They let you bring scissors, Judi? Really? Which airlines? I would invest in a pair of round tipped ones for that privilege.....what about needles? That's OK, too? I have just always assumed needles would be way off the 'allowable' list.
I have never seen 'Parisienne Essence' here. Sounds wonderful. Anybody know if there is a counterpart in the US? Do you know what it is made of? I ordered some 'black walnut ink' (?) from a site that was recommended here..hasn't come yet. Seems like it could be used about the same way.
Danni, Thank you. (blush!) :rolleyes::)
I've just got to mention something...It's the oddest thing. Whenever Penny says something poignant, which is quite often, her avatar looks as if it just spoke the words. I'm not kidding. To me it seems to take on the emotion of whatever is said. It may be the same with others' as well, but that is the one I've noticed, and sometimes Shelli's. :)
Feeling somewhat refreshed after my nap, although I DID get woke up prematurely.
cute little wonkers!!
Rita, that is the cutest, cutest little bear. I love his cub-like shape, and his face is just adorable. You are very talented.
Eileen, thanks for the bear pic, even if it is a tease. Your teasing has done what it should.... We Want More!!! I like the cygnet idea...very original. I can just make out the cygnet markings.
I think Penny was quoting a character from a classic novel/movie who always wanted to hug and squeeze soft things, and call them George, but I can't recall the name of it...I'm pretty sure it wasn't tobacco road....please tell us, Penny-Bright.
As my eleven-year old grand-daughter would have said at age 6, "GISDUSTING!!" I'm saying it about manipulated hairballs, however, where she would have said it about boys.
Penny, You got me!! I am indeed gullible. Anyhow, so glad to know you're OK with your wonderful self.....Now should I get miffed because you spoofed me??;):P:D
Penny....Dear Penny,
Get over it, Girl! You are NOT an ugly duckling. You really look FINE, totally objectively speaking, even if I didn't know what a charmingly humorous crack-up you are. Do you think you would lose your charm if you quit seeing yourself as ugly? You certainly would not. Come out from behind your clown mask and be the wonderful, seriously funny REAL clown that you are.
Said in Love, with Hugs,
Hi Dilu, glad you overcame the website problems and are back in action. I need to delete temp. Int. files too. Another thing that helps things load faster is to defrag your hard drive. I have only done that once since I've had my computer...2 years... (didn't know any better til I was told) and it made an immense improvement.
Good advice, Mandie! Sorry you had to learn it they way you did.
Yaaaay!! I love a happy ending!!!
Yes, I made the bear. Its face is cernit, a polymer clay. I learned to sculpt teddy faces in Earline Maples Bromer's class. I enjoy sculpting, but in the future would prefer to make "cuter" faces. The only thing I don't like about the sculpted faces is that they are hard. to me, a teddy bear should not be that hard. I saw some dragon faces at a show recently that were soft, the artist told me what I can use to get soft faces like that, only problem is, the material I would be using does not accept pigment once it is finished. He told me a process I can try that will allow me to open the pores to accept color, then close them again. I'm still chicken to try it, but I have spent considerable $$ to get the materials, so I've got to give it a go eventually. :/:)
:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D
I prefer this comparison, although the first one is probably more accurate.
Probably so, Hayley, (BTW, Hayley Mills was my childhood Idol)
I think for most, if not all of us, our bears are thaerapy in some way, and as such, we are personally attached to them.
Three cheers for Fun!!!:lol: (cheering smileys)
I'm not exagerating when I say that All of the nonsense on this board has become a big encouragement to me. It means soooo much to me to have a community of nutty bear makers to cavort with... more than I can convey. :):|:(:D:o;):/:P:lol::mad::rolleyes::cool:
I personally have a thing for gorgeous teddy bears, and your current avatar, Shelli, is one hot number ... yet another of your always fantabulistic creations.
Hi All,
Danni,
Thanks for your comment on the Bears & Buds article. As for my being an established artist, I should be by now, but just when I was starting to gain some recognition, my whole world blew up when my 24 year marriage ended suddenly, to my surprise. That was at the end of 1996. I married Werner in 1998, but it has taken until just the past couple of years for me to gain enough sense of stability and feel oriented to where I could focus on doing bears as business again.
Even so, I am a deadline "ditz", never able to keep track of those pub. deadlines for submitting themed bears or contest bears, although I have managed the themes a few times. I entered for the TOBY way back in about 1994 when my skills were still fairly immature, but haven't gotten it together for entering any magazine contests since then (so far). I did enter the Crystal Teddy Awards, and I think I came close to winning a prize, but unfortunately there had been a wood-heating stove accident in my studio just prior to the contest, and my entry smelled like wood smoke, which, of course, is a big "no-no". My theory on deadlines is that, like my life, it will take me a bit of time to get oriented to the schedules. I really want to do it because deep down inside, should I admit it (?), I have a kinda competetive spirit in me, not that I want to lord it over anyone...quite the opposite, I love seeing others in my field succeed...but I have a personal drive to excell. So many thanks to you Shelli, for generalizing the mag. contest seasons like you did. I hope that will help me remember. Also, I hope hanging out on this board will help jog my memory for major deadlines.
Sorry to pry, Danni, but what are 'ocka' Aussies?
I know how it is, going into an artistic daze, Kirsten. I lose all track of time and just kind of zone out into creative bliss.......this often occurs after midnight. It can be a disadvantage if I find I want to repeat something that occurred during a bliss blitz!!!
Ditto, Congrats to Millie and Christine. For some reason, TB&F seems to arrive later for me than for other folks, so I haven't seen it yet. Maybe the mail carrier reads it first.
It's a well known brand of 'senior' diapers, Penny.
Penny, you'll have me wearing "Depends" before my time, Girl!! :P:lol:
I'm with you ladies regarding perfume that walks in the door long before the person wearing it....gaggaroonies!!! I once was confined in a small place with a couple of young teenage boys who had been sampling the cologne aisle at the local dept. store. They thought they were really stylin'.....Whew!!! :o:rolleyes:
