leatherpaw.jpgHere's my latest creation in my quest to improve the cats. Small change, but a big step ;-) It's a realistic leather cat paw. I used a mold I created from a real cat paw, from the mold I made a latex pad and covered it with real leather and then stitched it in to create a realistic soft cat paw for all four cat feet. I feel it's a real improvement from the ultra suede paws I have used. Next I'm going to use realistic artist glass cat eyes for this new cat.  I hope to have him completed by this weekend but I'm not going to rush things. He'll have realistic whiskers and a open/close mouth. I'm excited, this cat is a real stretch for me and very interesting to create!

It's beautiful, Karen. It looks much more like a paw created by a mama cat than a paw created with stitches and leather. Don't know how you do it:)

I bet the hardest thing was getting the cat to cooperate with the mold process  bear_grin

Marion and Lee Ann,
IT took a lot of love and petting, a quick paw press into a clay mold and cat fish afterwards. Luckily my cats are used to what I do and know I'm an odd sort bear_rolleyes

I must've missed the real cat paw mold when I read your post the 1st time. You definitely must have some very patient cats. I can't see mine even letting me come near them with a tape measure let alone some clay to stick their paw into....treats or no treats.

I still remember the last time we moved (25 years ago) gathering up my  cats in the new house and pressing their feet into butter and putting them outside. That way they didn't just run and get lost but had to take the time to clean their feet and get used to their new surroundings. they weren't impressed I can tell you.

Karen, you are so talented and creative; it's not fair that you're brilliant, too! I know this cat will be magnificent.

for anyone thinking of doing similar (moulding) I recommend this stuff -

http://www.polymerclaypit.co.uk/acatalo … pound.html

it works the same way but is less akward than clay, doesn't stick and is really easy to use.

I used some to mould my chinchilla's paws. The moulds were then reversed to make paw print jewellry  bear_grin
