A new baby has been born in Bearyville.  He's a tiny little thing, only 1.5 inches (3.81 cm) tall.  He loves to be rocked in a rocking chair and to play with his little rocking horse.  It's nearly time to eat so he has his little bib on and is ready to snack away. His name is "Dimini" (pronounced Deh-MIN-knee) which means "itty bitty" in Bearese.

She's so cute!  I really like the fabric you used with the color peeking through and to have it do that at such a small size....well done !

What works for me is to chain 2, then put 5 sc in the first chain, chain 1, turn, sc across, turn, slip stitch across.  The slip stitches seem to add a 'cuff' onto the ear.

Aw cute as can be!!  Well done!!

The Thread Artist Guild defines micro as anything under 2 inches.

Thanks all for your feedback.  Yes she has a name...Her name is "Kalea" (pronounced Kuh-lee-uh) which means "little surprise" in Bearese.

Well I'm totally backwards from everyone else.  I'm a night person so this is a typical day for me.

Mid afternoon - wake up and drink some cola to get caffiene in my system.  Read/respond to emails, process any sales/orders, paperwork, etc.  This is my do the stuff you don't really wanna do time.

Dinner - grab a fast bite to eat and try to figure out what I want to work on

After dinner - play an online role playing game.  During game lulls and waiting times, work on crocheting bear parts, play game, make bear parts, play game, make bear parts...game over for the evening...

Late night/early morning (ie. 1-2am) - turn on a movie to watch while I make bear parts (oh did I say I actually FINISHED any of the bear parts earlier?  hahahahaha no way!).  Work and watch tv until I get something done or get tired.

Morning (i.e. 6amish) go to bed to get some sleep....wake up mid afternoon, rinse repeat.

One thing I do do however is work on certain things on certain days.  Mondays I put together the bear parts made during the week and try to get them to resemble a bear.  Tuesdays I take pictures and put together my ebay auctions.  Wednesdays I try to mail out any thing sold within the last couple of days and mail out my newsletter and auction posts.  Thursdays I start a new bear project and if I didn't get Tuesdays stuff done I do it on Thurs.  Fridays I do all the Weds stuff I didn't get done.  Saturday I work on bearparts while playing online game.  Sundays is my DAY OFF!

That's the general plan...in there somewhere I also work on websites, do whatever needs being done for the Thread Artist Guild, and please take note that I have 2 days to catch up on what I didn't get done, so that should tell you how much this plan works (yeah right!)....

Did I mention I was a night owl?

I took Berta's Little Bits bag design and made some adaptions to it to make it work with one of my little micro bears (1.75 inches tall standing) and well...here's the result:

Hi Berta,

Yes the friend is Jan, but with my 2nd one I used some different type thread that I had here along with the one she uses (see picture below).  The thread Jan uses is Cozy.  But the one I used below didn't have a label on it so I don't know what it's called.  So far I'm enjoying working with this thread alot :-)

This is a Panda version using Jan's thread for the 'white' parts and the one I had on hand for the rest.  I think she came out looking good :-)

This is Petra, the Parti-Color Panda, 4.5 inches tall

Here's the new little one I was working on.  Using similar type fuzzy yarns I created a little panda that is parti-colored.  Her name is Petra and she's only 4.5 inches tall standing.

Thank you all for your feedback and comments.  I really appreciate them.  I was very happy with how he came out and I've ideas for 2 more, one is already in the works.

A friend of mine gave me a challenge to make a miniature crochet teddy bear out of fuzzy threads so it would look similar to a traditional bear.  I took up the challenge and here is the result.  Ashton is crocheted, 5-way thread jointed and only 4.25 inches tall standing.

I think he came out pretty good, but I would love to hear feedback on him, good or bad, because I'm always looking for ways to improve.

Hi Dilu,

The link to this place was in a post on one of the other message boards that I'm on...that's how I found you all...that good ol' word of mouth thing.

With Easter coming up I've done a few bunnies instead of bears recently so I'll post a picture of one of my bunnies and one of my bears for you.

These are both about 2.25 inches tall when standing.

Hello Everyone,

I'm just finding out about Teddy-Talk and this is my very first post here.  I have been reading through this discussion thread and thought you all might not be aware of the Thread Artist Guild.  The Thread Artist Guild was formed a year ago and is for artists who make miniatures ( 6 inches and under ) out of threads and fibers.

We have a website that has several pictures of various artists creations that I thought you might enjoy.   You can find the Guild website at http://www.ThreadArtistGuild.org

Also, members of the Thread Artist Guild were recently given a challenge to create a piece of artwork to go with the theme of "Fairytale Character". Our Award Panel (Marianne Alexander, Berta Hesen-Minten, Debi McCarthy-Beckett, Bobbie Ripperger, and Nadine Murat-Thevenot) were shown anonymous pictures and asked to award points to each picture.  Then the points were tallied to determine the winner.

A big thank you goes out to our Award Panelists for sharing with us their knowledge, expertise and time to review the entries.

Please keep in mind that all of the entries are less than 6 inches tall !

It is with great pleasure that I am able to announce:
Winner of the First Thread Artist Guild Annual Award Challenge!

Gayle Brindley for her entry titled "The Marriage of King Arthur"

Honarable Mention goes to:

Jan Nethercutt for her entry titled "East o' the Sun - West o' the Moon - An old Norwegian fairytale"

Heather Hamilton for her entry titled ""Aladdin" Bear...accompanied by his magic carpet and Genie Bear!"

And a Special Recognition Certificate goes to
Lita Ashley for her entry titled "The Little Mermaid"

We have terrific entries and our Award Panel all said the entries were so good they had a very difficult time in awarding their points!

Thank you to all the members who entered...you are all truly fantastic artists!

To see the entries visit the Thread Artist Guild Website at http://www.ThreadArtistGuild.org and click on "Award" in the menu at the top or click on the Winner's Picture on the main page.  There are lots of pictures to look at so please allow plenty of time for them to load.

If I can help answer any questions about this artform or the guild, please ask!!
