My word, Krista!!  He is completely darling, so adorable!  I echo everyone's sentiments when I say love love LOVE the wrinkles!!!  Perfect!  Absolute AMAZING artistry!

..I would say keep him for yourself.  One should always keep the prototypes, or first of series, simply because we do love them so..I have a little anime-style girl bear I made with longgggg eyelashes and I just adore her, she's a bundle of new techniques I tried out all at once..I can't bear to part with her, so she stays with me.

Wendy---in regards to the angelina fiber---was that all your wing was made of?  A wire frame and the angeline fiber?  Because if so, you can basically iron the angelina fibers OVER the frame, if I'm making any sense.  Sandwiching 'em wouldn't've worked verily well because if you don't get 'em heated together in the center, they will slide off one another and shift, so it's best to work with one layer.

My suggestion would be to lay the angelina fibers down surrounding the wing and overlapping it.  Then, on the very outside edge of the wire, put your iron to that and meld the fibers together, making certain you do it thoroughly and leaving kind of a fluff of unmelted fibers atop the melted strip.

Next, take the melted strip and FOLD it over the top of the wire, and take the unmelted fluff and anchor it to the other Angelina fibers on the rest of the wing.  Then you can iron the entire wing for good measure.

Basically what you are doing is forming the pattern around the wire frame, and when you melt it together it won't slip because it's tight over the frame, virtually impossible to move.  If you work with TWO layers, instead of folding a layer into itself, it won't melt together evenly.

Hope that helps!

..has anyone used silk thread for noses on minis?  I was just looking at the sheen of the thread and thinking how handy it would be not to have to wax the minis' noses [I'm a terrible waxer, that's why I usually do clay noses].  Any suggestions or comments would be very welcome---I've never used silk thread so I don't know how strong it is.  Thought jewelers used it for stringing pearls so as not to damage 'em, not entirely certain though.

Thanks!

Amelia

hihihihihi...am back!  For now.  =P

My kid just got into the grandparents' daily vitamin/prescription pill holder---my husband is on the phone with Poison Control right now!  w00t!  The child had climbed into his high chair at Grandma's house and found the pill container..we're missing one pill, it's the grandparents dexadrin [for ADD], but so far Poison Control seems more worried about the possible vitamin pill contamination---he licked a few of the vitamin pills.

Awww..the kitten is so cute!  That is adorable!!  And looks super fast too!  I will have to cannibalize some cards to try that out on---but for now must go shopping with the husband!

Toodles to you all, will catch up with the pages later tonight!

..anyone a sci-fi fan of Eureka?

Hi, Wendi---love your little Toggle Teddies, don't think I've met you before!

Amelia

Oh, dear, Gemma...I hope he can get some healing quickly, it's always sad when the little buggers aren't feeling well---they seem to feel it less than we do, 'cause they just bulldoze right through it, eating and playing as hard, and then sleeping lots.  Sending get-well-soon thoughts his way.

G'night, Jane!!  *waving*

Ohhhh, I remember now about PenPen's ahhh...yearning for George.  That's right.. wouldn't want to fight her to get to George!   *crossing eyes*

Amelia

Viggo Mortensen or something like that---that man can WALK.  I watched LOTR a couple of times just to watch him walk around that campfire...gorgeous man.  Okay, someone can take George, I'll keep an eye on Viggo.

*LOL*

Amelia

fribblesltd

..WAIT.  When did George get taken??  By whom?  I thought he was still single!!!  Wahhhhh!!!   bear_cry

Jane, I copied down the recipes, I will give 'em a go tomorrow night---otherwise am finishing up packing tonight for the trip!

As for bathroom cleaning, UGH!  We have FIVE cats at our house currently---and I'm blaming my husband.  He gets to clean the boxes.  Two cats are ours, there's a pair of rescued kittens [feral mother, a co-worker found 'em] and then one we trapped in our garage---she's a people cat, and we think someone dropped her off down our lonely gravel road.  Anyways!

