Gina, are you sure those aren't spoof emails?  I received an email a few months ago out of the blue saying I had won an auction I never bid on.  I sent it to the spoof people (can't think of the email address) and sure enough...that's what it was.

Did you logged into Ebay and direct your question to the help desk and not just replied to the original email.  I know Ebay is a pain but my one and only experience with them on a pulled auction was very friendly and they were very specific at what I needed to do to correct my auction.

Just a thought...

You silly girls...I posted a message from Dilu earlier today...it's in this area entitled..."I found Dilu...the Golly's have her."

Take a peek and see what she's been up to.

Judi,

The time I was actually thinking of Twila was playing old ragtime music.  The cows were just standing my the fence singing away...when she stopped playing...they stopped mooing.  It was absolutely adorable.  I laughed and laughed.  I know they've done it other times but I'm not sure what she might have been playing.  They do seem to like anything with a beat to it.  Silly cows...I just love them...I get all excited during calfing time...those babies melt my heart.  I just wanna bring them in the house and love all over them...not a good idea however.  :)

How funny you should mention cows...my housemate plays the piano (she's been trying to teach me...HA).  So we have her beautiful grand piano in the living room and the cows stand outside the fence and sing when she plays...okay it's mooing...but I think they are singing.  It's hysterical...

Trying to get them to do the cow cow boogie...so far no luck!!!

shantell

Dilu,

I'm sorry I spilled the beans for you...I just knew others were worried and I didn't want to keep the secret to myself... although I didn't know it was a secret  ;)

There are too many wonderful people here to help you along...remember that.  We won't let you fail!!!

Congrats to both of you!!  I read this post last night and actually have been pondering your question Haley.

I think everyone has a very good point in asking about marking copyright on your pattern.  However, does that really accomplish anything...in my opinion...No...only if you choose to pursue someone who might infringement on that copyright...and the burden of proof would be on you to prove that they did...is it worth the legal headache in the long run...probably not.  I think anytime you allow your pattern or creative idea to be published you take the risk of someone copying you.  In some ways that in itself is a huge compliment...at least in my opinion.  Believe me I understand how frustrating it must be to work so hard on a pattern to only have someone else sell it as their own...no it's not happened to me obviously but I can't tell you how many patterns I've worked on that have ended up in the trash...well...more than I care to admit.

In the long run, you get your bears, your concepts, your "bear business" out there in the public eye.  If it only catches the attention of one important person then yeah!!!...it's a stepping stone...a door or window which only you can choose to walk through.  I believe you only reach goals if you take risks.

There...my uneducated opinion...I'll go back to my pile of fur now... :)

Good luck!!!

Seriously...

Actually she is a very busy gal...Nancy Tillberg has asked her to do a Ebear U class on Gollymaking.   Isn't that exciting for our Dilu!!!

She said...

I am boppinb in every day, but I can't stay long.  Nancy Tillberg asked me to do a calss on Gollywogs for E-bearz, and I am under a time crunch trying to get the lesson plan written, pictures taken, and so on.

I have never done this before and there are computer issues that I just don't know how to do.  Very frustrating.....

So there you go...

Sorry Dilu if I spoiled it for you  but I didn't want everyone worrying about you when they should be thrilled for you instead.

Love to you...

Wow...how cool is this little bear...love his eyelids...very clever!!!

shantell

Leather noses look hard?  Not as in hard as plastic but hard to put on a bear and not make it look like a lump of  leather.  Any advice?  Not that I'm anywhere near ready to try a leather nose...just well....nosey

I LOVE YOUR BEARS...I want one...I want one NOW!!!

shantell

I know this...I know this...

My first question...is it the same person who has placed bids? (You can click on the bid history and see who has bid on your item).   If so then they only increased the amount they are willing to bid (proxy bidding) so the bids won't increase until someone else bids.  The bids only go up when someone else bids or when the reserve is met...lets say they meet the reserve amount with their high bid then it will immediately jump to that amount...if they bid over that amount it will only go up to that reserve amount until someone else bids.  Bids only go in increments set by the dollar amount you are currently at.  I can't remember the exact breakdown but as the dollar amount increases the increments increase.

