Here's Charlie & his toy chicken!
I have eight chickens and couldn't resist making a bear with one. Charlies is inspired by our white leghorn Sybil!
Charlie is one of my smaller bears and sits at 5 inches.
He's made from dense slightly wavy pale toffee mohair.
Ultrasuede shaded pawpads, feetpads being needle sculpted and shaded. He has shading to his face also and perle cotton nose and glass eyes.
Charlie is cotterpin jointed throughout.
Chicken is made from a dense white mohair.
I've made him little wheels (non functioning).
He has glass amber eyes, ultrasuede comb and beak and is weighted as is Charlie.
Adoption fee is £100, plus £6.00 postage (UK), overseas please contact me.
Here's my newest creation, Charlie and his chicken!
Charlie has his toy chicken. Being a chicken keeper, I couldn't resist but give a bear a chicken. So Charlie has his!
I'm working on a new website, so holding off with putting Charlie on the old one. He is available for adoption though! His details are below:
Charlie sits at 5 inches approx and is made from a dense, slightly wavy, pale toffee mohair. His pawpads are ultrasuede with needle sculpting and hand shading. His chicken is made from a dense white mohair and has glass eyes and ultrasuede comb and beak. Charlie is cotterpin jointed throughout.
If you are interested in adopting, feel free to drop me an email.
Thanks for taking a peek!

I'm debating whether to put him on ebay. If and when I do I will post the link to his auction.
William will be my last bear for a while, as I'm going to give my website a re-do!
If you'd like more info on William feel free to drop me an email sarahsbruins@aol.com.

Oh my goodness this has fuelled some thought!
Cyndee - I'm rather like you and wouldn't dare ask!
I think it was because the collector had previously bought a rabbit from me and had had a discount then, although it was her first purchase from me. But then to ask for a discount on another, then ask could I lower it any further when my offer wasn't low enough for her, I thought was a bit cheeky! She also made the point that she'd seen him on my site 'for a while'!
I've noticed that some people haven't heard from collectors again, after they've bought a few bears. I must admit this makes me a bit neurotic! I also had a lovely collector from France, who was buying everything that I made. She then started sending me gifts of artist bears from her collection! I have a feeling that there might be a teddy bear artist out there who may now have a few gifts of my bears! At least if this is the case they will have gone to beary people!

Boo hoo I wanted to go!
It all looks wonderful! My other half isn't brave enough to drive me to London. Thanks Jane for the photos. Wouldn't have seen all the lovely stands without them.
That lovely elderly man who bought the bear! I'd have weeped, it was so touching.

It is hard to say no isn't it?
But our bears are that price because we feel they are worth that price and if they go much lower than that, obviously we are then selling them for less than they are worth. I offer Layway to make things more affordable too, so the collector would have had that option. But as you say Andrea, they will have to find something else!

I recently had a lady who had bought a rabbit from me last year or so ask for 'a better price' for another of my creations, as she had five birthdays next month. As she had bought from me before I offered a fair discount, only for another email to ask if I could make it any better. Needless to say, the answer was a polite 'no'.
Does anyone else have this happen and how do you deal with it?

Having looked at the number of replies to this post, it's good to know that we all feel the same!
I'm the kind of person that feels I have to give 100% to everything. I feel I have to strive to be a domestic goddess, with a shiny, tidy home and tidy, well cared for garden and bearmaker extraordinaire. I also know it's not a healthy outlook. I think we all tend to worry about peoples perceptions of us. My new years resolution is to loosen those reigns a bit and know I can't 'do it all'!
In answer to your question Daphne - I don't! A part time job has taken up valuable bearmaking time. Plus the six cats, five chickens and two guinea pigs, take up time. BUT, I wouldn't be without any of it. The job though basic, is around people whose company I enjoy and the animals (though taxing at times!) make me smile. The chickens are great comedians!
In the end I think we all have to do what makes us happy. Surely that's what life is all about?
P.s. Ellen, I'm printing out your post too!

Oh, I love this! Didn't play too long though or I won't sleep tonight!

Thanks Lisa!
The carrots may look tasty, but I think they might be a bit hard to swallow
Hugs, Sarah x
I agree with absolutely all of that! With six cats, five chickens and two guinea pigs, I suppose its understandable that I do!

Big congrats for passing
I can't stand people like that!
One of the assistants in one of our greetings card shops practically throws your change at you!
Another thing I don't like is when assistants talk about previous customers to their colleages while serving!
I would definitely complain. If we don't complain people like that will just carry on treating people badly.
Anyway, my venting is over!

Thank you Jaina and Marilyn
Unfortunately Bear Basics only do black and Christie Bears only do black in the balls and varigated.
I think I will have to get a grip and maybe get skeins and wind them onto some bobbins!
I will keep looking though!
Thank you for taking the time to help

Can anyone tell me where I can get Perle Cotton balls in No.5 in the UK?
I much prefer the balls as they don't get all twisted like the skeins and they do look 'nicer'!
I've sent myself loopy for a long while trying to find a supplier
I'd like to get a nice array of colours. There's nothing worse than getting a bear all ready for his nose to find you don't have the right shade thread!
All suggestions gratefully received!

Thanks Jeanne and Angel
My next creation will definitely be a rabbit

I really loved him He went to a good home.
I'm itching to make another rabbit as I haven't for a while.

I always loved Pickle's quizzical expression!
You can tell from it that he hadn't seen a :photo: before!
