I was just wondering if anyone has taken the e-teddy nose tutorial ($15).  I must admit, as far as bear making goes, the noses are my biggest challenge.  I'm usually happy with the end result, but sometimes it is just so time consuming (and frustrating when you have to pull out a nose and start over).  I've seen several good free tutorials and was wondering what people thought of this one.

I was fortunate enough to win one of Alison McKee's bear in a raffle, so I can say with some authority that her noses are spectacular!  If you check out Alison's free tutorials you will see the level of detail she goes into to teach, so I am sure her nose tutorial would be a great learning tool.

Thanks Paula-
I agree, her bears are just stunning.  I wasn't sure what level the tutorial would be at.  If a totally new way of thinking about the nose would be explored.  I'm sure I will get frustrated enough in the near future to purchase the tutorial.  Sometimes getting that needle through a mini nose is a challenge.  I don't think I've ever seen a tutorial on miniature noses.  I wonder if that is addressed.

Hmmn, I'm afraid I don't know anything about sewing mini noses ... I wonder if the techniques are the same?  Perhaps some mini bear makers could step in with some hints ...

bear_wub Go to the LIBRARY above and go under noses and Ellen Borggreve has a free nose tutorial on her blog.  The site is there with her info, great tutorial and whats better than free?  Give it a try.

Hi Shanna,
Just wanted to say that I do not specifically address mini noses in my tutorial but I use the exact same technique whether I'm making a mini or a huge bear.  The only thing that I change is the needle and embroidery floss size.  Otherwise, I do everything exactly the same.  The tutorial is a blow by blow of each stitch with pictures and text and is over 100 pages in length.  It's not printable, it's done as an e-book so you just grab your bear, needle and floss and sit in front of the computer and follow along.  There are 2 free tutorials on my website so you can see how the e-book works, you can zoom in for larger photos etc.  The most questions I have is how to make the pages not flip automatically.  Use the arrows just to the right of center to flip pages manually or there is a pause button.

Hugs,
Alison

I have. I think it's going to good, because it shows you different techniques.

I have done the tutorial and I think it is very good...the only thing I don't like is that it is not printable...I want to print it and take it into my work room!
