Oooh, now Ruth, frittatas I can do! Well, they're usually more like...egg fried vegetables (too much milk ) but they taste good! I've never used Salmon in on though: I'll have to try that... I'm a vegiquarian, so that's fine :D
Bobbie, that sounds really good... it seems like every recipe I've tried out these past few days has had a veggie stock cube in it: I must have consumed about 5 of the things! We don't cook with salt so I'm not used to it at all XD I think that recipe would be great as a risotto...
Oooh, Maria, sounds like a great twist on the old 'cauliflower cheese' recipe! We never really ate much meat but then it started to make me feel really bloated and ill after eating red meat so I cut it bout... I do miss the easiness of chicken though. And it's really hard to find a veggie pie too: I need pastry to live!!
Wow, everyone has great tips and tricks, I'll have to start creating and let you guys know some!
Yes I did, Cat, and there has to be a bear in there somewhere Photo's have to be in on the 2nd, so I'm pushed for time to make anything to add to the bear too, so I'm making a more realistic grizzly with an open needlefelted mouth and armatures with claws... fingers crossed he'll be finished in time!
Wow, every time I come back to this, you've taken it over with discussions of Britain, Cat! I looked at the train journey and it's about 8 hours and three changes.... looking less easy for me to get there...
Ellen, I still don't believe it The lady who bought her is American, which to me means that she was willing to pay more than £80 to get Naira to her safely. That's pretty amazing! I posted her off yesterday
I need to start selling them for myself now
Lol, Jane! That's hilarious, silly French boys... English food ROCKS! yum yum yum.... you know, it costs £5.40 for fish and chips in Durham? I must stock up before I go back: fast food there is extortionate!
I'm only joking about the slimming bit I am a food appreciator through and through, sadly, so when I go back I'm throwing myself back into dance as well as studying and sewing... toooo much! I'll need all that butter, Michelle! Only one question... what's Mrs Dash? I'll have to google it!
Shelli, that pasta dish sounds great. I am not quite a fan of mushrooms, but I used to hate them. I have fond memories of a mad girl from my College proclaiming loudly to one and all that she couldn't eat mushrooms 'because of her eczema', and then tucking into a big bowl of mycoprotein-ous Quorn, absolutely fine. Ah, happy days XD
Hello all!
As you may know, I'm currently a Zoology student here in lovely rainy England, and after this Sunday, I am officially cooking for myself until Christmas... the horror!!!
I've bought a few student cookbooks to try out, but I thought I'd ask you guys if you have any ultra cheap and tasty (and obviously slimming :P) recipes that you used at Uni, or indeed use now Seeing as everyone here is creative with bear making, there must be some creative chefs too! I just made an Oniony Soup, and I'm working on a mince pasta bake now... good ol' Quorn. I am veggie, but it's so easy to substitute in other stuff instead of meat it doesn't really matter now!
... I make a cracking brie and mushroom pasta sauce too
I don't know, Gemma, it depends on my transportation We don't have a car, so it's the train for me sadly... I need to get there if I get nominated though. Luckily I'm in with a relatively ok chance, as I can officially call myself a beginner XD Woohoo!
... really need to GNER that journey...
Thank you so much Gemma! Honestly, I'm working on a bear for the BBAA at the minute, and it is sooo much harder than designing a sloth: no one that I know of makes sloths, so I've got an advantage!
I feel so chuffed that Naira sold I would have been happy with my starting bid of £30, but in the end she sold for £70! I'm so happy! She's going to a lady in America, so I'm off to buy her a nice traveling box...
Yes Kathy, it was unplanned XD I never plan my hair cuts: I just go, take off my specs and when I put them back on I have a new head  Sometimes it's a little brighter than others...
Thanks Debbie :D
In actual fact, I gave him to Susan as a 'test subject' (without wanting to sound cruel!) because then I have someone close to hand who can let me know if anything about them is less durable than I hope, and then I can also make attempts at fixing problems... I didn't factor in the road trips though
Susan is the lady that I made this guy for, and she is the lady who gave me the name 'Lugly', meaning lovely and ugly
I took him 'round to her last Wednesday, because she was doing my hair for me... and I haven't posted since then because I walked out with pink hair :P
Anyhoo, Boar (so called because her new shiny harley is 'the Hog') is the same size as original Sloth Poke (papoose sized, I think we decided ) and was all beige until I attacked him with marker pens. I tried a new technique to lessen the amount of roving I had to use, but I'm not sure I like the effect. Susan seemed quite pleased though! My next task is to make him a Harley Jacket: apparently he's going to Holland with her on the back of her bike in a few weeks time XD
I hope you like him
WOW, my first blog! I am honoured, your Blogginess! Thanks a lot!
Oooh, Cat... you know how you are a bid4bears supreme...
