I've used all three suppliers mentioned and am always pleased with each one.  Intercal  even called me when they had questions about my order.  Great service !  The shipments take about 10-14 days to get to me in NS from California.  With the $ so high it is a great time to stock up if you are ordering from the US.

Tammy

Fantastic Lynn, you will do a great  job.  I appreciate you stepping up and taking over. I don't seem to get much time on here anymore

Tammy

Is it the soft black fur that you have with the nap running in an abnormal direction from bottom of the coat up ? I agree with Shane, I recall being told that this is sheared muskrat not actual seal.  Regardless it should  will work nicely for a 15" bear.  I made some 12" from that fur.  The pelts are a little thicker than mink or rabbit so just leave large openings.  It should be easier to work with than beaver actually.  Just use it the same as any other fur.

I was given  a real seal coat once and the fur was very pretty but very coarse with a really thick pelt.  I never did make anything with it as the fur just didn't seem teddy bear friendly bear_original

Good luck with your bear !

Tammy

I have been wanting to try this too and I was thinking of rooting it in with felting needles like they do with reborn dolls.  I guess it depends how much of a tuft you want.

Tammy

Cortland-Side-Left.jpgSeems like forever since I've made a bear to sell.  Summer got busy I guess, but now I  am happy to be back into the groove.  Please meet 7.5" Cortland made from recycled mink fur.  He is available for immediate adoption on my website.

Sorry, He SOLD right away.

Maria , it sounds like your trip was all you hoped for and more.  What a wonderful experience it must have been, almost surreal I can imagine.  How fantastic that you got to meet so many bears, especially Hope.  You've done so much to help raise money for these bears that you must have been on cloud 9 to finally meet them and the researchers in person bear_thumb I can't wait to see some photos.
