Me too, Aleta!!! Bring on the Spring time...the flowers, the sun, the warmth. I'm tired of rain and brrrrrrrr cold. We still have snow from last week that hasn't melted. We didn't get snow this time but FREEZING RAIN. ACK ACK ACK!!!
I heard that it won't melt away today...won't get warm enough before it starts freezing again...isn't that just lovely.
Give Max a cuddle for me!!!
Hugs,
Shantell
Do the words..... NEW MEDICAL INSURANCE...mean anything to anyone???
GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

We didn't get "dumped" on but we (as in me) did get some snow. It would snow like crazy...blizzard  okay so I couldn't see across the pasture and cover the yard and then 30 minutes later it would be gone....then it would do it all over again...this went on all day. Kind of fun...never knew what it would look like when you looked outside...SURPRISE...green grass one minute...Winter Wonderland the next.
This morning we still have snow...and it's still snowing itsy bitsy teeny weeny microscopic snowflakes BUT hey it's SNOW. I can see it!!! It counts in my book...the ground is white and it's suppose to do this here in my little corner of the valley until noon...wooohoooooooo!!! The sun will then peek out and all will return to normal....RAIN!!!
Hugs,
Shantell
*** People who exit the bathroom without handwashing, leaving their poopy peepee germs all over the door handle and elsewhere. Yes, women are guilty of this, and more than we'd like to think. Ewwwwww
Oh yes, that is one of my ALL TIME biggest pet peeves AND one of my biggest "out of the mouths of babes, embarrassing moments" as well. When my daughter was about 3, we were in a bathroom and some lady didn't wash her hands and little sweet Erienne chimes in as loud as she could..."mommy that lady didn't wash her hands HOW GROSS!!!". (Gross being her new favorite word thanks to a friend of mine). I wanted to die.
My housemate was absolutely right!!! I normally avoid conflict and don't let much ruffle my feathers. I think it was the blatant act of uncaring if anyone else might want any of that particular item...and I was in a mood (ha)!! Oh well...maybe next time someone else will empty the shelf in front of her.
The God's must have known I needed to vent...
Today, my pet peeve is....drum roll...
RUDE people at the grocery store. Those who fill their cart with an item (especially if it's on sale) and don't leave ONE for anyone else. I'm not talking about taking the last one or two but 10 or more. This happened today. I went to the store and as I was walking in near the produce I noticed that this item I buy regularly was on sale in the "health food section"...the next thing I see is some woman tossing in every single bag of it into her cart...not just two or three but the entire shelf. At first, I thought it was perhaps a store employee removing them from the shelf but then I realized it was a shopper. She could careless that I was standing there waiting my turn to grab something from the shelf. If it hadn't been for my housemate she would have gotten a little piece of what's left of my mind. GRRRRRRRRRRRRR
She must have sensed my irritation because everytime she saw me later in the store she would NOT come down the same aisle and if I came down an aisle she was in would immediately turn around and retreat.
I think that's enough pet peeves for me today.
Hugs,
Yep, I've heard the rumors. I have to say, however, this little nest I call home seems to be in a warm spot in the valley and we rarely get much snow. It can be snowing in flurries and blizzards all around us...Eugene, Salem, Portland, Corvallis, the hills to the east...but right here...notta...annoying as hell.
I'll keep you posted if I actually see enough snow to stick for more than a few hours.
Now freezing rain...that's another story!!
Hugs,
Now off to post on my pet peeves...I've got one!!!
I have nothing remotely exciting as some of you...but here's a couple you might find interesting if not funny...
1. I'm actually rather shy especially in a group and tend to be a quiet observer.
2. When answering the phone, I'm often asked "is your mommy home?" which is rather annoying. I've even been question when calling in to excuse one of my kids from school if I'm REALLY their mother. Fortunately, by now they recognize my voice.
3. As a freshman in high school, I started the year as one of the shortest girls in my class. By the end of the year I was one of the tallest having grown 6 inches. By the end of my senior year I was the tallest girl at not quite 6 feet.
Hugs,
Just for you Brenda...a very early baby photo
This was taken at about 3 weeks on a quick sneek them in while mamma is eating (more like gobbling). And getting kittens to sit still for a quick photo shoot...   Here's little Max...see why Aleta fell head over heals.

