Hallo everybody!
Ok, I bought this bear and I thought it was a Steiff. Theeeen I got a little unsure because in the button in his ear it did not say Steiff, but instead it was a picture of an elephant. Well, Ive searched around on google with my limited computer skills and found out that some of the Steiff bears do have an elephant on the button in his ear! Atleast the once that are from 1904 and 1905.
Then I took a further look on the internet and found a bear that was like mine, and that one was from 1904.
I have very little experience with Steiff bears! This is the third Steiff bear I have ever bought.
Can anyone pliz help me find out more about my bear?!?!

I know about as much as you do regarding the bear, so cannot shed any more light unfortunately. However the button in the ear was invented by one of Margarete's nephews in 1904 and the first buttons had an elephant. Looking at the bear i would say you had one of the 1904 area bears, which is what you already suspect.

Hopefully one of the experts you have written to will be able to give more info, good luck!

I just got an e mail from an action house in Amsterdam that could confirm what we suspect. It is a Steiff bear from the 1904 - 05!!!!! NOw I hope there is someone out there that can tell me more! THe auction house would only confirm that, but suggested that we went to London with the bear so we could get it properly appraiced! WUHUUU!!!!!!
