Marie,
You tell me your favorite color and I will make a special Gollly for you....girl or boy?
let me know
I have some little nekid ones running around and waiting waiting for eyes, but I have been dressing the bigger ones....yesterday.....and today.....There are 3 12+ incher boys and two girls
I am in love with noses! There is so much I can do with a nose.....quaranteed no 2 noses the same.
Old man Moses
Still smells roses
Under the rose bush
Moses nose is
How do these people who make like 500 bears or gollies in a limited edition do it?
First I would be bored simply silly doing the same thing over and over....but also I never would be able to keep them exactly the same!
Anyone ever have any experience doing a slew of something the same each time?
Dilu
We get to live a little North of Crescent City- And go there often because my hubbyhoney's favorite rice isn't available anywhere around here. It is really eye opening to see the high water marks on the buildings, and realize the awesome destructive power that a tsunami can have.
In college in Hawaii, north shore, they had us leave quick clothing and shoes and socks at the foot of our bed, so that we could get dressed and go if anything ever happened....never did.....
welll except for the geckoes
and the cockroaches
hated those cockroaches
I thought they would carry away the building
until my uncle came family came to visit from Huston-we-have-a-problem-Texas.....
Sue Ann you folks in Texas need to stop feeding your cockroaches steroids!
They opened their suitcases and at least one would crawl out every time.!
:mad::mad:
Ugh
does everyone have the feeling like they are crawling somewhere too close?
Like the border is too close for me!:lol::lol:
Oh Jane
such wonderful bear girls! Thank you for sharing them.....I think you have the most wonderful dreams......go back to sleep and lets have more fun!
Kirsten lost? never happen....Honey there is one of us on just about every continent----we'll find you....:P
Well except the Anartic.....
We'll send a polar bear Wooo Hoooo:lol:
dily
My goodness, what clever ideas from al of you! Who woulda thought?
Is it wrong to go ahead and put the head on the bear and then do eyes ears nose and mouth?
I think I MISSED something. Hmmmmm
dilly
Hi everybody.....
The best place in the world to be during an earthquake???
On a water bed!!!!:lol::lol::lol:
You feel like you are in a bowel of jello- its really neat.....I spent some growing up time in Burbank-
Whenever I felt an earthquake in Burbank or Mariposa,(kinda northern central Sierra Ca) I would run and jump on the waterbed.......back in the old days when we had waterbeds and trugged through snowdrifts 20 feet deep just to get to kindergarten!:D
Marie-San darling I am really glad you are here too
I too would rather deal with an earthquake than a tsunami or tornado or hurricane.....yikes Now those really are scarry
I think for me, maybe others, the fear comes in the waiting-----so for hurricane, tornado and tsunami there is some warning....but earthqakes.....they just haven't gotten that good at predicting those yet....so by the time it is over we think to get scarred......and then it is time to pick yourself up and dust yourself out and throw Laure's boiling water out but keep the baby.
I wouldn't like sitting there wondering did I do this, did I do that.....and wonder when is it going to hit.
But if any of you have a waterbed and live in earthquake land, try it, not to make light, but it really is fun....
Dily:P
Hi Judi
I was off yesterday- stuffing a whole new gaggel of bigger gollys with noses!!! I am very excited about the noses cuz Gollys really do like to stop and smell the roses, and I heard nothing but complaints from the noseless ones!! :D:D
Thank you for your kind words Judi- I really do take it quite personally to heart, and intend to print up your post as proof!!!:lol: I am so glad you like her, and am really glad she got there in one piece, ( you just never know with pouty little gollies) and she got there earlier than I thought she would.
I do believe that Judi's Bear has the same color eyes as Judi....beautiful beautiful eyes and beautiful bear. You had to have painted those eyes yourself, I have never seen such beautiful ones at any site....
Hmmmmmm Hey Intercal Guys.....How about a boutique for specialty items, like one of a kind eyes, etc....
