I just added my little 10 inch clown to the gallery. His name is Boingo! enjoy
Michele,
Be VERY careful. I understand that there are scammers using the telephone to gain info about you. I just read an article in our paper and it mentioned that it has happened to ebay customers, etc. Seems people are catching on the the scammer emails with the fake websites to enter any information. So they figure by using the phone, when they say they are "ebay" you will believe them and give the information. Email ebay's security deparetment and report this. They will tell you if it was them. I can pretty much tell you that it wasn't . Ebay wouldn't ever have to ask you for your info. They already have it.

I agree with Helen, but I have a suggestion. Maybe just ADD to your name.. Like Bainbridge Bears and Friends or Bainbridge Bears and pets... etc
Mary, She is Lisa Lu by Himstedt, 34 inches tall. from the 2006 Atlantis series. I missed seeing you too. I would love to see the doll you made.
Sonya
the doll I got in San Diego at the show. I am NOT a doll collector, but once in a while I will see one I just have to have. Lisa Lu was one of those dolls. Of course the really GREAT (unbelievably great) price I got her for helped.
I know it IS possible to arrange with some of the cruise ships to do something like that.
Hi Mary
You can and SHOULD place your bears on different sites to sell. You just want to be careful not to place it on two AUCTION sites at the same time because potentially 2 people could win the same bear. But on here or BOA or Bearpile etc., they must contact you first to see if it is available.I place mine on here, Bearpile, and ebay all at the same time. If someone contacts me about it from Bearpile, then I tell them that it is listed on erbay and if there is no winner, then they can purchase the bear.
I have been known to be called the "Tiling Queen" as of late. So far I have done one of the upstairs bathrooms, the downstairs bathroom and am getting ready to start on the kitchen floor, then on to the enryway. It is looking great (and thank you to the guy at Home Depot who said to do the bathrooms first... it is good practice)

I also have emailed her and don't get a response. I am SO worried! I am not sure what to do. It isn't like Jodi not to answer.

I just did a search online and found this article...http://thestarpress.com/apps/pbcs.dll/a … 20ELECTION It is dated Aug 15th. I guess that means she is ok?
I am still worried.
So far, I'm pretty impressed. I've been on there three days and sold two items. One to an actual bear collector and one to a person who is not. So I kind of feel like even if I didn't sell anything, I'm introducing new collectors to artist bears. Just my thoughts though...

I agree. I couldn't survive without artificial sinew. I use it for the eyes, for gathering the neck and for sewing my seams closed. Here is a link to a tutorial for inserting locline. I add a few steps when wrapping it with the batting, but that is just something I picked up on my own that seems to work good.

There are a lot of tutorials right here that can really help a new bearmaker.

Laura,
When I use the loc line, I do it just like Donna said (actually, I use a soldering iron to melt the hole in the locline), then I use regular quilt batting. Cut it to the same length as the leg, and wrap it a few times arounf the locline. Then I use the artificial sinew to wrap aound the outside of the batting to hold it on the loc line. Stuff the foot as usual, then put the locline with the batting wrapped around it, into the leg, then joint as usual. You may need to add a little stuffing in some spots, but you want to keep it loose enough to bend. Be sure and stuff near the joint like you normally would. If it is a small dog, I would use wire instead. The loc line works better with bigger bears/dogs, etc.

I pack mine in the checked bags and haVen't had a problem. I always tell them what to expect before they go and get x-rayed. More than once my bag has been chosen for hand inspection, which I find out about when I open the bag again (they place a note inside)
I have carried a last minute bear in my carry one before, but the x-ray machine operator scanned and rescanned several times. I tried explaining what the bolts and locknuts were and I use glass beads. But I swear when they called over a superviser and started picking at the back seam I just about came unglued. Not only that, but they had also already read the hangtag that verifies what was inside. Finally, they rescanned it once again, then let me have it. Also when I went to Schaumburg, I shipped my bears to the hotel and it worked perfectly, but it was very costly for me because my bears are pretty big.

I hear you Aleta LOUD and CLEAR! Stupid me to think since I retired I could spend more time making bears. Somehow I cannot get it across to people that I DO still have a job! Everyday, it is "can you run me here?" etc etc.

One thing that helps you out when doing online transactions is SSL. If the web address you are doing the transaction at begins with httpS then it is encrypted and should be safe. So when ever you are logging into paypal no matter what computer you are on, it is encrypted and cannot be read by the computer. IF you are on a public computet though, I would always empty the cache and delete the history before you sign off.
Richy, I have tons too! Let me look as well and I will also get back to you. If you pay for shipping, they are yours for free!

Wonderful article and creation Lisa! I Love her name, "Stella Glitzgerald, the Queen of Bling who really can sing"
I use a bench press drill that we got at a garage sale. I bought a kit at Home Depot that has different sized hole cutters, but it isn't that easy to use. So I finally antied up enough to but hole cutters in the sizes I need. The hole saws (cutters) also have a place to put a regular drill bit in the center so that hole is cut at the same time as your disc. I buy the laminated board in Home Depot as well and can cut as many as I need at the time, or enough to fill up my disc bins all at once

Hey Jenn, YES we are keeping them both and guess what?!? We will have them in San Diego with us!

LOL that reminds me of when we put boots on Sunshine. We just put them on her back feet at first and she tried to walk on her two front feet. lol So we put all 4 on her and she was halarious! Every step she lifted her feet so high in the air. We were laughing so hard (sorry Sunshine) LOL

This morning we had a little photo shoot. Heck, I won't even tell you, I will just let you look for yourself. ENJOY
It took some getting used to but I absolutely love the name my daughter Lindsay named her little girl. Her name is Caidence.