THANK YOU!!! He has grown into such a beautiful cat. You are so right. His face is JUST like Skippy's along with her attitude but he's definitely got Surrender's fur coat. His tail looks like it's a mile long!!! No wonder he knocks things over with it.
I just feel so blessed to have found such wonderful homes for those darling little kittens. As sad as I was to see them go and as much as I missed them those first few days (okay weeks) I knew they would be loved, well cared for and generally spoiled rotten.
Thanks so much for posting pictures. He certainly is gorgeous, my little sumo-wrestler.
Hugs to you,
I do thread the leather cord eyelids all the way through the head & just use the superglue to hold em
tight to the eye itself - I would not mind a better sort of glue or process for the same effect though.
I should clarify that I secured the leather cording deep into the head as well...it was only glued to the glass eye to secure it to the eye to hold it.
Things that make you go...hmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!
Thanks AGAIN, Sandra!!
Wow...thanks Sandra for bringing this to our attention. Little things that you just don't really think of in the long term. I've stop doing the leather corded eyelids for this very reason. I love the look but in the back of my mind, I've been afraid that the "super glue" used to adhere the cording to the glass eye (NOT the bear) would eventually over time crumble away and the cording would pop loose. I would hate for a collector to think I did shoddy work because of that. I know several artist do this technique quite successfully and this feeling is just ME feeling paranoid and has absolutely nothing to do with the technique itself. I have yet, in my opinion, to master a better techinque with my clumsy shaky fingers.
Again, thanks for bringing this forward...and thanks Daphne the info on floral tape etc. I had no idea. Note to self..scrap the floral arranging ideas. HA HA I certainly will think a little harder when choosing accessories for my little ones in the future.
Hugs,
Shantell
I too am sending all my hugs and prayers!!

I've decided that Skippy has reverted back to kittenhood. She stalks and attacks anything that SHE thinks might move including but not limited to leaves, sticks, twigs, the other cats, her food, the beds, bugs, ME to name only a few. If she remotely THINKS something new is amiss she takes off and then peeks around the corners glaring with daggers in her eyes as if it's all aimed at catching her. She's just a little stink pot and I adore every little antic she pulls...well except when she swats me for no reason. Even Surrender has grown annoyed with her at times.
I think I attract the ornery ones...it's my mission in life to conquer!!!
Surrender has turned into a toasted marshmellow since he's gotten the old snip snip...the big fluffly furball. Skippy (Max's mom) on the other hand is a little poop.
Here I am Max...can you see me

Merry Christmas Everyone!!!!
I'm a slacker this year...I didn't make my cards...which is so not like me. I love making my own cards and typically make them way in advance...okay I start early knowing it will take me forever and a day. But not this year...
They are addressed...stamped...but have yet to make it to the post office. So, my international friends...if you do not receive your cards before Christmas....I'm so sorry....but I did add a little Happy New Year greeting...will that count?
My goal for tomorrow...CARDS IN THE MAIL!!!
It does work to use the bottom function, Shelli...just not the Img Upload button. I've grown spoiled and forgotten about the other function.
I can't seem to upload photos either...hmmmmmmmm
HE'S HERE, HE'S HERE...and yes I'm yelling!!! The suspense has been killing me and Daphne has not made it any easier the little tormenter. I didn't even get the pleasure of attacking the mailman either because I wasn't home when he arrived...how ruuuuuuuude!!!
Here is my little Santa Bear Claus complete with his own little kitten that doesn't need to be fed, taken to the vet or otherwise cared for in any way by ME. HA!!! Isn't just adorable. I LOVE LOVE LOVE him. I think he shall remain out in the hutch all year round...how could I possibly put him and his kitty in a box. I even demoted one of my prized precious moments ornaments to a lower position on my tree :).
Thank you so very Daphne!!!
Well...I can only speak for myself...but I'd rather have Mimzy made from the hands of Daphne Blau than from any ol' Tonner Doll Company
But...that's just ME speaking

Big Congrats Daphne...it's a HUGE accomplishment and then adding everything you were going through at the time makes it even BIGGER.
I can hardly wait to share this with my friends who still have younger kids...(note to self).
Yay for Daphne...that is so cool. I do seem to recall that Daphne said she would NOT be named in the credits however. Don't quote me on that...and I'm saying this without going back to her original postings when she was sharing her bunnies in the making.

As much as I love country living, I will admit that not having power is a HUGE inconvience in my book. I whine and complain when it's out for a few HOURS and can't imagine DAYS. We also have a well so that means NO water too so when there is no electricity there's no water no nothin'.
Bless you...so glad to hear you survived in one piece. Hugs!!
