Feather Heart CreationsDoes anyone do wholesale? I've been thinking more and more that maybe I should get away from retail and work more toward wholesale. Does anyone have any tips, or advice about wholesale? Or any shops/stores that are great to work with or ones to avoid.
Ive done a little wholesale before but it was for a fund raiser, so I know I can do the number of items needed.
There's a lot you have to think about if you want to go wholesale. First can you afford to sell you pieces at 50% of your retail price? Most shops will want that price, especially, if you are just becoming known by collectors. Can you produce enough pieces to supply them with a good selection of your work? You should be prepared to offer shops exclusives and not compete against the store with your retail sales. These are just a few points to get you started. The good thing about wholesale is that the retail selling of your work is out of your hands giving you more time to create. And a good shop can really help your reputation as an artist. But in order to get picked-up by a well known shop I think it's important to first show your work and gain some recognition as an artist. My all time favorite store and what I consider the best place for artists and collectors is The Toy Shoppe, amazing selection of artist pieces.

I was thinking about only starting with one shop to see how it went. As for prices I've found that my retail is close to wholesale 
after comparing lots of needle felted plush prices I'm finding that I'm waaaaaaay under priced. So I thought rather than go up on my prices I would just turn it over to wholesale. Like you where saying getting the retail selling out of my hands & giving me more time to create is exactly what I want or would love to do at least. Thanks so much for your advice! :hug:
