small that they aren't felt by most people and usually aren't reported on the news.
WHen Allyn moved to the desert for a job, I stayed in the Central San Joaquin Valley for more than a year so Ashley could finish her senior class with her friends. Allyn would come home weekends. He was home during the Landers Quake, a 7.3, which is a pretty big one. Luckily, Landers is in the high desert and not densely populated and there were 3 or 4 deaths. But up in Corcoran, 350 miles north of the epicenter, it really shook us out of bed and seemed to last forever. When things settled down, we realized 1.5 feet of water sloshed out of the pool.
Here in Indio, we are about 7 miles from the San Andreas Fault. It runs from below us up the state. The San Andreas is where they expect the "big one" to hit though they don't say which area of the fault.
What about everyone else's thoughts on the earthquake?
Congrats on the move, Erin . . . looks like a wonderful home!
Your new home looks looks wonderful, Erin! I hope that you are all settled in soon.
That earthquake was the strongest I've ever felt after living in CA for 13 years. It was strange as this time I heard it before I felt it. I thought a truck was coming down the street, and even when it started shaking it didn't dawn on me like "Hello! It's an Earthquake Erin!". lol. Jack was standing in my studio talking with me when it started and we both sort of looked at each other and I said "Wow that's a big truck!". Then it really started shaking and the whole house was creaking and he said "it's an earthquake!" and he ran down the stairs, the cats ran, and I was still sort of like "huh?" and freaked out. Then I got up, ran downstairs, and by the time I got to the door it was over. It lasted much longer than usual, and it was much stronger than I hope to ever experience again. We just moved into this house a week ago, so Jack says "well at least we know it can withstand a 5.4". lol.
I was finally able to finish stuffing a few bears, which I've been trying to do for quite a while. Yippie! I'll get caught up eventually. I organized my studio, but I still need to paint, and I'm looking forward to that.
Time for coffee.
Looks like a great new home, Erin. I know exactly what you're going through. I've almost finished unpacking boxes from our move on July 10th.
