I am so proud of this little dragon that I just had to show her off! Just for fun, I thought I'd try reducing my pattern for my 4.5" dragons and seeing if I could make an extra tiny dragon. This is the end result: Amethyst. I forgot to actually measure her, but she's 2 inches long, at most. Her nose is about a quarter inch wide.
In this first picture, she doesn't look too tiny:
...but this is her and one of my "bigger" dragons (4.5 inches long):
...and this is her with a dime:
She's made in the exact same way as my other dragons, so she's also fully posable:
That's a lot of pictures, but I'm just so happy with her! She's so tiny and cute I'm not usually stunned by my own work, nor am I generally prone to bragging, but I just think she's so cute (not to mention ridiculously tiny - she has eyelids that are only a millimeter or two wide, and I sewed them on)!
Amethyst won't be for sale, but I'm hoping to make some more super tiny dragons!
Thank you, Heidi!
Wow, thank you everyone! All those comments are so encouraging
I've been busy lately, so not many new posts, but I have been doing a lot of work on my dragons! This is my latest to go on Etsy: Sandy. You can visit him on Etsy here: https://www.etsy.com/listing/121657075/ … ure-dragon
Sandy is made of ultrasuede and is fully posable, thanks to a full inner armature of wire. He has amber-coloured glass eyes and a big smile. He is 4.5 inches long, under 1 inch wide (not counting his wings when folded), and has a wingspan just under 4.5 inches.
My fiance and I have also been working on writing stories about my dragons and building a world for them to live in. It's sort of a running work in progress. Sandy's story is here: http://dragonsofcwmjones.blogspot.com/2 … aults.html
Thanks for looking!
Oh my goodness. This is adorable.
Thank you!
This is another of my latest dragons - a special order wedding present. I'm really pleased with how it turned out :)
Hi all, I just wanted to show off another dragon This is Aeglos; he's a baby ice dragon I made for my fiance (who has been great at encouraging me to make dragons - he's even figuring out how to make dragon eggs). He's approximately 3 inches long, and less than an inch wide.
Thank you!
This is my latest dragon! His name is Springer, in honour of our English springer spaniel (his name was Buster). It also seemed an appropriate name because he seems to have a bit of a rainstorm color pattern, and it frequently rains in the spring...
You can visit Springer on Etsy here: https://www.etsy.com/listing/102885118/ … -sculpture
In order to show that all my dragons really are fully posable, we were playing around with how to pose Springer's arms when he was standing on his hind legs. He wound up playing air guitar, so then I had to make a guitar as a photo prop. (it's not really a high-quality photo prop, so I don't plan on selling the guitar along with Springer, but it sure made for some great pictures)
Thank you, Gladys!
Wow, incredible!
Thanks Sarah!
I'd like you to meet Lucas, the third dragon of this pattern to be offered for sale. This design is entirely my own, start to finish, so my dragons are pretty unique.
Lucas is made of ultrasuede and is fully posable, thanks to a full inner armature of wire. He has light amber glass eyes (and they're 3mm in diameter, to give you an idea of size). He is 4.5 inches long, under 1 inch wide (not counting his wings when folded), and has a wingspan just under 4.5 inches. In other words, Lucas is tiny.
You can visit Lucas here on etsy: https://www.etsy.com/listing/102433936/ … ure-dragon
Thanks for looking!
Hadn't thought of that. I'll look into it! Thanks for the suggestion!
Does anybody know if there is such a thing as metallic ultrasuede? If it actually exists, does anyone know where I might be able to find some? Or is there maybe a way to make fabric metallic? I want some gold and silver, and maybe some copper or bronze, for some dragon ideas I have, and ultrasuede is the best material I've found to work with.
Also, this may seem a bit oddball, but does tartan (or even plaid) ultrasuede exist? I'm guessing not, but I would love it if there were such a thing.
Thanks!
This is Dominic, the second dragon of this design/pattern to be offered for sale! He is made of ultrasuede and is fully posable, thanks to a full inner armature of wire. He has glass eyes of light blue (and they're 3mm in diameter, to give you an idea of size). He is 4.5 inches long, under 1 inch wide (not counting his wings when folded), and has a wingspan just under 4.5 inches. You can visit him here on etsy: https://www.etsy.com/listing/101850827/ … -miniature Thanks for looking!
I love the color!
I've been working on coming up with a good dragon pattern for years, and I think I may have finally gotten it! This is little Arianne, and she's my first dragon of this pattern to be offered for sale.
She's made of ultrasuede and is fully posable, thanks to a full inner armature of wire, and she has lavender glass eyes. Arianne is 4.5 inches long, under 1 inch wide (not counting her wings), and has a wingspan of just over 5 inches.
You can visit her here: https://www.etsy.com/listing/101405820/ … -sculpture Thanks for looking!
Haha, I'm the exact opposite I almost only make microminiatures, so full-size bears are a real challenge for me! There's so much material when you work on something larger that I can't even figure out how to hold it all! Not to mention actually having to use a sewing machine and pins and having to feed the material through evenly...then there's the stuffing...how much can one bear need? Seriously though, hope your mini-making goes well! Would love to see pictures! (and turning is also easier if you use hemostats; they have a blunt tip, and they can grip the fabric well, though I like the idea of using a bit of stuffing). And yes, I must admit that the ears are a bit of a challenge...
This is my latest bear, little Penny. She's only one inch tall, and she's fully jointed. You can visit her on etsy here: http://www.etsy.com/listing/81251255/pe … teddy-bear
Wow, there are some great first bears here! I don't know where mine is...I think he's hiding in the basement somewhere. I think I made him when I was eight. Didn't want to use a pattern, so I drafted one by looking at a bear my mom had made. He's quite...unique :)
As far as pictures go, I used to have photoshop, but no longer, since I got a new computer. I recommend Picasa. It's a free download from Google. http://picasa.google.com/#utm_campaign= … erm=picasa I haven't figured out how to resize photos in Picasa, so I just use Paint for that. Pretty much any computer with Windows should have Paint.
This is my latest bear, little Seamus. He stands two inches tall and is fully disc jointed. He might be tiny in size, but he has a big personality! You can visit him here on etsy: http://www.etsy.com/listing/80130351/se … teddy-bear
This is one of my older bears, made in 2007, but he's still a good-looking little bear! I've finally gotten around to being able to list him online, so now he's up for sale on etsy! You can visit him here: http://www.etsy.com/listing/78629302/me … e-sea-ooak He's three inches tall, thread-jointed, and has a posable tail
Winston is my latest addition to my etsy shop
He stands all of two inches tall. I finished him last summer, but I didn't come up with a name for him until recently. I went with "Winston" because I think he resembles Winnie the Pooh