Amelia

Let's see---my baby started talking this year [he's 19 months] and he JUST the other day identified the B-O on the Bowflex machine...that is used as a spare clothes hanger...ish.  Must make resolution to use it more for exercise in 2007 than clothes hanging!

I got back into the workforce this year---not something I would normally describe as a positive, but, because of financial reasons, it is better this way---so running a law office [like my mother did in her younger days] has been a lot of learning and fun!

As for music---and dancing---I would say it would have to be a funny man 'cause I don't dance well for those who take it too seriously!  More like the funky-chicken-robot-hip-hop-swing-bump'ngrind sorta thing I got going on!

Chrissi, all this talk of Jack Black---have you seen his new movie yet?

And, Jane, I changed my avatar photo.  You may have to cycle your cookies to see it.

Amelia

fribblesltd

*LOL*  Jane, I like that photo!  Those were my absolute favorite pairs of sunglasses in the world, and I think someone sat on 'em...  *sigh*

I will hunt about for another photo..

..and cocoa puffs ARE food!  Manna from heaven, that's the only way to explain their culinary excellence!!

Amelia

Okay, so our family is off on Saturday to Seattle, Washington [you know, where all the power outages are?] for Christmas Eve, and then up to Anacortes Christmas Day---I am thinking of getting some cookie baskets together for the various family members.  Anyone have any absolutely scrumptious recipes for fast, easy cookies that look like a million dollars when done up in a little cellophane and Christmas pretties?

I have some new Christmas rubber stamps and was thinking of making sugar cookies with a stamped impression in the top, then dusting with colored powder to make 'em stand out..

Amelia

fribblesltd

..oooh, this is the first time I've seen Aleta's new avatar!  Hardly recognized you---gorgeous bear!

Amelia

fribblesltd

Ack...I was thinking it started five pm MY time---I'm daft!!  Happy Holidays and all the very BEARY BEST in 2007 to every person here!  =)

Amelia

Jared, was it allan/allen blessing?  That person ended mine too a few days ago.  eBay refunded everything.

My sympathies.

Amelia

---I just noticed that it doesn't work on uploading new avatars and personal photos.. will be waiting for SuperQuy to fly to the rescue!

Amelia

I recently received some mohair from Jane Perala, and I'm curious to learn if there is any prescribed system of using the length of pile to determine size of a bear.  I know I have different piles of upholstery fabric, and some look better than others on a 3 inch bear, two inch bear, five inch bear, etc.

Are there any tidbits of advise to be had on this subject?

Thank you for your time!

Regards,

Amelia

fribblesltd

...that would be so much fun!  Think of it, perhaps next year's Lemonade Stand bears could be collaborations?

Aleta, that collaboration is sheer heaven---absolutely BEAUTIFUL pair, just gorgeous!

Amelia

...definitely belongs in the Paint-By-Number category.  Why make the bar lower?  so that there's nothing to strive for, everyone's talent is exactly the same as everyone else's.

Reminds me too much of Ayn Rand.  Sheesh, what is the world coming to?!!

Amelia

fribblesltd

...he used the Buy-It-Now option, the right wicked nasty bit of goods, so I can't withdraw his bid.  I don't think I can relist the bear until this transaction is on eBay's books as a non-paying bidder, and that could take a week.  So very frustrating and disappointing.

Oh, Kimberly, BIG HUGE CONGRATULATIONS!!!  Hope the nausea ends soon---supposedly gingersnaps are good to take first thing in the morning.

Amelia

Oh, Kerren!  HSo much to go through when they are so new!  Hope they both heal up fast!  *sending big e-hugs & prayers*

I was bouncing off the walls this morning because my bear sold for $200---but---

Some of the fairy people have talked about this scam, so I logged on to eBay Live Help, and apparently the only thing I can do is go through the transaction in good faith [taking up valuable time], and then when it falls through apply for my selling fees to be refunded, but apparently I still have to pay listing fees?

This is so disappointing.  eBay makes money, I lose time AND money, and the scammer just goes on to scamming another person?

..am off to block zero feedback bidders.  What a jerk to do this especially around the holidays.
