Laura

Love your sites- and your darling little bears that make me want to climb into the computer to play with them.

Your encouragement doesn't fall on deaf ears.  I keep trying to learn more and more about the program I have so that I can improve.

And you are right-  just dive in.It wont be 'professional' looking at in the begining BUT it will be out there.

What program did you use, and how user friendly is it?  Did you already have to know HTML or did it translate everything for you?

Dilu

smaller-brown-bear.jpgHow do you pick names?  Sometimes the kids tell me what their names are...(teach me to give them mouths) but sometimes......I haven't a clue

Here is Mr. NONAME....fortunetly he is going to a home where there is no lack of imagination

and then there are critters that pop out of the sewing machine already named!

How do you guys do it?

Dilu

Also how do you put pictures where you want them to go

PPS  I believe there was more shnaps than tea last night-my honey made it, boy does he have a heavy hand. bear_laugh

Dilu

Marie,

It is often said that the most wonderful gifts come in small packages.

I think it is a metaphor.

your most wonderful words come in short posts.....but they are special and treasured just the same

I humbly thank you

Diane

Dilu

Nanc

lets say we agree with you (which none of us do) that you are  nobody

NOW

But can you predict the future?

Do you know for sure that 10 years from now you wont have won
every single award, been on the Today Show, Be in all the mags.....

Do you?

Can you really predict you wont be a big name?

So given this premise, does it change your thinking?

One of the heartbreaks of the quilting world is all the wonderful antique quilts that Great Aunt Fristina made, but nobody knows anything about her,.....and she created wonderful patterns the set the whole quilting world on its ear, but she didn't have them copywrited, and she didn't have her name anywhere and so instead plain old Nancy Jo0nes of Podunk USA PUTS HER NAME ON IT....GETS ALL THE GLORY, MEANWHILe (oops caps lock)  she couldn't sew a STRAIGHT LINE TO SAVE HER LIFE!

Now-hows that for a differant perspective?

ERGO we all need to take precautions to protect our ideas.
hmmmmm

even silly golly makers, I guess

Dilly

Dilu

Janet I would die and go to heaven metaphorically to be able to hear the Pavanne arrangement that you just spoke of.

Oh......I can sort hear it in my head.....what a wonderful idea to have it for oboe and harp....what a blessing it will be to everyone who hears it!

Dilu

Dilu

How does Lean Cuisine sound?:lol:

OK I'll behave

I will try to find something appropriate and easy and good too....

Weight watchers?

Dilu-who preplans left overs-

Dilu

I will try taking some pictures that I have and see if I can get them  good enough.

Also in 1975 he was asked by the Smithsonian to paint an almost life size mural of the capital building, for the our nations 200th birthday.

I have a picture of it and think I can get it sized down....

I wrote the Smithsonian about a month ago to find out if they still have it rolled up in an attic somewhere, I wish I could remember what he said about the size....but it was humongous.

I never got to go back and see it.  I was hoping if they still had it if they also had posters, or picture piostcards or whatever....

Judi  I am so glad thevmess got straigtened out-  I would have been a nervous wreck.  You seem to have handeled it admirably!

I agree....for what they have put people through the least they deserve is darrhea at the wrong time!

Dilu

Dilu

Yeahhhhhhh Daphne!  Alphebetical to boot....yep you couldn't have made life any easier for me!

Thanks you're a doll

Tammy your baby is adorable- I am glad you are here

I am going to be gone the rest of the morning-so I want you all to get the laughs, twitters and gasps out of your system

I forgot that I absolutely love, and cry when I hear it,

COWBOY YODDELING

I don't know why, I can't explain it, but nevertheless

Maybe I should stop and get some therapy while I'm out

I'll let you know what the doc says

Yu ladies who have compiled these lists are really great!

I am printing up the list so I can double check!

Dilu

So Eileen

Is the Lily Pons solo every thing I said it was?

I think that really good music-the transcend the ages music- touches something deep in us, perhaps our soul, and helps replenish us.

