Whatever you do in life there are always people that disagree with what you do or you should do it this way or that way but I have always done what I want no matter what people say.You only live once and if you don't spend your life doing what you want to whenever possible what is the point of being here.
I had a job with Royal Mail that paid good money but with all my children it got too much trying to fit everything in so I try to make some sort of living with my bears.I have only been making them for 2 years so am still trying to build up a customer base but I am happy with what I do and I am my own boss-good for me as I never like being told what to do
The people that say what your doing is a waste of time etc have no appreciation of anything arty and the amount of time you can put into it.It is partly because of ignorance and sometimes because all these so called friends etc are either jealous or envious of what you do and wish they could do it so they try to belittle you in the process.
I spoke to the man in the tax office the other day about a 1 day course in how to start out on your own and he laughed when I told him what I done and then went on to say that they got allsorts of people doing these course as I think he realised he shouldn't have just laughed like that.I would just put his attitude down to ignorance and he obviously has no appreciation of artist bears or probably any form of art.
You should never waste your time worrying about what people think of you and just enjoy your life and be grateful that you have been blessed to make bears and that you can make peoples lives happy when you sell them. That is all that matters.
Laurie
Congratulations to you all. They are all great entries

It looks a lovely place to visit Paula-I have it on my list of places to visit. We usually go up north to North Yorkshire for our holidays but being in Norfolk we always seem miles from anywhere and the routes out of Norfolk are so slow.
Laurie
I love to collect other artists bears and even if you love your own bears it doesn't stop you loving and enjoying other artists work.I usually tell my husband that it inspires me to look at other artists work or if necessary I just have to sulk and say I never have anything that I like-that usually works
Laurie
I can't really help you with the air filtration systems Jenny but I have found that when I cut out mohair some of the furs seem worse than others and they really make my nose itch and make me sneeze.I should really get around to wearing a mask Maybe you should see whether some fabrics are worse than others and at least try to put the mask on when you are cutting out the worst offenders.I never used to have allergys and food intolerances but that comes with age I expect
I hope that you can find something suitable
Laurie
Thankyou for posting Margaret.Tell Jane that I hope she feels better soon and I hope she quickly sorts out her computer as we miss her

I like traditional names myself but I think it will help to have a name like Sage that is easy to say and spell.I find it so annoying with my name when people have never been able to spell it or read it out properly.I also had a hard to pronounce surname and when I was at school there was always a long pause when the teacher got to my name until they could hopefully read it out properly without getting it wrong-and most of the time they did get it wrong
You might decide once you see your daughter what to name her as sometimes a name doesn't seem to suit even though you had set your heart on it.My daughters name was already chosen before I had her yet with one of my sons names hubby and I still couldn't agree on his middle name when it was time to register him and he ended up with 2 middle names
Laurie
That is a great photo Marlys.Julie does a fantastic job with her photography and I just love Petey-he is such a sweetie

If your bears are anything to go by your art students will all be top of the class with your teaching
Laurie
What a little cutie Clare.
You will have to hide all your bears and bear making materials now -these little puppies like to chew and eat things that they shouldn't do.I still have to keep my things away from my 3 year old Balinese cats as they can't be trusted. If a leg disappears when making my bears because I have been distracted for a moment I usually know where to look.
Laurie
I have found the same problems Shelli with these cheap eyes as the dome doesn't match like you said and you find little mishapen indentations or lines in the eyes and even if they are small they drive me mad as if I make a bear I hate seeing these little differences in the eyes even if they are small as I know they are there and if you are always aiming for a perfect bear everything has to be of good quality so you don't compromise in any way.I hope these eyes are ok for you Sarah Jane-they have a long way to come.
Laurie
I have never tried the eyes on wires Sarah Jane but when I first started making bears I found it so annoying using the cheaper eyes as the sizes and shapes would never match so now I always buy the english superior glass eyes and they are always ok-they are probably the same type as Shelli mentions. It is not worth saving a few pence on something like eyes if they aren't well made as you end up not really saving any money as half of them will end up in the bin.
Laurie
Please take a look at my new website that Penny has done for me.I wanted a site that was done quite simply with a few nice graphics and Penny has done a wonderful job.
She gave us instructions on how to change things myself and hubby is slowly getting there as we are not too computer literate
I hope that you like it

Blossom is a very pretty girl Debbie and yes she is thoroughly spoilt with her flysheet.Although this time of the year can be the most miserable for horses as they hate the flys and those flysheets can make it more bearable outside for them.Mind you all my ponies need at the moment is an umbrella.
Laurie
Thats a great picture Tami-the kids loved it
