We know they got the number from an online shop-which one we do not know yet....but we aren't done......and that is why it is so easy to track down stuff....This was just the little account that is only used for on line stuff....so it should be fairly easy for Visa to figure out who done it....and since it was ONLY a debit card they couldn't have done much damage.

It pays to have the fianances separated....boy am I glad we did.....

stay safe out there

hugs

and still laughing Penny

Oh we aren't worried, like I said, we check it frequently.....the 3 charges to the online betting establishment were for racing forms.  So I guess I should be glad they at least like animals?

And the  on line "spiritual books" were pretty funny:  google  "Outrageous Mastery"  we did and the books are kinda hinky.....so I called the number. ( Don't you love how they include the telephone numbers when you use a card)...the woman who answered sounded a little wary and then a lot scared, when I explained I was trying to determine where the $147.00 went....she said her set is $147.00  but she had no idea how this happened.....yeah right.

The only way to purchase them is to enter your email addy and name and then she contacts you; hmmmmm......

The card company asked if we were willing to prosecute, well duh!

The whole exercise is rather amusing and the only inconveinent thing is not having a debit card for online purchases.  I  will be purchase free for a few weeks I guess....

oh wait.......there is always paypal.....

I thibk its kinda funny and they have already refunded our paltry amount.  kinda nice that as we were figuring 3 or 4 weeks.....

hope you all had a giggle or two....

Penpen, what happened to us is nothing compared to what you went through....That would be scary

gollyhugs to all

We are paranoid so we check the account frequently, and the debit card is only on 1 account mostly used for online stuff, which is different than the household account or the paypal account.

This morning there were 4 charges we didn't make:  three from an online betting company and one from an online site that sells spiritual books.

Who uses a stolen card number for on line spiritual books?  I hope they get something spiritual out of their books......

worst:  mom being in much worse shape when she moved in and the family lying about it so we would take her

best:  surviving the 6 months she was with us without either of us having a break-down or splitting up

If we can survive her deciding it was too much effort to get up and take care of her toiletting needs,  we can survive anything!

I just hope we don't get tested on this again real soon....

I'm still tired........

Dilu

Well, I couldn't be happier and I have already requested the artist of my ornament bear to please post a picture as I am still learning how to use photoshop; oh good golly i am still trying to learn how to use the computer.  Yes, chuckle all you technowizards, but I admidt my shortcomings and spelling and computers are but two of them.

However, appreciating this absolutely adorable little fluff of artistry and work-womanship is not a short coming and she will be staying up throughout the year, as she is just too cute to put away.

do please post a piccy for us....

Thank you so much Tracy Lee, as she was so worth the wait and I couldn't be more pleased!

Some day, darling Jane, this will be a funny story.  I thank God that you and yours, right down to the budgie, are all ok and given that CO can kill I think the food is sooooo secondary.

Life is beautiful and we aren't ready for you to leave us yet, dear heart, so take care, and buy a new cooker, if you can.  And toast the fact that you are here to celebrate another birthday and make a new bear.  What a blessing!

Sounds to me like you already know....Congratulations-we all want our work to be special but too many of us do not know the difference
one thing about artists....they are their own worst critics, but you know the difference and therefore know when and where to apply the name artist.

That's a big deal....having it straight in your head. And there is no reason you can not go back and forth-between the quick stuff, I call throw away, which is probably an awful thing to say about gollies, but these are the boilerplate dolls that are usually small and made as the equivalent to a party favor, some little thing to include in a letter or give as a brooch or whatever....what they aren't is ART, which is different from something I plan draw rework then cut and sew.  And between you, me, and 3000 of our closest friends, even the ones I sweat over aren't always art-for me very few are.  OK I or 2 were.....

But you are right on spot about inspiration, and getting it from the real artists here, and seeing it as something to strive for.  I certainly am still trying.

Look forward to more of your artwork!

Dilu

Oh Charlotte, good grief, as if your plate were not full enough....what is happening i good ol' California to send you back there?

Are you happy about the move?

should we cheer or commiserate?

do I ask too many questions?

Have a wonderful Christmas, even if you do spend it packing your studio or something like that.....

Both Daphne and Mary had great answers to your question.  But I have one for you:

When you view other's work at what point do you say:  NOW THAT'S ART?

or That's nice handwork; etc.

If you can recognize art when you see it then you should be able to know when you have attained your own self imposed criteria.

So?  What do you think?

Looking forward to seeing artist somewhere in your business name...and to seeibng you grow and develop in your art.

Dilu

Oh, how beautiful you are, and I do so wish you and your honey all the best  in the world.  Its a wonderful thing, having someone in your corner, rooting for you and backing you up.  When times get tough, just remember to love each other through it all.

So, many many best wishes and prayers for your future happiness and joy in each other, and of course your little one to be!

Oh dear Sue,

first, you raised a great girl....do not feel guilty.  Its OK for us all to not get everything we want.  It makes us stronger and more resilient.  My bet is that, at 16 you know this is true, part of her problem was hormonal as well.  Since she is such a neat kid she will adapt and adjust and if she's even half the lady you think she is, she will enjoy dad's excitement....

   Bravo on coming up with such a neat thing.....my honey is only getting an arc welder, and all the parts and pieces that go with it.....and he had t oresearch it and pick out exactly what he needed.....poor baby, its really for me, as I want some really neat arbors we saw last summer, and He's going to make them! .....never-the-less he loves tools and has wanted one for years.

And I am sure you got her something special as well....don't let the streess get to you, or you wont enjoy your holiday...

It'll all come out in the wash

OMGollygoodness    these are hysterical.

my first mom in law openly stated she didn't like me from the day she first saw me, before I even shook her hand and said hello. So she always did the opposite of anything i said.  If she asked what I wanted and I said a sweater she would get me an electric can opener, if sha asked what I didn't want and I said electric can opening that's is what she would get.
so I learned to disparage the very thing I wanted and sure enough thats what i would get!

the woman hated me... bear_wacko

She told me when we were married that every bride in their ward got home made quilts from the relief society and what color would I like.  well it was  a muslin quilt, for you sewers, truly muslin, course, rough, beige, muslin.  I pretended to love it, until I discovered that the Relief  Societies of this particular church are indeed all experts in the home arts and this was done on purpose . bear_ermm

HMMMM

now being an avid sewer i decided to take it apart, use the muslin for things I use it for, and save the batting and make myself a real quilt- reusing her batting....and since it was tied and not quilted it was easy enough to do.

as far as i was concerned, 2 weeks in...the gloves were off.....but this would take some careful living and plotting and planning

Once I deplored the really nice 100 % cotton percale 400 count sheets.....I still have them today and think they are wonderful.  boy they have held up beautifully

another year I told her about a really horrid coat at ZCMI and that the worst color- and I loved that coat for about 11 years!

The moral, if you find out your mom in law hates you before you even say hello you are in for a rocky road and chances are truly really absolutely good that it wont work and you might save yourself some grief by bailing before the wedding takes place. bear_tongue

I thank her though-as she turned me into a meditating, contentment seeking/accepting, Zen practicing, Christian who tries to live a totaly different life than any of her mothers-

because life is to short to hate, and bad energy just comes back atcha 10 fold...

And almost any bad situation can be made to look funny if you let it....and that can be a sanitysaver

And there is almost always an interesting answer to the most difficult puzzles.
