hi guys dont know if anyone can give me some advice.

i have sold to bears to the UK where i still have a registered bank account and people can pay into my account on the net or go to my bank and make a deposit, and i have a bank account here in portugal, but can anyone tell me how to receive a payment if someone from the I.e states/australia etc wants to buy one of my bears.

really stupid but i hadn't even thought of it before so if anyone can advise me or tell me the best way i would be grateful.

I use PayPal too... for almost all my transactions. bear_thumb   It's quick & easy and provides some protection - just be sure to read their buyer & seller protection policies.

Hi Susan, bear_flower

Warm greetings from sunny Ditton!!! (many thanks for your PM - I'll reply very soon!)

I had the same worries as you a little while ago and found opening a Paypal account was a good way to go.  Another way that I have tried
was by being paid by an International Bank Transfer I think it's called, but Paypal is probably the easiest. Good luck!

Hope all's well out there!  Will speak soon.

Hugs

Yes, Paypal is the easiest!  Here in the States, we get charged HUGE fees for bank to bank wire transfers.

Along with all the others, I use PayPal too.  I find it very easy and the fees are not high and when I transfer the monies to my bank account it is done within the 3 business days like they say.

As a buyer I will only use Pay Pal. I have been burned too many times.
I think for sellers as well it's your best bet. bear_original

Nothing more than paypal - this is the only way for both parts - sellers and buyers - you can trust in - paypal is super!!!!

I also have sold to several overseas countries and payment was made through Paypal with no problems.  That's the method I would recommend.

The good thing with paypal (forgive me if someone else has pointed this out) is that if you request payments in american dollars and leave the money in the account to pay for merchandise in American dollars, the fees will/can be low or nil.  Well worth a thought.
Go with PAYPAL. you wont regret it. Honest. Your customers will be able to pay from their paypal accounts, bank accounts or credit cards.  It turns the internet into one big local shopping complex.  bear_thumb

Here's a hint.

Go to your bank and open up a second account that's separate from your main account.  Make sure you get an ATM/debit card to go along with it.
If your regular account is in good standing they probably won't charge you anything.  Keep a minimum amount of money in the account at all times.  Maybe $50 or $100.
Use this account for things on the internet and do not use your regular account for the internet.

This gives you a couple of benefits.  The most obvious thing is that it insulates you from any security problems that might happen.  If somebody breaks into that account you only stand to lose $50.  Your household account won't be brought to a standstill while the bank investigates any allegations of fraud.

Second, it gives you a real convenient way to deal with PayPal over the internet.  You can "attach" that card to your PayPal account and use it as a conduit to get money in and out of your PayPal account.

If you need more money in your PayPal account you can transfer it up via the bank account.  You can also siphon off extra money and keep it in your bank account so you can use it for other things when you need it.

That's what I do.  bear_thumb
