What kind of monofiliment would be heavy duty??? I use monofiliment but noticed that it doesnt like to hold the tension sometimes... any ideas of strong brands or alternative?  i like the monofiliment because you cant see it though!!!:)

kbonsall

this was a dilemma in my head - when i start selling on ebay, i am not sure that i will ship to outter countries... maybe after i get my foot in the door and am recognized for my work... maybe in the future i will change that though, you never know!

kbonsall

Millie - I, like you, cannot knit but can crochet... but with crocheting, I have tension problems bear_grin they start off fine but about 20 rows in or so, it starts getting skinnier!  Judi, your knitties are wonderful, much like all of your other work - I hope some day i can be as good as you are, or remotely come close!!! bear_original

If you want something of yours to go to a relative/friend, it should be stipulated that way in a will....  By the way, if any of you care to leave any of your teddies or mohair to me, I would be more than willing to take it bear_laugh:D:D *Trying to lighten the mood*  I know that I dont want my Boyd's bears or any of the other artist bears to be just "thrown out" or mistreated... After all, right now I have a room designated for them... no, it doesn't just have bears - it also is the home to my clothing, shoes, purses, etc.... I am a collector of all bear_grin

kbonsall

I just love those little tootsies!!!

kbonsall

YOU ALL inspire me!!!! bear_laugh:D

mine seem to want to come untied!!!! little rascals!!!  I want to learn to make b-u-tee-ful bows!!! bear_original

I use a marker - cant remember the brand or official name - but it is disappearing ink - I tried the sharpie route but found that it shows through... i love the disappearing ink though!  I got it at Joanne Fabrics - it takes maybe overnight to disappear and then *poof* it is gone!  bear_laugh

I just ordered Nancy's book from Borders (should be here in 1-6 wks)...I will have my fur before then!!!  a woman I work with has two members of her family that are furriers!  She also has a good friend that is getting rid of two mink coats and will know shortly if I can have them - for free, of course!!!! I am tickled pink!!!! She told me today that during the summer months, they keep fur coats in "cold storage" - I wonder if I should make a tag on my little buggers (when i make them) that says "Keep in a cool place, next to your mayo!!!"  he he he - sorry I am in a silly TGIF mood!!! bear_laugh:D

kbonsall

Wanda - That is true - you do have the bear until it is paid so you really dont have anything to lose

kbonsall

But - in your layaway contract it does state that you will be keeping their deposits if they dont pay the rest so, that is on them if they dont pay it because you can sell the bear and make the difference or get more than that.

kbonsall

I think that you probably need signatures to enforce a contract (I work in a law firm).  If there is no signature, then there is no "proof" that the person actually agreed to the terms - if you have a shady customer who says "I didnt know that there was a no refund policy, I didnt see anything or sign anything" - I personally would get a signature so that they can't say they didnt receive it.  It is better safe than sorry! bear_original  believe me, I have learned to cover my rear end!

I am looking to try fur for making my teddy bears.  Can anyone give me any pointers for how to get started and items that I will need, procedures and such (I already have the fur!) THANKS!

kbonsall

you gals are soooo helpful!  what would I do without ya!:D:D

kbonsall

Laura, you are wonderful!  So helpful to a gal just starting out in this business!!! bear_original

kbonsall

If it frays after doing that to it, the bear just wasn't meant to have the ribbon, the little feller is just trying to tell me that he doesnt want one!!! bear_original thanks for the suggestion!:)

kbonsall

Laura - by the way, I bought some shrinky dinks and made my tags this weekend!  They turned out perfect - I bought a whole punch that is in the shape of a tag and stamped a bee onto it and signed it "Kim-Bee Bears 2005".  They turned out wonderful!  I guess I was a deprived child and never had shrinky dinks when I was little - They were fun to watch shrink up - Easily amused I guess!:) Anywho, thank you for the suggestion!!! bear_happy

kbonsall

Does anyone have any ideas on how to end ribbon so that it doesn't fray?  I just finished another bear - hopefully within the next couple of days I will post a pic of him bear_laugh By the way, while I am on the topic, how do I bring a pic into my message?

THANKS!!!

kbonsall

LMAO - gee, that never dawned on me!  Silly me! bear_laugh

kbonsall

Maybe this is a silly question but what is OOAK????

kbonsall

Eileen - I totally agree - I came into this board for support, not to witness people being ucky to one another bear_original  This is suppose to be a fun forum and a fun hobby bear_original Please don't scare me away from this forum by getting ucky bear_happy

kbonsall

Judi - regardless of whose "idea" it was, your work is WONDERFUL and no one can take that away from you!  Everyone has their own style of how they do certain things.  I am not siding with anyone - I dont want to get in the middle - there is no reason to hurt feelings -

kbonsall

I think you SHOULD be able to have your website on there!  you are selling the item on ebay and if people want to see your other work, they should be able to.  I think your "banner" is bee-u-tee-ful!!! I personally would never have noticed your website on the banner!