I am betting there are bearing folk who would pay the extra for drop dead gorgous eyes like Judi's and Shelli's and all the others doing eyes. I find them fun because they take no time at all and come out so great with the fab instructions we were given....Thank you again Shelli...I like to make them at night, instant gratification if if I haven't had chocolate that day!
At any rate....I am glad she got to you ok Judi and doubly glad you like her, and thank you for your kind words. They really do mean alot!

I was off yesterday, So had the advantage of reading this topic from the begining....wow.....I am not surprised, because not much people do surprises me. We had a pedophile at the psych hospital who was baby faced and pleasant and affable-and I used to live next door to Ted Bundy- ( looks to die for and many did)
First, I know it is sometimes hard for us to rise above the cruelty, me too, and I should SHOULD have the skills, right? But we are human, or golly, or beary, and cruelty just insn't in our nature....but it is in many other people's nature. I am so sorry when I hear about someone being mean to Judi, or Shelli or Sue Ann..... or anyone I care about....
"You can't copywrite body parts" THANK YOU JUDI!!!! I have agonized....but then I joined here and I look at all the critters, gollys and bears alike, even though we use the same 'parts' the styles are so very very different; and I for one would be tickeled to own any a one of them....I aM HINTING TO MY HUBBYHONEY FOR ...what's next, birthday or Christmas....oh Christmas....long wait.....oh well
At anyrate- it isn't where we place the ears, or eyes, it is the essense that these critters are infused with that gives them their style, panache and character. I can put my ears in the exact same place as Shelly, but will it be a Potbelly Bear? (Not by a long shot :D)
Those nasty people are really just speed bumps in the road, or as they say here in the backwoods Oregon, 'roadkill'. *( there are those who might say dinner.) Yewweeeee ugh!
The ladies here on this board- well all the regulars, seem to have such wonderful personalities and sweet spirits. (come on you lurkers, we know you are reading....)
Thank you Laura for the information, cuz, I wouldn't have known it. A word to the wise sort of thing.
I guess I have been lucky- nope never sold- just bought. I had ordered a beer stein for hubbyhoney for Christmas.. antique, oh so wonderful, but it broke in shipment. The man I bought it from could not have been nicer, and more fair. All my buying experiences have been along this line.
To keep it in perspective; how many people live in the US... How many are in prison...percentage wise its pretty pretty small.....I want to believe that's the way the world goes.
When I lived in Germany I only had one run in with a truly nasty woman.....( and she was my mother in law!!!):lol: Every single other person I ever came in touch with was wonderful....and my experience was fabulous.
Soooo buck girls and lets get selling?
Gollyloves to all

Just a thought, ladies,
1000 years from now someone is going to stumble over a bear in an excavation pit somewhere. And everyone will want to know its worth, and who made it.
Just who was the magnificent artist that created such a wonderful masterpiece. (they won't have mohair or real fur in 1000 years)
It will be a big mystery if the little guy isn't labeled.
Course in 1000 years none of us will really care will we? :P
However let's say that Laure takes off and becomes the foremost bearmaker in the world. And even in a thousand years the BBC is still doing Antiques Roadshow....and the guy thinks it's a Laure bear, which makes it worth a gazillion euros, or franks, or dollars or pounds, but it could also be a dilu bear, which would make it worth a perhaps a half pound or euro or dollar.
Wouldn't it be sad if the person with Laure's bear lost out on the gazzillion dollars, and forever, mistakenly, sorrowfully, thought she was stuck with a dily instead of a Laure?
Just a thought
from someone who has not gotten labels, and has not gotten pictures of all the bears she has given away :(
Dily
Maybe not Hayley, but boy, everyone in that picture is just too cute for words!

Kirsten:
she is a blue and gold Macaw.and she is telepathic and toooo smart. She is scarry sometimes. All I have to do is think, THINK, chocolate and she starts her IWANT dance.
Paula:
I have the opposite problem with music-I start to really listen and then forget to sew. And if it music that has words, or rhythm I forget to sew but sing and dance....not a pretty site. I am not very discerning in my music choices,
I am partial to the three great "B"s of music
Bach
Beethoven
Beetles
or was that Bartok
or Brahms?
O Dear
Fortunately the critters arounds here aren't critics.
Although if I make a mistake on the piano, Kirah, (the parrot) squawks at me. It's like being 8 years old all over again and trying to please mom. Ha! :D
I can use bad movies or the news as background noise to tone down the ringing in the ears
And the ringing in the ears is the price I pay for years of Orchestra and band (oboe is a four letter word) rehearsals and performances
oh joy....isn't life a riot?
You just never ever know what's going to happen next-but it is always an adventure and even the not so great adventures have their high points and glad happy joyous moments....
Dilu :)
HI Jane-
I confess.....I am a closet newsaholic, so usually I have it on a 24 hour news program. But if the all-news-all-day is tooooo depressing, like endlessly going over gruesom details of a childs murder I will switch to something inane-a movie.
Also I put on music. Because our house is dome shaped the accustics are phenomenal. I just wish we had a better system-
The problem with great music is that I stop sewing in order to concentrate.
Also I made the mistake? of buying this cute little baby toy that plays music when you roll this little drum like thingy- and our parrot has learned to do this with great efficiency. So she expects me to sing the words along to her little songs. It's nice that she is smart enough to interact, like a 3 year old, but I sometimes think if I hear 'old Macdonold had a farm' one more time I will no longer be merly wonky but will slid down the drain into totally bonkers.
I do the tv because it has commercial breaks, and when they come on I get up and do things that need doing. It reminds me not to sew all day, and helps me remember that there is a garden to water and weed, and, heaven forbid, a house to cleam.
I am lucky that my hubbyhoney is oblivious, and could not care less, as long as everyone is happy, including the bird, then, he is happy.
For any newish bird owners out there, beware of putting your parrots name in a song, she/ he will want you to sing it all the time.
All the time.
All the......time.....
Dilly dally
sewing's right up my alley
but singing should never be done
with a voice like a frog
while I make Gollywog.
Life has never been so much fun! :D:D

Wow! at last a use for the dreaded 'double knit'-
actually I am joking, the real dreaded double knit is, ugh. polyester, and I am sure that isn't what you meant...cotton?
Laure I am so glad you brought this artist to our attention, some of us, (me) would never have had the opportunity to see her work otherwise..
Di
Shelli
that is so interesting about Lisa's work. I had never seen it before, so I appreciate Laure and you bringing it too us.
This Lisa must have her anatomy down pat...at least thats what I thought when I saw those arms.....just like old lady arms.....like looking in a mirror.....long sleeves here I come.
Maybe she is Michelangelo reincarnated.....no I know.....
However he did break church and state laws back in his time....he would sneak in to the morgue and autopsy the bodies he found, because he felt a compulsion to understand.....when you see his marbles you can see that his night time excursions really paid off...
gruesome, but look how hard we try to understand and improve our art.
Anyway....thank you for this topic.....and the link to Lisa's website....

Marie, is it possible that your machine has a triple stitch ? Usually used for knits and stretchy stuff...does 2 forward one back then 2 forward one back? If you do try it, you may find you no longer need or want to stitch each piece 2 times.
Also try putting your tension a wee bit tighter, if you are worried about the stitches showing when you stuff...
Kim- I certainly take no offence that you like to hand sew everything...honey I admire that. I, in case you can't tell from my posts, tend to be a wee bit more hyper than normal folk, and don't have the patience.
However doing golly mouths and bear noses does relax me, probably because I see it as embroidery.
good to have stress relievers, right?
Although I suspect Penultimate Penny and I get our stress relief in a more liquid form.:D
hahahaha
I use the spa!
You thought I was suggesting something else, Mizz Penny?