Am I making any sense?

shantell

I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one who doesn't frey check everything.  I've only been doing the openings, awl holes and places that I might stress...such as the muzzle area and the toes of the foot pads (in case I get stuffing happy).

I thought perhaps there was a logical reason for doing the entire edge and I didn't know it.  I think I'll just keep doing as I am.

Thanks for the info.

shantell

I went to Joann's (my craft store...if that's what you want to call it  bear_sad ) and purchased every color of upholstery thread they had in any color I thought I might use...which meant I didn't buy green (which I love) and came home with only 6 spools ranging from cream to black.

I even asked them if they ever get any other colors...she looked at me like...why would you want more.  I guess I'll be order some others online if I need them.   Ahem...such is life!

shantell

I just last night received my order from Sassy...of course I have yet to use any of it but it seems to be nice quality...although I have to admit two of the pieces aren't not exactly what I had thought they would be...the color and print more than anything...so we shall see!!!

shantell

Oh Daphne, flattery will get you chocolate :)

But, I think I'll pass for this round  perhaps the next time I'll be up for the challenge.

shantell

I absolutely love geese...they remind me of my grandfather.  When he passed away...wow 21 years ago...we had his ashes spread at a local park that was known for its geese population.  Whenever I hear them fly over...I always get a bit teary-eyed.  I was a grandpa's girl!!!

shantell

I didn't even consider frey checking BEFORE cutting out...hmmm.  So...is it really necessary to do this around all the pieces or is this just something that you do because...

I'm seriously curious about this.  I'm really wanting to improve my bearmaking and sometimes it these little things that can make a difference in the long run.

As I sit here and pick fur out of my bears chin seam...I've already poked myself with the awl...ouch!!!

shantell

Congratulations Judi and Neysa!!!

However, there must be some kinda of cosmic conspiracy to get me to do needlefelting...as now there is a separate section on TT which I've been doing fairly well at avoiding the subject...

AND...

Nancy Tillberg, the little stinker...she's in on it I know it...made the last chapter of my class on Sculpting about....INTRO TO NEEDLEFELTING!!!

AUGH!!!

Shantell

This may be an already talked about item but I didn't find anything in the search...

Do you frey check your entire pieces cut edge after cutting it out...or

Do you frey check just the places that are stressed more like the openings left for turning and later sewing closed...or

The entire seam itself after sewing the pieces together...or

any combination of the above...or

something I might not have considered at all?

Thanks!!

Shantell...the all curious one!!!

There is something to be said for head chopping...

Nancy has some of the charity bears posted on her website www.northcountryteddybears.com ...if you click on the logo for the Teddies 4 Charity you will find them...then if you click on the Participating List you will get the entire list of participants and a photo of their bear which you also click on to enlarge.

I really wish I would have had the confidence to participate...one because I love to donate for this type of event and two because a dear friend's, 9 year old niece was diagnosed a year ago with a malignant tumor in her liver.  After 4 months of intense chemotherapy she had to have a liver transplant.  Which took place at Stanford last January right after New Years....after some normal complications she's doing great.

God Bless all of you who participated.  I'm sure every one of your bears will sell and the money will go to such a wonderful cause.

It's now Sunday evening...and I still don't know what I'm doing in the next 5 minutes...I've accomplished absolutely nothing this weekend...not one single thing.  Good intentions got me no where.

Oh...and I've had the same hairdresser for 18 years...I don't get a say anymore.  She says "so, what are WE doing this time"...and I say..."I don't know...what are YOU doing to me."  I love her...won't let anyone else touch my hair.  I did ONCE and then had to beg her to fix it later...she laughed at me...and did it for free.

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss...losing a  pet no matter what kind is so hard.

Bunny's are so cute...we use to take ours for walks on a leash around the hard.  She'd get all huffy if we didn't take her out of her pen and let her play with us.  Silly thing...

shantell

Oh....Edward is exquisite...elegant...I'm too pooped from doing nothing all weekend to think of any more "E" words.

Cute cute cute...

Ebay id for Emily Farmer:  emilyfarmer (how easy to remember).  She also puts her name in her heading so you can just search for her by her name also.

Have fun...can't wait to see what little creation you come up with.
