I have same horrible compulsion to look at the computer ever time I go past it! Even though I know I have stuff to do.
Funny thing is, I was wondering earlier today, how I ever lived without the internet - obviously I must have done ............................... but I can't remeber what it was like............. isn't that dreadful.
If I find anything that eases the symptoms Laura I'll let you know.
I'm logging off now ......................... oh maybe I should just check the Showcase ...................
Hi Amanda
I thought I'd give it a go - I've had a box of it tucked away for ages. I'm using it in a 12" bear (that's quite small for me), I don't thinkI'll be able to manage it for anything much bigger. I can see how it would work well for minis.
I quite like the feel of the finish, the bits I've stuffed so far certainly feel different, they also sound different too, sort of hollow.
I've just finished stuffing a bear head with kapok, I wanted to try a more "traditional" filling - no wonder someone invented polyester!
It seems to keep packing down forever, while you suffocate in the loose fibres. Although it's packed in really firm I'm a bit concerned that it will deflate a bit over time. I was just wondering if anybody has used it and found that it goes a bit soft after a while - I think I'd better let the head sit for a bit before I joint and finish it.
Before I go ahead and finish the bear I'd be interested to hear what you girls think of it.
I haven't been doing anything earth shatteringly exciting but I have been working on some patterns for smaller bears 10-12 inches and I've finally suceeded in making a 10" bear that actually looks like a bear - Lord knows it's taken me long enough. Thanks to all the tips on enlarging and reducing patterns I finally managed it!
Thanks girls!
Judi what a wonderful article
Jane you say the nicest things  - what a lovely lady you are.
Eileen - Im SO glad I'm not alone!!!!!!
I'll work on a photo, then again I could just post another of my furry friends ..............................
Who? Me?
............... Jane did I post my avatar bear in the user photos section? I think I may have been confused .......... it's a sad state of affairs
. I did delete it pretty quick, but I think some of the browsers may still be picking it up. I can't see it on my pc.
On the subject of user photos, I've had a quick look and can only find a couple ............. but they are way, way too scarey to post. As a result I have spent the last 10 minutes in front of the bathroom mirror, pulling the skin on my face in different directions to see which form of plastic surgery would iron out the wrinkles that seem to have suddenly appeared. Why is it when you look in the mirror, you think you're still 21 and then someone entirely different turns up in a photograph!
I'll work on a photo ............................. do you think Photoshop has a wrinkle diffusion button? Right now I'm off to bed with a huge pot of face cream. That should fix it!
Kim
She's wonderful - her little legs and bottom are just so ............... squeezable!
Fantastic job.
PS In case you're wondering if I'm wandering around with saggy, wrinkly stockingsv because they've all had the tops chopped off - it's OK I don't wear them! I buy them to make little bags for steel shot that I put into arms and legs.
Hi Debbie
You've made one - very appley!
I agree with Paula and Kim - if I'm not too late, I'd hang on in there and wait until his muzzle is trimmed, his eyes are in place and he has ears. The shape's great and you may well find that the centre parting isn't as obvious once everything else is in place - it may just give him a different look, then if you still don't like the way the pile is laying you can "style" it in another direction.
As Heather said it's not really a bald spot it's just the direction of the pile and it should be fixable. When I have a bear with unruly hair, I cut off the stretchy part from the top of a stocking or pop sock - (I'm not sure if that's what you call them?) and then I damp the fur, brush it in the preferred direction, pop the elasticy bit of the stocking around his head to hold it in place and stick him somewhere warm for the night. Because it's stretchy it stays in places well and allows the fur to dry underneath, it usually does the trick.
Helena, she is gorgeous.
Oh Nancy .............. she is adorable. What a sweet, sweet mouse!
What a wonderful creation - you can even make piggies look pretty!
Beautiful bear Shelli. Absolutely beautiful face.
Judi
He's amazing - I can't believe that he started off white - where did you learn to airbrush?!?!?!?!
More gorgeousness!
Shelli ........................................... WOW!!!!!!!
That's wonderful Paula - I'll hurry up and nip to WHS for mine tomorrow!
I just found this link for using sculpy to make fairy wings ..........................
Thinking about it - couldn't these be printed onto an ironable transfer paper (I'm not sure what it's really called) and then transferred onto an organza of some sort.
Only thing is I'm not sure how they'd stand with copywright etc.
Hi Shantell
I'm not sure where I got this from - I'm sure I didn't find it myself. It may be of use though.
Hi Shantell
I sew front and back. I usually machine sew the ear pieces leaving the bottom completely open. Then I pin them to the head anchoring them in 3 or 4 places with bobble headed pins or large T pins depending on the size of the bear. Then I start at the bottom of the ear and work my way up the back with ladder stitch, as I turn the corner and start on the front I poke the corner of the ear inside the ladder stitches with an awl and pull hard on the stitches. When I get about half way down the inner ear (always making the stitches in the ear piece slightly larger than those going into the head) I push the needle through to the back of the ear, take a small stitch and come back through to the front of the ear and work my way down to the bottom corner. Again as I round the corner I poke in any offending corner pieces. I then stitch about half way up the back again, tie it off and sink the knot into the seam with the needle coming out somewhere on the front of the head. I'm not sure if that makes sense?