I can remember playing in concerts (oboe) when everything clicked, you know what I mean Janet? and everybody was on and it blended so beautifully and even while playing tears would be coursing their way down my face.  ( we didn't have waterproof mascara or if we did I didn't )
It was such a total experience-that I felt like my soul, my innermost being, I felt like every cell was participating and had been touched.

Good thing I wore black....mascara drops on white satin-not a pretty site :D

Eileen

I love your spunk!

Yep- get that room stocked up with mohair and eyes and felt and thread.....can't have too much insurance and at least, unlike real insurance, this is insurance we get to have, touch, use and be happy with.

Sorry I know we aren't supposed to end sentences with with!:lol:

Bless your heart, Eileen, It is absolutely a normal occurence for a parent to have some kind of physical/psychological break down.  The stress you were under was incredible!

It's like spouses divorcing after the death of a child.

Sometimes it is just too hard for a parent watching their child suffer and not being able to help.

Eileen the fact that you are able to see the problems-disorganization and depressions means your battle is half won!

Wow!  Do you really really realize just how far you've come!

Fantabulous!

I am so glad you found your calling...Teds....and that they bring you such joy.

You may have to finish that horse when that first grandbaby comes along though! :D

Was this the most beautiful daughter in the wedding pictures....if so wow....such a success story and it hinges totally on you and her father fighting so hard for her.

Such a lucky lady.  Both of you.  And it explains that expressions on your face in the wedding picture where you are looking at her.  It reminded me of the Piata-only joyful.

You and your honey are incredazellable.  What a blessing you are to the world.

Yes.

The world.

Because try as we like we are not able to live in a total vacuum.  We touch peoples lives each and every day.  It might be the clerk at the grocery store, it might be computer friends, but it is nearly impossible not to have our lives intersect, somehow, someplace, somewhere.

How we deal with those interpersonal contacts is what determines truly what kind of people we are.

And how we treat one person is passed on, ad infinitum.

And isn't it really neat that we are in the part of the world that gets to make products that bring joy!

It is much nicer than giving shots! :P

Dilu

Dilu

He really was a pretty great guy.  First of all he didn't think so....and then through his example he always showed me that we need to keep trying, never give up and try harder to do better...I still miss him.  gUESS WE ALWAYS do miss those we love who go before us.,

...."Lassie" he would say, " did you do your best?"

When I was little I would always feel that I should hav e done better....now I understand what he meant

Dilu-very blest and very grateful.

Dilu

The absolute worst that can happen is I make you guys laugh.....and if that's the worst....well carry on Dilu.....

Dilu

She most certainly does not look like a beaver!?!?!  What is the matter with that man :lol:

Make a duvet cover, paint her room finish an unusual bear.....all tonight?  now I really feel like a slugabed.

and for what its worth- my two cents on pookumsydo--adorable

just adorable, and she makes me smile

Great job Shari, you clever lady you----I have had my tea and and had to re-write cleaver two times....Where us Shelli

oops clever 2 times.....Intercal is going to put a time limit on me- no typing after schnaps.

I'll be Elke at Edinburgh wouldn't mind the schnaps part though-well maybe she would think it horrible that I mix it with ice tea.....

I'm just diggin a deeper hole here aren't I

Ppookums  is really cute, I think you do great work Shari!

Dilydoop

Dilu

Ahhhh the good ol'days

Sue Ann-

absolutely you can have jazz obe, and not just dixieland-ever hear the blues on obe or english horn.....talk about soulful

When I was in boarding school- such a cliche for my age group- It was Chateau Beau Cedre in Montreaux , la belle Suisse.  And next to us by about one chateau was the hotel  WERE they held the Montreaux Jazz Festival.....

I had drinks with Arethra Franklin....(at 16?)  oh but in the disco ball lights who could tell.....I was the only English speaking person she had met so I became her bosom (yikes it was huge) buddy for the night.

Never told my mom :D

I think moms are privy to way too much as it is

I had a blast....her voice was fab and there were sooooo many Jazz greats there-

wow- hadn't thought about that in a coon's age.  :P

See what I mean about it all still being there in your mind-forever......

Sue Ann honey!

Did not Mr. Manilow write the songs that made the whole world sing.....how dare any of us snicker!

To be honest re: Niel

for the most part, he wrote his own lyrics and his own music....and he sold of some to others to perform.

But I liked that he had solid classical training, and could put a word or two together.

And before the cigs ruined his voice I loved his sound.....still do but can't help feeling regretfull about the smoking

My absolute 2 favorites, and no one knows them anymore:

Songs of Love.....from the Jazz singer.

Be from J.L.S.

And yes, I do still listen

Funny story

I worked nights on the adolescent ward in a psych hospital
I was also the head nurse for night shift of the whole fascillity so no one was going to be checking up on me.

I worked with a fabulous guy who was a Psych Aide, kind of an aide a guard and a councellor.....he also loved Niel and he was sooooo Gay that even he laughed about it.  We had so much fun when we got the rug rats setteled down On went the Diamond cds and we would sing and dance our little hearts out, between bed checks and telelphone calls.  He told me that in this day and age only a gay guy would love Niel Diamond.  I told him that I would prefer to believe tht the whole world still loves him .  He was ok with that.  So we lived in my fantasy world at night

In the morning I would put on the Beatles- really loud ( you know how hard it is to get kids up) ;)

Good Morning!

They would come staggering out bleary eyed and confused.:lol::lol:

That was fun too!

OK I still have 5 golly's to joint-have done 6.......ugh.....better get cracking

See if you can find Laures post on her problems with computers-

Go with a hosting company that will let you accsess any time as much as you want....

I would go with one that actually answers the phone and calls back

I was thinking about changing my host and tried calling, left a message no call back

Was on hold with another for ev er 20 min when I asked if this was normal they said no highly unusual

so I called back the next day- again on hold for over 20 min.

Did n't switch to either of them.

Some who support e-commerace are pretty expensive and if you are just starting out that really eats in to the budget.

Also find out who some of the real sellers are using.....

Dilu

Dilu

Judi-  I keep a totally separate account in a totally separate bank that only has money in it when I transfer  it so that I can order something using PayPal  I hope this helps.  Also I have 2 checks that I still haven't depositied- if you know what I mean-  - I guess I don't get there very often-the bank-but it isn't fair to the people who gave me those checks because it causes their balance not to tally right.  So I will take care of that this week.

I know how crazy I get when my balance sheet doesn't reconcile.  It is soooo scarry.  I am very sorry this happened to you and hope they catch whoever did it.  The FBI is pretty good at this sort of thing-catching people who mess around on computers doing things they shouldn't.  Let's hope they can clear up this mess you and so many others find themselves in.

Thank God that your bank was on top of things.  But stilll.......

Shelli-

Can I brag just a little?  My dad painted the Grand Canyon train ride diorama-  It was done a million years ago- I think the late '50's  but I saw it about 15 years ago and didn't look too different.

Do you ever get to the Natural History museum?  Or watch the AFLAC commercials?  The one where the kids are in a museum and you see elephants-  He painted that diorama too.  I think that was early 60's

A little trivia-

that will never do you any good.....

giggels

Dilu

Dilu

Sandi....your bear is really cute....I am glad you are forging ahead.

I never fail to be humbled here by the gals who are so willing to give of themselves.

This is truly a great group.

I've been in a million orchestras...the only other group thing I was ever any good at....and that is a cut throat back stabbing sabotoging business.  hmmmmm

How could anyone be mean when we are dealing with bears who dont tell and gollies who tell everyone everything! ;)

I ordered free boxes from the USPS- if you use USPS for mailing and are mailing over seas and decide to print up your forms on the internet be forewarned- for some reason I can not fathom, the mailing costs are always about 2 dollars less than the web site says.

I do not understand it, but I tell anyone overseas about 2$  less than the web site says...I haven't gotton to the point of havong shipping and handeling- but that would make it easeir- the only way I know how to do it is box up the item and put it on my little digital scale....and go by that weight.

By the time I get it all figured out no one will want gollies anymore!

(joke)

Dilu

Dilu

Oh my goodness

Janet the Poulanc- wonderful  I would love to hear you play-  are you leaning towards the French style or the German?  Or do they do that anymore-  I have been out of it a longlong long time.  I should make a reed and try again.

