Just when things have been going so well, I have a (new) buyer who wants to cancel her ebay transaction. I have never had this happen before. She emailed asking me to cancel it by "mutual agreement". I have no idea how to do this - when I checked on the ebay resolution center it sounds like if I cancel it it will look like I am the one backing out of the transaction - which sure doesn't make me happy! I do want to make sure I get my final value fees back but I don't think there is any way to get the listing fees back - I gather you can relist for free (but I don't think that includes the photo charges) and it is only free if it sells the second time.
Needless to say I am rather bummed out about this. I have emailed ebay's help center and hopefully they will be able to tell me what to do.

That would be annoying, though I'm sure ebay will help sort it out. I've had to phone the ebay help number once and they were really helpful, as i've found that most times i've emailed them i just get a system generated reply that has little to do with my question. Hopefully you'll have it fixed by now  :hug:  :hug:  :hug:

It's an auction that's ended, Melanie Jayne, so not cancelling a bid but cancelling the transaction. I looked around in the Help section and it doesn't look like there is a place for a bidder to cancel a transaction, only a seller, otherwise I would have asked her to initiate it.

I took your advice Off The Paw and phoned the ebay help line. You are right they are much more helpful than emailing so I have sent in the cancellation of the transaction and gotten my refund on final value fees. Now I just need to resell the bear.  bear_sad

That's brilliant!!!   :clap:  :clap:   So sorry she's had to back out of the transaction, but really pleased you could get your fees refunded. 

Where do you find the help phonenumber?  I've needed help in the past, but only got stuck with their (mostly useless) general help format  bear_sad

Debbie, I can never find the number anywhere on ebay but when Off The Paw mentioned calling them I thought that was the way to go and then I remembered that Cyndee had put the number on a post in a previous discussion about calling ebay so searched and found it. Here it is for you - 1-800-701-3229. I didn't have to wait to talk to someone and the lady I got was so polite, sympathetic, and helpful - not at all what I had come to expect from ebay!! I'd definitely do that instead of emailing them in future!

When I've had a question, eBay has always been most responsive to my personal requests for answers, yet I've read too many doom & gloom stories online which appear to be anecdotal. It seems easier to agree with the masses and pass on stories that one has heard who put down eBay than to actually try them out on a one-to-one level.

I fill in eBay's online form describing my situation/question and am immediately given a number to call, which goes right to a real live person, with the power to problem-solve and REsolve any situation I given them.
I've always had every question answered and every situation resolved, before they let the conversation end.

eBay too often gets a bad rap because we sometimes pass on what we've heard, instead of finding our own answers by going directly to the source for our own solutions.
