Sheared muskrat was marketed as "Hudson Seal" from the 1940's on, from what I've read.  It's powdery-soft and wonderful for bears!!!  I have a coat made from it that I keep putting off turning into a bear because it's so cuddly to wear - even if it is a bit old-fashioned in cut.

Now you've inspired me.  I signed up for the next Boot Camp!

What a great group to add to your hug!  Well done!

I am particularly fond of James, as well.  Such character and wisdom....

William's truly wonderfu, Richard!  I love his expression and (of course) his size.  The color's just right for him, too.

I take it apart and re-do it.  I've replaced joints that were too small, tightened limbs and replaced paw pads.

A resounding "Ditto" for using Nancy Tillburg's books!  She is working to make them available on CD but they're not out yet.

Here's an image of a 24" fellow made from raccoon - another tough hide to work with, but the result is worth the sore fingers.

Paula -

My last two have been 24" bears, so I know the wonderful feeling of hugging a really big one!  Your latest fella is a gorgeous ray of sunshine!

RB-Portrait-with-PR.jpgRaccoon-Bear-Right-Side.jpgJust put this guy together and I'm really pleased!  He's made from a fluffy recycled raccoon jacket.  His name has not yet been made clear to me, so for now he's R. B.  He's 24" tall and very stout with steel shot and plastic pellets to give him further substance.  Like Big Daddy, he's a good listener.  But he's a more an active listener than a consoling one.  I get the feeling that he's genuinely interested in my doings and would like to participate!

Raccoon skins are tough and I went through several needles and have thimble blisters.  I think the end result is worth it, though.

Big-Daddy-Looking-Left.jpgI never posted the last bear I made for the Extreme Sculpting class, but I had my photo stuff set up this afternoon, so here he is:  Big Daddy.

He's made from a recycled beaver coat and is sooooooooooo soft!  He's 24" of huggable fur.  He reminds me of a wise old grandpa - always ready to listen to my latest tale of woe.

So sweet, Katy!  I love her big feet and her nose.  The expression's precious, too.  I'm sure her new mum will adore her.
