Hi Eva, if you don't mind advise from a newbie, been making bear for just over a year
Here goes...............
, this site is fantastic for all kinds of info, have you found the library yet, it's absolutely full of everything, if you fancy trying mohair or glass eyes, its all there and the beauty is if you get stuck or aren't sure, just say and you will have about 10 answers before you can blink. If you want to carry on with the little beary guys you are making thats ok too, we love it all here, please post piccies, its nerve wracking but everyone is so kind, it really helps you to become more confident
Patty a huge congrats, I hope everything goes really well for you, it must have been the good bear vibes, or maybe you just have a really nice home
Oooops, I didn't know you had to have individual insurance, I am sure the public part is covered by the show, when you are there but personnal insurance heck!!!
Oh yes lots of pics please
And a huge Good Luck, I am sure it will be a terrific success
Oh Sophie, how awful for you, I hope you managed to save a few personal items, most things can be replaced but piccies etc
Good point about the cars though they are the most expensive thing we own, yet we often forget them.
Will be thinking of you, I hope it doesn't take to long to put things right and don't let it spoil how you feel about the house
Aaaaahhhh, I love curlies, he has a great expression and an equally great name
Can vouche for Mo, she really is a lovely lady with a GSD doggie, I have been using her for a year
I am sure she will help anyone if she can
Her ebay ID is bobmobella
You and me both Millie, what good fortune, I hope one day to find a Faberge item, that I could sell on and pay the mortgage off, but an old steiff.......................no way would I let that go
AAAAHHHH little babies called cheeky spices
They are so sweet, you have such a beautiful way with these bears
Tami he is just stunning
Keep, keep, keep, thats my advise, he will always be your first, never to be replaced (well I would keep him
)
He is lovely, such a cute beary face
How gorgeous, he is sooooooo sweet
Hi Alexis, I just wanted to let you know you were not the only one who read many things into this initial post
I decided not to voice my opinion at the beggining as I have had my fingers burnt on a few occasions on TT by rushing in, with me being super sensitive I am so glad that I didn't rush in.
I can really understand were the show promoters are coming from and I thought Mel's post was excellent in expressing a balanced view.
I attended my first show in March and intend to do the one in August as well, I would have signed for a third show but they have decided to host it on the same weekend as the one I am committed to, how is that for bad planning, they are within 70 miles of each other.
This committment and I did not sell 1 bear at all, I am committed to all possible things that will increase awareness in the general to our bear artist community and the demise of any magazine or show is a sad thing. My feelings towards the magazine is, that it would be dreadful if the publisher was unaware how popular this magazine was and closing it was just a question of not being able to find a suitable replacement, in that event I would like to see a suspension rather than closure.
As for shows I would gladly do more but working full-time prevents this, I do know that I intend to exhibit at this show hopefully for years to come, regardless of sales.
As to the internet, well I would not have started on this road without it, it is a fantastic tool and enables the isolated and unable to communicate with the world.
I also have two exhibitions planned for my High Streets branch of a building society, they frequently allow different artist to showcase in their window.
For me, the world always changes, magazines come and go yes, but we do all need to fight, figuratively speaking to keep our freshness and enthusiasm alive, to think of new ways, to marry the olds ways with the new internet ways, to change with the times.
I was asked the other day by a new wool shop in our town if I would be interested in taking a bear class, I said nooooooooo way, why? I felt I was not good enough, maybe I will go back and ask them if they still fancy the idea.
Also if TT don't mind next time I do a show I will hand out not only my own cards but some leaflets with TT's website and a few other artists website names on, for those that live a long way away.
So with regards to the original post I am suspending my hurt feelings and am now understanding that this post was only ever about ways to help and promote the Bear Artist Community
I hope this does not offend as it was not my intention
Melissa he is a beauty  love those wing and such a perfect name
Thanks Chrissi, I think the engineering one probably has a select audience as well
Oh I could just go a-knocking on the door right now, only take me about 15 mins to get there and I know where it is in Bourne
The only reason I thought of e-mails was because it was instant and if we mobilised now, they would indeed get to work on Tuesday and find a mass plea but you do have a point about the letters though
What does everyone else think? e-mail or letter
Ok I am a member of another bear group and they are all shocked too
So I have an idea..............................
Could we all on mass e-mail Warners, to tell them that they must try to keep Teddy Bear Scene alive.
Do they realise the impact they have had by pulling the plug, I treasure both my TBS and TBCI and count the days down for when they will be in the shop
I really feel for Kathy and Sophie I am sure it must have been a hard descision for both of them and they must be feeling really bad that Warners have done this....................don't its not your faults, you both have to do what is right for you
But do Warners realise how popular this mag is, well maybe we should tell them
Let me know what you think, BUT don't shoot me please
If you think it a good idea, let me know, and spread the word to collectors, other forum, group etc
Can you imagine the guys at Warners when they go in on Tuesday morning e-mail melt down
I hope this doesn't infringe TT rules , I just felt we had to say NO
Thanks Tami, It kinda makes you glad to be alive
Congrats Bobbie on 44 years tomorrow
Daphne, shame on you   I have to admit I was a little puzzled
What I didn't tell youse all was the other side of the room is a war zone.......................I took only choice pieces out of my huge pile of stuff for my new work space and am not sure what I am going to do with all the rest
Kelly, We could all live in a cupboard, Bobbie does the cooking, I do the books, now all you need is a cleaner, mohair sorter, greeter for visitors.................................................
When can we start
Its like a fairy land and I too live in a place where we often come down in the morning to find we have not locked the door, our GSD is on hand though especially if she thinks the postie is getting too familiar with the house.
