I subscribe as well, nothing yet.
I always like to centre the nose part of the gusset first. I find the centre of the nose part of the gusset by folding it in half and marking it. I then do a few small overcast stitches to attach it to the seam of the side head pieces. I find if I don't centre the head gusset I end up with a crooked nose. Then I usually sew from just above the eye on one side all the way around to neck. The I go back and finish the other side.

Its a matter of preference. I have seen bears with just a little bit of wax and others with a fully covered nose. You can also put nose shine on after you wax it as well if you want a really shiny nose.
Some mohair tends to fray more then others. I found alpaca frays a lot as well as a lot of the really sparse mohairs. What are you using for fray stop? I found out that some fray stops drys really hard and stiff, which makes the fabric difficult to work with. I like to use a watered down leather glue for fray stop, drys clear and doesn't go hard or brittle at all. I trace my pattern onto my fur and then use a paint brush to paint the mixture over the lines. I let it dry and then cut it out. Mohair is so good to work with.
I learned how to do leather noses from Linda Benson. She has a wonderful how to guide that was published in the ABC magazine a while back. She may have a PDF file for it though. Hopefully she drops in here and posts for you! Her username is Linda, you could try pm'ing her and seeing if she has PDF copy of it.
Congratulations!! I love that magazine, just have to wait for it to make it over here to Australia.
I get a lot of my supplies from Bear Essence in Victoria, also Teddy's Bits in Sydney. And of course the lovely Jenni at the Teddy Tree

Have bought from all three of these stores as well. All wonderful shops!
Love ABC magazine. I have a huge pile of them!! There is always a few back issues floating around on ebay as well, I have bought tonnes from there.
Have you tried Melissa at Art of the Teddy bears. She carries the woven back synthetics. But I think her longest white is 12 mm. She does have a longer cream white colour.

Have you tried probear?. http://www.probear.com/com/shop/pi-1499 … tegoryId=7
It was made by Ellen of Ellen Borggreve Design.
I am glad you liked him Julia. I have had that scrap of beautiful silk fur for a while, it was too small for a full bear. I like the head pattern so much that I now need to design a body for it!
Thanks for doing the tree this year
Can't wait to see more ornaments on there.
OK I'm bad I meant to post my picture last weekend.
Here is my lovely ornament from Lyn of Brimbin Forest Bears. Thankyou so much Lyn! Now I am off to hang him on the tree as it is finally up.
I posted mine a few days ago. I have also received my ornament already! Will post a picture asap.
I actually managed to get my almost finihsed on the weekend. Just needs the final touches and will be ready to post.
Just got back from my holidays and spotted this swap. Count me in as well.
Welcome back Clare
Thankyou very much for sharing these pictures.
If I am at home I get very antsy if I don't have internet access. But when I am on holidays I rarely use it at all.
I wish I was. My first trip to Europe this year and it ends up being in October!
Welcome back Krista

Love that tongue!

He looks great! I have been trying to work on my prototype this weekend. But my nephew is visiting and I have not got much sewing done.
I Love Lisa's red bears. I managed to buy one from her recently.
Love those pawpads! Once I get these four competition bears out of the way I can start working on my realistic bear.
