MB-wksp-2.jpgMB-wksp-1.jpgMB-wksp-3.jpgThe past few weeks were very busy for me. I traveled 1 hour each way every day to teach 28 7th graders how to cut/sew/finish a Moon Bear. It was rewarding, frustraiting, exciting, enfuriating, challenging......what other words can I say? The kids were excited, and for the most part, listenend. Of course, things didn't always go well, and I ended up 'repairing' most of them the night before the last class. The biggest problem was the sewing machines.... schools don't really use them and they sit. We started with 7 working machines, ended with 2 that still worked. plus the 2 that I brought with me......if the schools would just keep them cleaned!!!!

Anyway, the pictures are of the last day as they stuffed the bears and then they had group pictures taken.

Kudos to you for doing this!!!  bear_thumb I teach art to students in Kindergarten through eighth grade and as much as I'd love to share the joys of bear making with them, what an undertaking! But now you have my mind going..."hmmm...seventh grade can do it?"

How very brave of you. Looks like everyone enjoyed the experience and the bears are cute.

i actually find this quite funny. bear_grin in my home consumers sciences class the other day, we were learning how to sew....and to me, everybody seemed like idiots because i already knew how to do it.

Well, yes, I guess I was brave (or foolish)  for doing this, didn't realize until after and I start thinking about all that happened!.......and, Bearyfun732, most of the students were idiots and did not know how to sew........that's a reason the machines kept breaking!  bear_tongue  It would have worked better if I had another week with them, but I don't know if I could stand to be with them that much longer!

Actually, for their age and skill level, I think they did absolutely great! and, I will be mailing letters out to other area schools offering this opportunity to their Home & Careers classes......................
