Kerrilyn..who also voted!!
so do you want people to see if they can identify the maker? Definately put a photo up and we can see what we are looking for
Kerrilyn

Kerrilyn

I was always taught to ask for a discount for cash since i was very young..I recall years ago i went to the Sydney bear show and asked a maker if there was a discount for cash ( this would have been the second bear I bought from her)..i can accept a no..but this lady almost went beserk..she really made me feel so small and rude for even thinking of asking..I did buy the bear as i loved it..and i still love him, but he is a tainted bear..its been over 10 years and i still recall how bad she made me feel..she could have been nice and just said no sorry, but i got ranted and lectured to..sadly i never bought another one of her bears even though i love them...I believe people have a right to ask..and a right to be declined in a civil manner. I know of people who will add $5 to $10 to the price they want so they can then discount happily...maybe thats the way to go! (and no..it wasn't Linda..though i did see some of her wonderful bears at that show!!)

Here is the bears Amanda and I swapped..mine is on the left in yellow and Amandas in blue on the right..they are both adorable mini's. Both around 3 inches (can't find my ruler..i know I have one)

Don't worry about it Denise. Ebay has sooo many rules, most of us don't know half of them. I took a peek, what a cutie!! Im sure she will sell again!

one of the fires was about 10kms from me..some of our friends evacuated, but thankfully their house was saved.
i rang the red cross to donate blood and was told they were inundated at the moment, but they would call in a few weeks when supplies ran low again, businesses everywhere are donating profits (coles supermarkets is donating all profit from all stores on fri 13th!!!) football and cricket games are donating the money from games. Last time i loooked at the news there was 750 homes gone and almost 200 dead. there is going to be plenty of money to rebuild everything..it won't help those who died sadly, but it should help their families. Such a sad time.
that is cute!! How are things your way Denise?? We have fires close by
wow..looks soo pretty!! I wish we had some..we got to 47C today the hottest day ever on record..and it was super windy..so there is 5 out of control large fires and loads and loads of small ones in my state..people 10 mins drive from me have been evacuated, over 100 homes lost, 14 lives snuffed out, one fire truck burnt out, only one terrestrial tv station is on the air, only am radio stations on air..power keeps flickering, roads closed, ash and smoke everywhere, it got dark at 6.30pm (usually 9.30 at the mo)..its a bit spooky..we feel safe as we are in town..but who knows..its been trying to rain, but its just wet soot
Kerrilyn
i rarely ever watch the news and rarely read a paper..i figure if theres somehting important to know i'll hear about it..i think im probably happier living in ignorance...and theres got to be some of us out there to go on those special juries when the cases are all over the news
Kerrilyn
lol..i saw that when i got home from work last night at 1.30am!! it was cool!
Kerrilyn
gosh..id never heard of this scam..you just have to be so careful these days..thanks everyone!!
Kerrilyn
wendy..that orange is stunning..its definately the nose/muzzle letting the bear down..you could trim the inside ear fur to make them more defined...im not sure what to suggest on the muzzle..needlefelting does sound good..have fun experimenting
Kerrilyn
My first thought was that they need eyebrows..and perhaps the eyes need to be sunk a bit more..they look like theyre sitting on top rather than in..if that makes sense!. Looking forward to seeing the after photos!!
Kerrilyn
whoops..didn't see there was 2 pages..this comment was for daphnes bears..i'll check page two out and comment on the orange one in a separate post
100% and 62%..so i got them all..but put them in the wrong groups...at least i have half a brain i guess!! Thanks
Kerrilyn
is it...damn..i thought it was still months away

years ago when I first started bear making, I bought some shot..then a few years later people kept going on about not using lead shot, but to use steel shot..i have absolutely no idea if the shot i have is lead or steel. I haven't used the stuff for years and years for fear of poisoning someone inadvertantly..does anyone know how to tell the difference?? Besides licking and seeing if one goes mad?? ..if it is lead..how do i dispose of it??
Thanks
Kerrilyn
That is nuts..sellers are being held to randsome by buyers..arghh. Can you list on a different ebay? Like ebay.com.au. or uk..japan...etc..I know the aussie one doesn't yet have the number ratings..might be worth a try!!
Kerrilyn
that made me cry....thanks for sharing..its lovely
Kerrilyn
hmm..interesting...i'll try to get something together to enter...can the gallery item be at any time during the year or all in a certain edition?? I ask because i don't have much bear stock sitting here at the mo and im away most of dec/jan..so not much time to make new bears if they need to be in an early edition of the magazine..thanks for letting us know!!
Kerrilyn
thanks for sharing!!! I also have hundreds of large disks my 3 inch bears will never use...though when i saw the heading of this thread i had a thought to somehow use them as platforms for little scenes..so theres 2 ideas!!! I will definately be making some!!
Kerrilyn
it is possibly because people see it written in just about every bear book..they all go on about how mohair is the best fabric and better than the stretchy faux fur..however they do not usually take into account the woven back faux..sometimes you do see it mentioned..but its rare..so people associate faux fur with inferior quality..it is a shame..and you would think judges would be able to tell the difference between top quality woven back and stretchy cheaper stuff..some faux is just as expensive as mohair
Kerrilyn
ooohh..this could be fun..is there going to be a theme at all?? or just whatever you want? ive done some fantastic swaps on another group..and some .....not so good ones..so yes..its a good idea to have categories
