Okay, point of clarification here ....

GO PANTHERS!

But ... I think the Steelers and Seahawks will play the big game.

Deb

Is it possible to be TOO picky?

Yes.  Maybe Shantell you are demanding more of your results than your experience to date will allow.  These things take time.  I think it's good to be able to look at something and desire to do better on this or that next time; that's healthy.  I'm not sure that beating yourself up is.  Your craft(s) should bring you joy and inspire you to improve .... whether you are Shantell or Deb ... or whether you're Mary Whatsername or SueAnn or Judi or Michele Lamb.  Just my opinion.

My teddy bear mentor - Jo Martenson... taught me a VERY important thing... how to sew by hand

You know, those pictures in the books are all well intending, but it would be really cool if you took "step" photos (thread in, out, in, out) for a few stiches and posted (backstich).  I've sewn for years with machine, and I can hem and ladder stich, but am not so sure of myself with sewing seams by hand.

Steelers and Seahawks

Even though I'm in love with Carolina's Jake Delhomme, I gotta give Seattle the edge.

However, I am really stuck on the legs, what size width is the norm for a bear apx `12"? Or maybe she is having a hard time standing because she is to top heavy.

Laurie ~

A couple different bear books I have suggest that in general, body, arms and legs be approximately the same length.  And that as a general guide, legs and arms be half the width of the body.  Hope that helps.

Kathy, Heather, Matilda and Marion (MerBear Canada) ... just because.

I would also like to spend a day with Dilu because I could learn something about felting AND gollies.  bear_flower
I would like to meet LL so we can talk NASCAR.
I would like to meet SueAnn because I want her to adopt me.
I would like to meet Shelli to see if she could talk as long as she writes, and pick her brain, like Jared.   bear_grin
I'd like to meet Penny because ... well ... she's a riot.
I'd like to meet Janet because she seems so sweet and sincere.
I'd like to meet Kelly because she's right next door and is so very talented.

And the list goes on and on and on and on.

Seriously:  Did I hear someone say something about a show in Binghamton, NY?  When is it?  I'm only 45 minutes away from there.  How about an overnight?  I've got lots of room and a few of those airbeds.  bear_grin

I usually log on while the coffee is brewing in the morning and just have a quick look (how many new posts there are, etc.)

At work I usually log on sometime during the morning, and I take a quick look form time to time, and maybe even post now and then.  Probably looks like I'm on all day long, and I guess I am logged on quite a bit, but not always "on" on.

First I check new <private> messages and respond.  Then scan general discussion for whatever catches the eye.  Recently for instance, I had to know what a "make do" bear was, what a dryer lint bear was, and what poor Shelli was addicted to.  I scan through techniques, new members.  I spend the least amount of time in needlefelting and miniatures, but try to at least take a peek once in awhile.  I try to get through as many showcase and sale posts as I can.

Probably spend a total of ... I'd say 30, sometimes 45 minutes a day reading and typing.  I know I don't get through everything like I used to when I first joined (every thread, every post), not enough time in a day now with TT growing and all.  Just do the best I can.  But definitely stay connected.

I don't routinely check to see who is logged on, but do every once in awhile.  Cracks me up when I'm up early here on the East coast of the USA and see I'm the only member logged on, and I think ... now how can that be?

Deb

Oh good grief.  Thank you SueAnn.

Maybe you're jumping to conclusions ... could have been the gollies acting up again.  They've been good for quite awhile haven't they?

I'm wondering if a nice soft wall paper from the discount bin would work  bear_happy  You could even glue it to poster board or something sturdy to give it more firmness.I know I have seen some beautiful, soft wallpapers that would look lovely and the have a mat finish which wouldn't mess with your lights.Just a thought,I haven't tried it myself yet but I might

It does work!  That is, wallpaper adheres beautifully to that 1/4" poster board you can get at WalMart.  Haven't used for photographing bears, but for another craft.

Also, could easily do a rag roll faux paint on that board.  Probably rag-off.  Or colorwash.  Gosh ... now I need to repaint the family room.
