Yes welcome Barb!!! We'd love to see some of your bears!!!
Guys, I don't know what I would do without you!! Thank you all, Dilu:D, Carolyn:D, Louise:D, Gail:D, and anyone I've forgotton!!! I have since sewn a bear with perfect stitching - WONDERFUL!!
Kim, I have a hard time with my photos. They are never clear enough, close enough, in fact most of the time they look as if they've been taken in a tunnel!!!
If I do get a good (ish) one, it's more by luck than judgement. I do take lots and lots of the same bear, I can then get at least one decent (ish) one!! I was going to get a photo programme too so that I can lighten them etc if they need it, a lot of them come out very dark.
Keep you chin up!:)
Hi Hayley,
I'm going to do some pattern cutting in a mo...........!! Thanks for your encouragement!! I'll let you know how it goes!!;)
Good question,
I have some old keys which I need to age some more - I'll look out for those over here Shelli, many thanks!
Marie that must have been a shock. I hope you and your family get this sorted soon, and are able to relax again.
Remember we are here for you always................
I'm lucky to have been treated to a new sewing machine by my husband - one of the Brother Computerized ones. I'm finding some of my stitching seems to stitch a few stitches fine them do some really looooong stitches for some unknown reason??
I don't suppose anyone knows what I'm doing wrong do you?? I've done everything they've said in the manual - but to no avail...........
Hello Catherine,
I've had lots of requests from previous buyers to put them on my mailing list - trouble is I haven't got one and haven't a clue where to start!!!:(
Don't think it's your bears - they are absolutely gorgeous!!;) I'm feeling a bit down in the dumps at the mo - the last 2 bears I made are disasters - Ugh!!! Oh the cost of the materials:mad:
Chin up, you're a wonderful artist and friend to us all!!:D
Okay - but I have to admit it's a bit of a cheat!! It's a fancy hairband or 'scrunchy' as they're sometimes called. I have a whole load of them on a kitchen roll holder, you can get such pretty ones!! They're perfect for the job!! I only use them on my contemporary bears, I do handmake them for my old looking bears, ususally from vintage lace.
Hey Danni!!
Seems they all agree!!:D Thomas is absolutely gorgeous - fantastic work, are you going to do some more??
Hey!! It worked, how clever do I feel - and how easy it is when you sit and concentrate!! There will be no stopping me now!! I think maybe I'll shrink the future pictures though!!:o
I thought I'd try to be clever and try to add a picture to show you, hope it works!!
It should show you 'Mayflower', who I made for my mum's cousin as she gave me the upholstery velvet and set my mind thinking........he matches her chair she had re-upholstered!! Hee! Hee!
You're right Sue Ann, Something's Bruin is artist's Jill Baxter's name.
That is a great idea!!! I'm having two of those too!! That will save the ever growing mountain on my desk, which in the end leaves me about an inch square to work on - Oh I'm soooo untidy!!
Many thanks for sharing!!
Oh Sue Ann, Beezley is GORGEOUS!!! What a cutie!!
I use clear nail polish to varnish my noses. I also bake them with a bit of a paper clip in the back (Like a loop of a glass eye) and super glue them as well as sewing them in like a glass eye.
They've always come out great!
Judi, you are so amazing!!!
And Winney, my daughter's beginning to suss, but I still believe, have you got any pics of the vintage Santas?? How lovely!!!
In fact all the other creatures are fantastic!!! I might try a puppy.................!!
It takes a thread like this to let us know that we really don't know everything about everyone we chat to - and yet we probably 'meet' more here than what we do our 'nearest and dearest'. I just wanted you all to know my prayers are with you all.
I've only just read all this, what a riot!!! Shelli, UGH!!!! Makes you wonder what the desert rats get up to doesn't it!!!
BUT I've got to say, as a brit, we have come a long way since the sandpaper toilet paper - I remember that as a child - boy that brings back memories, scratchy ones at that!!! Even we have Charmin now!!! Well done Kerren by the way - lovely bear!!!
I don't know if you have Andrex where you are, but they do 'puppies on a roll' - now that's sick..................
Oh Jane, you poor thing, I really hope you feel better soon...........xxxx
Paula, thank you so much!! I'm lucky to know Jo Vernalls (Bears of Grace) and she will be close by.....................Phew!! I've heard her talk about trade buyers, she has tried to explain to me how that works, but to be honest I haven't a clue. How do you suggest I tackle one (should I get one at all??!) but I'm a real softie and could get talked into anything!!
Thanks, I really do appreciate your advice.
Ahh thanks for that Daphne and Catherine,
I keep thinking about it and my tummy lunges, but I'm sure once I'm there I'll be fine!! Good advice about the credit card/paypal, although I may not sell a thing, but the experience will be fantastic!! I'm going to practice my table before I go.
Good luck you gals with the show, I'm sure you'll have a totally clear table at the end, and well deserved too!!
I'll be certain to let you know how I got on, and thank you so much for all your lovely advice:)
Hi Paula!
I just wondered, with me doing my first show in my home town in October, if you had any tips to give?? I am a bit worried about credit card payments (should I sell anything!!) but you know what I mean!! I haven't got any way of taking them - I suppose that's that, but it concerns me.
I'm so a visitor and not an exhibitor, please, any tips would be appreciated!!
Thanks!!
Oh Winney, I didn't know you had been ill:(, hope you're feeling better soon, we've missed you!!
Can you tell us where we can have a sneak preview, I'm longing to see your bears!!