It was the only group activity I liked, was any good at and cooperated with.

Diane did not play well in the sand box, but she was great in an Orchestra.

My honey thinks that is why my hearing is zshot- Because in high School and college I was in every single ensemble I could get in.

Don't laugh- or if yu do not in writing.  In Hawaii the union called and asked me to fill in cuz they absolutely could not find anyone else.  so I did

The guest artist-I use the term lightly-

Isaac Hayes

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

I loved woodwind quintets, but always felt the clarinet was superfluous....and still do in some cases....oboe snob

I did love it.  a great deal.

But I had to learn a profession fast to support myself
and son

and oboe without the orchestra is like M&Ms without chocolat....so it faded by the wayside and I used the piano for solace.....yu can be a single piano and no one will feel like they are missing half of the music. :P

My father actually went to Paris, toured the factory, and sat down with whoever was in charge and had wine while they decided what to include and worked out the price.

Ahhhhh......It was surprise graduation present....so when I went off to college the wood was still that wonderful chestnut color....hmmmm

I am so glad you play and so glad you love it....maybe it will inspire me....to get back on it.

You never really loose anything.  Yeah the emboucher is way weak now, but the musicality etc can be brought back fairly quickly. Its all still in the head.

Eileen

your  expression speaks volumes- the love is beautiful and you are absolutely lovely-

where is the big hair ape like creature we were led to believe we would see?  Hmmmmmm???

And you daughter is beautiful- how wonderful-

times like that make you glad to be alive.

Love Dilu

Dale is one of the adivsors here, but we havne't seen him in weeks....
He used to come on about every 20 posts and say something pithy and then he was gone.  He had really good suggestions.....

Oh well

Love the remote-

Hello

rollyes:Ahhhhh  another Opera lover....Wagner makes me cry.....even after all these years, and Turindot (sp)  La Boheme.....

Favorite opera impresario? Impresaria?  Lily Pons.  Long since gone to the stage in the sky.  She was a coloratura- If you ever get a chance to hear her on a recording:  "The Bell Song from Lakame"....it is worth the effort to find the recording, she was so good.

I have yet to hear anyone top her for clarity, range and generalized musicality.

I will clean to 60's rock- it helps get through the mundane.

Will I be bumped of the web if I confess to

uh

liking Neil Diamond

I know I know he is soo passe-but so am I

oh well.....

if we are revealing deep dark secrets.....

And lets face it Eileen.....Shakespeare had imagination.  Now they just shoot you or blow you up.....but Shakespeare.....hot wax in the ear canal.....now that's imagination :lol:

Besides- if you are going to do a mad scene anywhere, you can't beat Lady McB.  Ophellia is ok floating down the river with her flowers, but it doesn't actually show the depth of depravity and insanity as Lady McB.

I'm with you  Shakespeare.

"Oh that this to to solid flesh would melt, thaw and resolve itself into a DEW......."

Oh if weight loss were so easy....course suicide does have weight loss as a side effect. hmmmmmm

may a little too morbid for a Sunday afternoon.

I am actually putting off jointing and articulating another golly.  My least favorite thing to do

ok

now that I have humiliated myself by admitting to a fondness for Diamond.....I had best get the little fella finished

Dillydallydiamonddo

Dilu

Great point Shelli- and for ever unscrupulous icky out there there are 100 wonderfu. people.  So I think your bear went to some one who will really love it! Maybe even a thousand.  It is hard to believe the badbear people are more than 0.01%.....isn't it?

A silly thought to add to the mix; who doesn't have a camara?  So why don't they wait until the bear comes and take their own pics.

Hmmmm

Well, maybe because you're quality is better....its the only legit reason I can come up with.

It is interesting for all of us to be thinking about-even if we are not planning n selling, (moi) and sort of find ourselves in the business rather behind on things, (me again) and play catch up.  So you have brought up some important things

I keep s file system of a picture of every bear/golly that I sell or give away and on the back write who, where, what, why when etc....That way I know.  I also include any paypal receipts if they used paypal....that way I have their address and I think knowing the country is really neat.
