I just have 50 more bears to make to reach the goal I set way back when I was just a few years into this bear making journey! Next year it will be 25 years that I have been making my little critters - doubt if I will get all 50 done before then so that will be kind of fitting. 25 years and goal reached would seem like the right time to pack it all in! (although I'd probably still have to make the occasional bear - not sure I could quit completely!)
It's always nice to be near your goal, but please do at least make the occasional bear after that? Your bears are such beautiful little things.

Edie, was that goal a particular number of bears to be accomplished in that amount of time? I'm curious..
I've almost finished 21 years and I've never kept track of my 'head' count. Shame on me. But bookkeeping isn't my strong suit, among other organizational traits.
Huge hugs to you for one GOAL reached!!
      Dontcha love it when you reach one of your goals?!
A particular number, Bobbie - 5000 - but not in a particular time - just happens that it will likely come in my 25th year of bearmaking.
I didn't actually start out counting at first either but when I got to around 25 or so I thought, "gee maybe I'll actually make a 100 bears - I better keep track!" so went back and added up exactly how many I'd done and put a count on from there. Once I got past the 100 I was so totally hooked I thought maybe I could make a thousand and just kept increasing from there!
Wow Edie that is a lot of bears.
I'm impressed! I've kept track of most of my bears (not the failed attempts) on a document with notes on the materials, patterns, construction, etc. I'm working on bear #62 right now, so will NOT be making it to 5000 in this lifetime.

I don't even think I will hit 500 in my lifetime, so I bow to your productivity level! Congrats on getting so near your goal
Wow, Edie, that's a lot of smiles going around! Amazing! I'm with Bobbie, though, bookkeeping is not my forte (though that was my "real job" back in the day!!!). I don't have any idea how many bears I've made in the 13 + years I've been a bear maker but I can bet that it's nowhere near 5,000!
Please don't quit, Edie, your bears are so sweet and we all would miss them!
Hugs,
Janice
Thanks so much for all the positive comments! I don't think I will ever completely quit bears - not unless I find something else to become totally passionate about! Cleaning house just isn't enough incentive to get out of bed in the mornings!
I may just do bears more for fun and give up the marketing, orders, and expectations! I have some ideas I'd like to try that are pretty complicated but I can't seem to take time away from sales to experiment - so I am looking forward to that part of it! Like maybe go for quality instead of quantity for the next part of my career!