Well that's ok too.
hugs to each and every one of you wonderful hand sewers...It is an art form in and of itself!
Wonkydi
PS....Mr. Technowizard has put a pop-up blocker on the computer and now the spell check will not come up.....is that tooo funny?:P:P
Sorry Intercal Computer Wizards....
OK now I get it....so I should say
Eileen your ugly little bearling is just too cute.....cuz he really is
I have given my honey a task : to figure out how we can joint a head so that it looks up or down....see I am jelous that you can do this...it is too neat....I do bobble heads now and again, but I would really like to do the head up and down thing.....
Then I could make a little bear saying his prayers before bed....
You are very talanted...
Huggs
Dilu
I'm late....sorry girls
I use the machine for everything I can, on the 2.5 gollys and bears and on the bigguns.
There trick is to outline and then cut. I would never get anything done if it was all hand sew....muzzles are are usually hand sewn on the little bears and on the bigger ones just the last inch or so to the nose seam I hand sew....
But I came at this bear thing backwards-having sewn clothing for nearly my whole life....yikes! Oh good, just did the calculation, only 46 years.
I feel so much better, I was afraid it was going to be some awful astronomical number....:P
I machine sew the real furr babies too....no you silly wollikins , not the cats....the ones made of mink. etc.
Marie-when you go to make a mini bear, try drawing your sewing line, not your cutting line....it is easier on the small ones if you can see where you are supposed to sew....also I cut out pieces slightly larger in proportion than the larger bears, so that I have something to hold and guide.
OHHHHH my ears hurt....did I just hear all you purists scream about wasting fabric???
yes it may be a larger piece in proportion to what you would have with a ten incher....but considering the little dickens is only 3 or 4 inches tall it really isn't much at all....so let it go....I really waste very little,
really

Hayley, I got a late start-I found out about Judi's class 2 days before it started. But she gives wonderful instructions, detailed pictures and I felt that I learned alot. I still need to download lesson 4.
I think her idea of practicing on lill ol wallmart bears is great.
I am still practising- between the rainstorms......ugh! Will summer ever get here???
i do reccomend her class. I think the more we learn, even if after we learn it we don't use it on our own bears, helps us to appreciate this art form more.....
And boy do I have a lot to learn!!:D:D
Dilu:P
Oh OH OH my sides are splitting, my tummy hurts and a trip to the loo would be a good idea!
First was Shelli's and Penny's jokes, on that other topic thread, and now this....Louise my dear....oh dear oh dear.....Well Phyllis should feel complimented, cuz it's all uphill from dillerdom...and the old guy....uh huh....even my honey thought your posting hilarious.
Hey Pennypoodles, you are tooo quiet over there.....I love Louise's new name for you!
Thank you again....ladies one and all....I heard that you can loose weight laughing!
So, after the loo the scale.....
Wonks :D:D
In Switzerland 38 years ago they did not have very many billboards. But I remember one, because it made me laugh so hard;
(Marion I wont spell things correctly, but please correct me)
Tout va mieux avec COCO COLA.....
So, I learned my German from commercials and children's shows, and my French from a billboard?
Too funny-
of course that was in the days when Coke tasted really good.....just isn't the same any more.
Oh my gosh, next I'll be saying that I clomped to school in 20 foot drifts of snow and lived on bread and water....I've become an old fart!
Help.......have to change, have to change!!
Ohmmmmmmmwonkyness is healthy......
Dilu:D:D
Eileen
I am confused.....where exactly does the UGLY part come in?
I don't see ugly
did I miss a thread somewhere?
Your little guy is really cute.....
not UGLY
Ugly is such an UGLY word- don't you think?
More pictures, are we voting? Well more pictures is my vote too....and don
don't stay away so long....its hard on us....we miss you..