Well, do you know what I've done wrong that prevents my images coming up within the text in my auction? I'm doing well enough for me to be ecstatic at the moment anyway, but I'd like my listings to be snazzy so I thought I'd pick your brains... any idea?s
I have my auctions end on a Sunday at about 6 or 7 pm, as I find this is the best time for England I've had international buyers before and they seemed to be ok for the end time, but I guess you should add on a few hours for elsewhere auctions? Sunday evening is definitly best though
Wow, stunning photo's! You look lovely! And nice Kilts... no I won't ask 'the question' ;)
My mum just came back from Venice, how strange I love the look of your cake, but I couldn't bear to cut into it: it's too good!
Congratulations
AMAZING!! That curled up one is soooo cute... I was going to attempt a dormouse, but who can improve on that!?!
... do you take imaginary student checks?
Oooh, three figures? I'm flattered, Cat!  I wish!
Everyone, I'll be posting a new Sloth face tonight probably, but he's another not-for-sale, so she is officially the first of her kind to go on sale! Cross your fingers for Naira!
(... I must remember to set it up early... I leave my temporary job on Friday so I doubt I'll have time after work to post auctions!)
Lol, I'm sorry Cat, but you will have to take a ticket from my lovely supermarket style dispenser in order to join my marriage queue XD My over-whelming cuteness affects people far and wide you see!
My Sloths and I are happy to share the plinth of cuteness in harmony, just to add to our cute-osity  They have mostly prommised not to hurt anyone, but my latest, a biker boy called Boar, seems to think it may affect his 'tough guy' image...
Cute, cute cute!!!!

Gaby :rose:
Why, yes I am.
Thanks for the compliment!
Ellen, you are a star! Honestly, I am actually going to make you a gold star and post it to you I am sending you postage costs though, and I've PM-ed you.
I will definitely start with your tips. I'm working on a felty bear right now, but the snout is far too long... it looks like a Womble I'll see what I can come up with!
Ta!
Awww Ellen, a mini version?? I can't imagine such a thing, one the big size is sneaky enough, but a teeny Beardy? Imaging the compost-stealing power!
No one else at my University seems to have strange hobbies like this, just normal things like dance and music, and I do a lot of dancing whilst I'm there, but when I pulled out a sloths face during rehersals for something and started poking away, they all looked at me like I was mad! People kept coming over, saying 'Chloe... what ARE you doing?' like i was sat there plucking a squirrel or something
I've tried to hunt down a copy of the book Ellen, but it's so expensive... Let me look it up again but I might be taking you up on that! i think it's just the complexity of the planes of the face I don't get, as well as how much you can change with needlesculpting. I think I need to sit myself down and decide what i really want my bears to look like too!
Thanks so much for the offer  I may be sending you the postage, you never know!
EDIT: Oooh thanks Marion! I think I'd just missed your post... what a compliment! The one I saw in Berlin had it's face tucked up, so I couldn't see XD
Wow, that's an even more unusual hobby for a 19 year old than this is, Ellen; you make me feel normal Quirky girl... what kind of dogs? We have a Bearded Collie :)
I like your racoons just as much as your bears, Ellen, but your bears have such adorable faces! The problem for me, I think, is that it's easy for me to get away with a simple pattern and a felted face to add detail on the flat-faced sloths, but with bears... I'm trying my first felted face bear at the moment, but it looks a bit like a Womble at the minute XD Not bear like at all! i think I need to take some sewing and pattern design classes, so I can start making my own cute faces :)
I think it's a case of finding a balance between what we enjoy and what makes us money XD Hopefully I'll find out this weekend if there's any hope for them...
Some sense has been made!
Lol! What is this, an old wives convention?!? (or for that matter a young unmartried mans convention, whatever floateth your boateth ) Honestly, I leave you guys for ONE SECOND and look what happens! Clearly you can't be trusted :P
Gosh, I hope the sloths are ok... last I checked they were still around, Natasha Thing is, if anyone tries to shoot them in the forest they hang from the branch, even as a sloth corpse: hunters have to climb up and unhook 'em, so they're not worth the effort of pressuring to extinction!
Thanks Pauline It took an awful lot of doodling, googling and sculpting before anything like this happened, so I guess you could say it's hard! For me it's nice to be able to create something that seems to be a success: my bears will never be as good as the guys on here!
Yep, either will do I'll take a look at it this weekend for you. You could always have the cards printed at the photo place too, that was they'd be all shiny! Oooh, now I want to make some...
Thanks guys! Wow, the blue eyes seem to be a hit... maybe I should reconsider sticking to the more natural brown... I guess green would be nice too :)
I'm so glad everyone likes them... hopefully the cash one of these guys raises for the Lemonade Bear Benefit will reflect it!
Thanks!
Awww Chloe he's GORGEOUS!!! I loved the first Lion you made (I think it was your first?) and this guy's definitely as good as he was Love him!
