For artists and collectors sponsored by Intercal...your mohair supplier and Johnna's Mohair Store
Hi everybody,
Due to recent deaths in the family, I'm going to be moving within about a year, in order to be closer to my remaining relatives. This is definitely going to mean a smaller house, so I need to part with some of my collection. Has anyone here ever done this? I only have one artist bear that I'm planning on getting rid of. The others are random eBay finds over the years. Where would you guys go to sell your collections? Ebay? An estate sale?
Peter, I love your new Steiff! He's everything that a Steiff should be.
I've just treated myself to the Ikea jumbo Klappar elephant for Christmas (via eBay). He's incredibly snuggly.
Just found this guy today. He looks similar...
Yes, I'm definitely tempted by that one.
Even though it's not "the" elephant that I'm searching for. :)
P.S. Just found the Wild Republic one on Ebay for $25.99 plus shipping.
@dangerbears
The second elephant you have pictured is by "JuJu" plush....they are available new on ebay.
Whoa, 60 inches! Definitely too big!
I'd buy him if he were about 30", though.
Well, I don't think it's currently being made- maybe 90s-early 2000's at the latest. And it defintely wasn't a Steiff. And that last one certainly looks appealing! Thanks for your help!
Hi everyone,
Does anyone collect stuffed elephants in addition to bears? I like stuffed elephants, and I'm trying to locate one that I found on ebay, loved, but somehow managed to miss. It was gray, fairly large, somewhere between 20 and 28 inches, and lying flat on its stomach with its legs stretched out. It had round, chubby, baby-elephant cheeks and a straight trunk, not curled or lifted- sort of like this Dumbo: http://www.ebay.com/itm/371118783787?_t … EBIDX%3AIT I remember it having a textured fur (slightly shaggy, or nappy, again similar to the Dumbo, not smooth or shiny, and no realistic wrinkles).
Does anyone know of a brand that would have produced an elephant like this?
Well, he came today and although I'll have some re-structuring to do, I'm pleased with him overall. His head has a few loose stitches; his arms are crooked, and his legs were sewn on left-to-right! Poor fella! But he's wonderfully charming and snuggly (once I removed a stray pin from his arm
)! I'm so glad I added him to my collection. Now I need a nice British name for him.
Look at that sweet muzzle!
To think they're as prickly as that, already!
Sure is cute, though!
He's beautiful!
Did the panda have a rubber snout, like this one?

It looks like Gund and Knickerbocker made quite a few musical bears back in the 50s-60s, so maybe you'll be successful. Best of luck!
He came home from summer camp to find that his parents had divorced, his family had moved, and all his toys thrown away by his mother.
This is the saddest thing I've read in a long time. Your poor father!
Just watched. Super cute! ![]()
Oh, I like that one! She looks like a koala.
And the dresses really suit them. ![]()
I don't know anything about Kathe Kruse bears, but I love this one!
I love the long arms and floppy legs, and the feet! So sweet!
He went on sale! 50% off! So I treated myself.
Now THAT'S cute! I love his pointy snout and lovely shapely arms!
Awww, it's the Japanese waving good-luck kitty! There are waving cat figurines all over in Japan- very popular symbol of good luck.
I love the little tiny tail!
Awwww!
Look at those feet! Someone's going to be a big boy.
Thanks, BlackmoonBear! I'm trying to decide whether I want to try making a similar one or making an offer on this one. He remonds me a lot of my old handmade mink teddy, which I literally "loved to pieces!"
So gorgeous!
