Hi Gail,
I also use beading needles like Ruth as they are very fine, but I also sometimes use the short length needles that I think are meant for quilting. They are a bit thicker than the beading needles, but I would think that any needle you feel comfortable with will do as long as it isn't to thick, as you don't want to have any visible needle holes.
Lisa!!!
He is just beautiful!
and I am not at all surprised he was snapped up immediately.
What a lot of detail and such an endearing little face
I love him.
I think it depends what you search under as to whether it shows. If you look under bears and best match it doesn't show but if you do bears/artist with best match ,it does show at the top. if you do bears with ending soonest ,it doesn't show up but bears/artist and ending soonest, it does???? It only seems to show up at the top of the page if the search is really narrowed down I think.
oh yes Paula, I have lots of Spike Milligan memorised
There are holes in the sky
where the rain gets in,
but there ever so small,
thats why rain is thin!
and....
Today I saw a little worm
wriggling on his belly
perhaps he'd like to come inside
and see what's on the telly?
and..
A very rash young lady pig,
they say she was a smasher,
suddenly ran
under a van,and now she's a gammon rasher!!
there are loads of longer nonsense ones as well, but I can never remember all of them in the right order. I remember buying "the book of Milliganimals" and "Silly verse for kids" with a book token that I probably got for my 7th or 8th birthday. I still have the books but the pages are very yellowed and well thumbed now.
Woo hoo! apparently I am 22( thats less than half my actual age) but I think it may have come out like that, as it is very like one of the exercises on my daughter's Nintendo DS brain training game, which I have had a go at a couple of times(even the sounds are the same). I like games like that, but my memory has always been quite good anyway.
OMG poor Vicki! I can't imagine how that must feel. I hope they catch the ********s that did it, and whilst it is just "things"that are damaged it's still not nice, especially after such a lovely day on Sunday. Sending lots of big hugs your way
Hi Laura,
Veronica is very pretty, well done.
I was wondering if she was Veronica as in Veronica Lake as she has her hair swept over one eye??
If Ruth is going I will too, as she is giving me a lift I will try and control her headless chicken impersonation so she does not make too much of a scene!
Oh Yvonne,
They are gorgeous! I went to see your website as well. I think my favourites are Lilia and Opal.
I seem to like girly bears at the moment.
I am visiting Hugglets so I shall be sure to come and see them in the fur so to speak.
hello everybody
Here is another panda, a bit bigger than the last one I made. Her name is Plumpanda (all run into one word as she is a little on the cuddly side of slim!) She is just over 4" tall, I just thought the colours went really well together. I opened my stash of vintage long pile fabric and a small piece of cream fabric was sitting on top of this lovely plumy purple colour.....right another panda I thought
Congratulations Samantha
Very well done, I love the little group on the sleigh ride, they are really having fun
Well done to all the other winners too.
What lovely pandas Gail and Gail

Gail
(You wait for one, then 3 come along at once!lol)
Here is my first panda for the challenge. Not at all what I set out to do!
I was trying to draw out a pattern for one of my more normal size of bears between 2.5 and 3 inches and I could not quite draw it how I wanted, so went and had a coffee instead. Then I thought, well I haven't made a really tiny bear for quite some time ,so drew out a pattern for a really tiny panda....and about 24 hours later....here he is! He is 1 and 3/8 of an inch standing and a teeny smidgen over an inch when sitting down. He has no front paw pads(the foot pads were hard enough to sew in!)but he does have teeny weeny pulled toes. His head is wobble jointed ,the joint has 4mm disks and it was really hard to have enough room inside his body even for that tiny size, but I am really pleased with the way he turned out. Right ....back to the drawing board for something I can see a bit better whilst sewing
Oooh me too Paula,
I like the challenges. I have a panda design inspired by the "head design challenge", but I will start again from scratch and do a new one. I am glad it has a September deadline, as I seem to be working most of the time at the moment providing more or less full time cover, even though I am only supposed to work three days a week!Mind you, knowing me, I will get so inspired that I will have finished in a few days!