Dilu
Wow Shelli
great ideas, especially for those of us new-
I wrap my littleones in papertowels, then put them in a glad ziplock and blow it up with a straw.so there is some air cushioning-I don't know how well it works but would like to....then I put them in a way too big boz with lots of padding.
My honey say it's overkill
Thank you all
Dilu
Salted rim type drinks? Hmmmmm sounds refreshing.....:D
Judi
you know how I feel-I wouldn't have taken your class otherwise.
I love what you airbrush pro-ladies are able to do to your bears-absolutely works of art!
Everyone is allowed to be prickly once in a while-and is entitled to be loved through the prickly period and after! So don't worry
I love your idea of some cheap wallmart bears to practise on.....I feel relieved, as I don't feel I have a good enough grasp yet. Thank you for that...
My honey makes me do it outside, cuz of the parrot (very susceptible to what they breathe in....and with all the rain it hasn't been easy-so I am way behind!
Dilu
Aww Rita-your first attempt? That's what happens when you are a master artist. Wonderful job, I like the concept of the neck looking up or down- very clever of you lassie.
(my adopted father was Scots, when I was young I always figured he called me lassie cuz he couldn't remember my name, I came to realize that it was a term of endearment.
He is truly a wonderful creation-in the truest sense of the word wonderful.
Thank you for sharing your pictures-hope you still have sun today-cuz we surely don't. My tomatoes are threatening to mutiny
Hugs
Dilu
Hi everybody
I do defrag about 2x a year.....but the temporary file thing....total news. Winney-might know you would have such practicle advice-
we write on the calandar when the pacific power guy is coming to read the meter cuz it helps to unlock the gate...
why not write down when to delete? I think I will
Thanks guys- I really didn't know
Marion, C'est dommage....I just can't remember that much of the French I had learned. I was told when you start dreaming in the language you are trying to learn you are really doing it right....I still remember the morning I woke up and realized I had been dreaming in French! I was soo excited!
Penny- you would have been unique even if you had 10 brothers AND 20 sisters!!! Let's face it, just not everyone can be Wonky!
Huggies to all
And I don't mean adult diapers! :D:D
Dilu:P
1. All you ladies having to do battle with zits.....have your doctor check your homone levels....frequently our levels are out of whack and this can lead to zittipoos.
2. Winney gave excellant advice on skin care; but, BUT : Don't forget the aboslutly most important thing we can do for our skin.
It's free
It's easy
But don't do it after 6pm or you'll be up all night
DRINK WATER!!!
Lots and Lots of water, at least 8-10 8oz glasses
Really!!
Nurse Dilu
OH I just love seeing all your pictures....we would recognize our TeddyTalk club anywhere....
well....maybe not O'hare airport or something like that, but at least at any teddybear convention!
It is so fun seeing all of you, I personally think that there is no such thing as a not beautiful woman- unless the woman is mean spirited, evil, wicked, and downright bitchy....those types can be ugly because they are ugly inside.
. But when a woman is a wonderful creature, so full of love that she pours that love into whatever she does, gardening, bearing, cooking, whatever, this woman is truly beautiful.
So Penny throw away the bags- your beautiful
Jane, " firmly stuffed, wobbel joints and a big smile" honey that big smile is beautiful....and you glow....you probably don't see it, but I do
Marion, here's a SECRET about languages and accents.....( I have lived in Switzerland(school) Italy, Germany....the secret is sooooo sillly but it is true.
If we try, if we make an effort to learn the languages where ever we live, 99% of the people we come in contact with will forgive us all out misspronunciations, our total absence of correct grammar, the use of wrong words....they don't care!
They think our accents are "charming"
They are pleased that we try
They honor our efforts, no matter how pathetic those efforts seem to us
Soooo ma petite chou chou; sie sind tres jolie.....hmmmmmm:):)
I should be forgiven anything that was learned more than 30 years ago!
And Marion, just wait, what we see in you that you don't see, it will come, you will grow into it.....It's in your face, give yourself time
and don't worry about your accent....we will love it!
