Hi All,

Don't know whats wrong with me at the moment - I fancy making some bears and projects, but can't be bothered!  Have any of you felt that way?  Its not that I have lost interest in the bears - perhaps it is just the winter blues.  I HATE THIS TIME OF YEAR.

I have had one nice bit of diversion though - bought a couple of female rats and a week later was presented  with SEVEN ratlets!  These babies have been SO cute and a much needed pick me up - they make me laugh with their antics and I can hardly wait to rush home from work to see them bear_wub .  They are now the size of mice.

Oh no!  Hey, if you want creativity you can pop over to Luton to my hotel room this week, I'll make you creative  bear_laugh   Or maybe that should say I'll make you work for me creatively    J/K, hope it comes back soon, but in the meantime enjoy your new fur babies

Yes there has been times in my bear making that I have put it away for a while and come back.  But I have never put away all my crafting.  I always need to be busy with my hands.  I do hope you get your mojo back soon.  Till then enjoy your new babies.

bear_wub Hey, Karon, I feel the same way right now, I was just saying to myself, why are you not bear making??
As for the rats, lots of people do not understand what wonderful pets they are, I mean of course the bred rats, not the wild ones.  My kids had rats and mice growing up and they were just so great to watch and train, and play with and hold.
My daughter had these two giant rats named Minnie(black) and Pearl ( white ).  they were as big as kittens.  But wonderful none the less.  so enjoy those sweeties and the new babies, how about some pics??
Take care

Karon, I have definitely felt that way. Between the winter season and the changes that come with getting older, there have been times when I just can't seem to do much (either my paying work or my hobbies).

Don't be too hard on yourself. Just keep doing the everyday upkeep things (showers, shopping, cooking, etc.), those are important, and have fun with the little ratsies.  bear_original

Ah, thank you all!!

Pat, so true about ratties - they are so loving and affectionate not to mention funny and entertaining.  I love rodents anyway but I think rats are the best.  Would love a couple of Degus - does anyone have any experience of them - the ones I have come across seem very friendly (like head rubs and that!).

I am hoping the Christmas Swap will help me get my "mojo" back.

Hiya Karon,

Sorry to hear about your lack of bear mojo - perhaps you can concentrate on one of the other crafts you dabbled in?  How is your reborn doing - you were so excited about doing her.   How about your photography - you can start by taking some piccies of your fur babies.  You never know how something totally unrelated could help get your bear mojo back!

Take care  bear_flower

I know how you feel!

I have been in a creative slump for more than two months.  I lost my job and have been working part time and supplementing my income with unemployment.  I just haven't felt creative.

I used to spend hours outside taking photographs every day and I'd spend at least one or two hours downstairs in the darkroom developing and printing each night.  There were times I would be walking along and I'd just "see" a photograph.  Some days I couldn't help but to take pictures.

Ever since I got let go my creativity just vanished.  I can't "see" any photographs even if I try.  I still keep my cameras loaded with film but I have only developed two rolls in the last two months.  Although they are all technically "correct" photos, there aren't any really good ones that I want to share.

These are the last "decent" photos I have taken:   http://gallery.me.com/randystankey

Those last photos I uploaded at the beginning of October were actually taken in the middle of September but I never even thought about developing them till almost 2 weeks later.

Oh, I'm sorry to hear that.  bear_sad  It's got to be discouraging.

Thanks for sharing the photos, though. I enjoyed having a peek.

Oh Karon,

I'm so sorry to hear this, it must be so hard for you! (Well, for me it is hard to keep away from the bears, I haven't done one in some months but would love to have the time to.....)
I do hope that you'll get back your Mojo very soon

Hugs and best wishes, Ariane

I can load the camera, focus the image and operate the shutter.  I can develop the negatives.  I can print the picture but I just can't "make the photograph."

I can understand how it must be for Bearmakers.  I imagine it's "just sewing."  Technically correct in any way you want to size it up but there's just no meaning in it.

Whether you are making images or sewing Bears or doing any other kind of art it's the same thing.  There has to be personal meaning in your work or else you're just going through the motions.

I'm sure I could print up photos from my library.  If anybody wanted a print I could certainly make one for them.  (I certainly could use the money, right now!)  But, as far as making new ones, I just don't have it in me, today.

I'll certainly take commentary on any of the photos I have posted on-line.  If I could talk about photos, it might help.  If anybody wants to talk about Bearmaking I'm open.

If anybody would like a REAL photograph, not a digital copy, send me a message.  bear_original

Hi, Us Bears,

Sorry to hear about you loosing your job.  bear_flower   Perhaps looking through your old photo albums might help you get your photo mojo (try saying that fast ten times  bear_grin ) back.  I find looking here at all the bear piccies gets me all worked up to making something.  I love your photos especially the sunset ones - I've always been fascinated with sunsets, even as a child each reel would always have at least one sunset in it.  I can remember one holiday when I was 14, we can home and had the film developed, a good helf of the pictures were sunsets  bear_whistle

Hi Karon

I too have experienced phases when I just can't face sitting down at my bearia (bear area in the house!) and focus on making bears.

I found that the more I worried about not making the bears, the more I didn't want to, so ended up in a vicious circle!   bear_cry

The best solution is to tell yourself that you are taking a break, don't punish yourself by worrying as this will only make things worse.

I took a little break and at one point wondered if the break would mean that I wouldn't want to return to bear making, however my mojo came back (with avengence) and I love it more than ever now  bear_grin

Don't beat yourself up, enjoy a break, spend time with the new rattie babies and your passion for creativity will return.

Hugs

I can understand your dispondency - when I was made redundant about nine years ago it knocked me for six.

Nothing is going particularly wrong in my case - well the type of work I am in, care, is a worry in itself - but I consider myself SO lucky to have a job.

Just feel rather low, LOTS of memories - bad time of year.

I hope things improve for you.