Hi Samantha,
I am hoping to come along with a friend from work, if she will drive. I am ok driving down the road to Tescos but much further than that and I become a wibbling wreck (must get more practise) I really do want to come as I would really like to see how my sister Ruth gets on at her first real life show. I attended my first as an exhibitor in April and thoroughly enjoyed it. If I don't get there I know it will turn out a brilliant day for everybody. It is such a worthwhile cause, it is bound to be a big sucess.
PS are you doing one next year as well?maybe I could get enough driving practise in to come and be on the other side of the table then.
Oh I know exactly what you mean Alexis!
I am also a fan of the frosted fabrics but I love the others too . If money was no object I would have a square of each one, as it is a bit of a problem for me, I make small orders but try something different each time.Make sure you keep a note of the colours you particularly like when you get them ,so you can reorder when you run out.I can get about four little bears from a square, but I do make them quite tiny.
Not only are the fabrics wonderful to look at, gorgeous to feel, but ( and I may be a bit weird here ) they smell so pretty too LOL
oh no Ruth!,
you will have to ask them sweetly for a breakdown of their £8.00 charge and what it is for exactly,I would think that the 31p could merely be a very slight fluctuation on the exchange rate at the time it was calculated, which really would be mean. See if you can work out what it would be now and if under £18. 00 , I'd shout !!!(it will make you feel better anyway, and I am sure the person on the receving end will know you don't mean it personally)
I love that site Sue Ann, they always have such cute photos and such funny captions.I have to make a daily visit to see what is new. Those Pandas are really really cute
Hi Paula,
I have had a bit of a slow down with making bears at the moment. I did my first show a couple of weeks ago and was working flat out to put finishing touches to a few bears. I was thrilled that I sold 5 bears  and it was not an overly large show, just about the right size for my first one I thought. I did much better than I had expected...it makes me want to have a go at some more shows, but I have sort of run out of energy and need to recharge my batteries a bit. It is also manic at work at the moment so I dont have alot of energy at the end of the working day. I work in a Building Society so everybody has been frantically opening ISA accounts like there is no tomorrow! If only I had the savings to put into one I would open one myself (may be if I do more shows I could sell more bears and build up some savings!). I am also thinking about a possible entry for the Readers Choice awards in Teddy Bear Scene, but I have not come to a final decision on my design yet. I have a week off work next week so I might get some designing and sewing done
The only one I have heard of before is Hearth Tax. I have come accross it when researching records on line to help me trace my family tree. I think it was a tax levied probably in the 1600's according to the number of fireplaces you had in your house, I think they also had a similar thing at one time taxing the number of windows( on the outside of some very old houses you can see where windows have been bricked up to reduce the tax that had to be paid) The reason I found it was because there must have been a district register of those that had paid(or not paid) the tax due on their houses.
Tiny Hugs,
Gail
Sorry you are having such awfull problems Paula, and hope it can all be sorted soon.
I am afraid I am with Shane and Dilu.....Macs are Brill!!!, no nasty viruses written to hurt windows users, easy peasy to use and never any problems (so far)The only thing is, you have to wait a bit longer for mac versions of some programs to be available. I would never have a PC again I am afraid, but as I said ,hope it all gets sorted for you without too many further problems.
Tiny Hugs,
Gail
what a beautiful little puppy
Tiny Hugs,
Gail
Well done little sis!!!!!!!
very well deserved
I'll phone you later when you have stopped so much and can speak!!
Tiny(but big really) Hugs,
Gail
yep we had our pancakes with lemon and sugar too. Daughter Nathalie had hers with chocolate sauce and toffee sauce as well(the ones you bought us for Christmas Ruth)not at the same time, different pancakes I meant.
Am I the only one who has to stand and cook everybody elses pancakes first!? they all sort of queue up for the next one before I have a chance to eat even one,
so I always get the last one and then the tiny one thats made from the mixture thats left,..... and why is that last one always smaller!!!
Tiny Hugs,
Gail
I am hopefully doing my first bear fair this year too. I have my forms all filled in and ready to post off. Laurie... its the Ipswich fair so at least I can wave at you across the room . Ruth you are always so orgainised! you will be fine. As I haven't quite posted my forms, I am yet to get into a panic, I expect that will set in when I get a notification I definitely have a place. I think this first bear bair tips thread is a great idea, so thanks everybody
Tiny Hugs,
Gail
