So, I had a customer wanting my latest bear on Ebay, as a buy it now, and layaway. So I said fine hit he Buy it now and commit to buy. Then he emailed me, it won't let him, he has to pay now or sign up for credit through them, I thought he was confused, so I called Ebay, they are going to have this new rule by the end of the summer on all accts, this person just happened to be one of the guinea pigs, they said too many people are using the buy it now and not paying. So now the only way you can use buy it now is to pay immediatly! There goes layaway sales on Buy it Now. Can't believe it!
So sorry to hear of your troubles on Ebay. When I start selling bears again, I think I will avoid Ebay and go to sites like Etsy and Bearpile.
Yes! It is going to be Bearpile for me!! I realise the numbers aren't as big at Bearpile, yet.... the way Ebay is squeezing out us small sellers, we soon will all be at Bearpile, then that will be the first place to go for bears and friends!
So I guess it will be email me for layaway, and you will have to pull the listing. Where there is a will there is a way.
Joanne
That's how I've done it in the past, Joanne. When someone wants to do a buy it now and layaway, I immediately end the listing and then you don't have to pay ebay final value fees and if you list another bear, you can use that same listing and do a revision, so you've only paid for the listing once -
It actually works for the better for the seller -
Hugs,
Janice
Can't they use the PayPal deferred payment scheme?
Maybe, but most of my layaway customers do not want to sign up for credit of any kind, like this person, it was directing him to a place to enter his credit info., he was not happy about that. I don't know about everyone else, but my PayPal is funded soley through my checking acct. so I don't want charges being made like those deferred payments. I would rather have the seller send me an invoice for me to pay, that is how I handle my layaways. hugs, Susan.
I would do it the way Joanne does it and Janice. I would just cancel the listing and sell it outside of ebay and they lose out on the commission.
hugs
Shane
