I never thought I would say this but I think I need to start a blog for my business. Long story-but it's too difficult to update my website and I've received a lot of requests from customers and other artists for a blog. With a blog I can show pieces in progress and make daily updates. I'm considering blogspot, typepad or WordPress. Anyone have other suggestions or any experience with these? I will need to show a LOT of images  bear_happy It will be kind of a funny blog since I live a rather strange and funny life but what the heck

Karen, I think your blog will be quite interesting. You make such unique creations, and I know people will want to know what that is like and what you are like.  bear_smile

I have had blogs on both Blogger and WordPress. Feel free to visit my bear blog (link below); it's a WordPress one. I'm learning the ins and outs of it and am hoping I can customize it more as I go along. I just figured out that I could have my blog posts automatically publish on Facebook. In the text of that blog you'll find a link to my adoption blog, which is with Blogger; I find it easier to update and work in.

I'm sure others will chime in, too. Let us know when you're up and running, and if you'd like to swap links. bear_thumb

I've used Blogger, Wordpress and Blogengine.
I like Wordpress because it has the most options but it is also not as easy as Blogger.
My teddy bear blog is with Blogger and it's working for me for now so I think I will stick with it for the time being.
And I'm looking forward to your blog too!  bear_original

I use blogger.  It is easy, I post lots of pictures.  I find it a lot easier to follow others' blogs if they are in blogger.  Let us know, I would love to follow your blog.

Hi Karen!  I started out with Blogger and for some reason the format didn't work for me.  It feels very limiting.  I now use FreeWebs and I really like it.  They have options for you to have multiple pages, like the photo gallery page for instance or the calendar page.  Basically, you name the pages yourself and add as many as you like.  I also like the fact that you can go in and see how many visitors you have, what country they are from, how long they spent on your site and how they got to your site.  You get to choose what page you want your visitor to see first and you can switch it very easily whenever you like.  Editing is super simple.

The only down side is that there aren't any templates out there for freewebs that can be purchased.  There are quite a few free ones to choose from but unlike blogger you can't find any "extras" on the web anywhere.

If you click on my link you'll see what mine looks like.  It is super boring but I try to keep it up to date. bear_rolleyes

Hope this helps!

I've really enjoy using Blogger for mine.  I'm not always the most tech savvy person, but it's easy so I haven't had any problems.  I also, like Joanne, really enjoy following other peoples' blogs and Blogger makes that REALLY easy with a "Follower" option.  That way I can keep up with my favorite blogs without having to search all over for them and visit ones that haven't been updated lately.  Love it!

I'm another Blogger user, it ties in with Googlemail too if you have that, which is an added bonus

I use Typepad...you do pay a small monthly fee but it's very versatile and easy...even for an eejit like me!

I definitely am pretty dense as to the hows and whys of computer technology and I created my own blog with blogspot.  I certainly haven't used all the bells and whistles - it's just the basic stuff, but it works okay for me.  You have access to much more with blogspot than what I've done, but I kinda enjoyed fooling around with it.

Oh, just to save confusion, Blogger accounts are the ones with blogspot in the name  bear_original

I, too, use blogger/blogspot.  It's easy, for non-tech me.  And I love to blog!

Karen,
I'm a blogger/blogspot fan as well for all the reasons mentioned above - it's easy to use, can post lots of pics, easy to follow other blogs and I think a lot of people use blogger.

Thanks! Debora, Diana, Joanne, Sue Ann, Laura, Brenda, Katy, Cheryl- THe Bloggers  bear_cool  I have been checking out Blogging, WordPress and some of the other opinions. But I really have to read the fine print to know all the differences and I will bear_thumb (I'm bad about switching once I start somewhere.) Has anyone else found Blogspot to be slow loading? It's very slow loading images to my MAC computer. Otherwise I love everyone's blogspot sites! I was impressed with the speed of WoodPress but I guess I should check out the difficulty in loading images?  Jenny, Typepad is also fast on my computer and I wouldn't mind paying a small fee. Lisa, have to look at freeweb.  I have used code for auctions and to fix some problems with my website so I'm getting less nervous about the tech part of things. I'll keep checking it all out. I don't know if it'll be the right choice but it'll be a well researched choice  bear_tongue

Karen,
I have an Imac and a Dell I find blogger slower on my Dell - I guess it depends on the individual computer.
