Hi All,
I belong to several. I have to admit thought that I don't post  on all and I don't read everything. I skim over & look for topics that interest me and look at those. Not enough time in the day & I would never make a bear if  I spent all of my time on the computer.

PS I do have a soft place in my heart for Edinburgh because Elke & Ron have always been so good to me.

Hi All,
I have also heated beeswax in a kistka (sp). It is the tool that is used for making Ukranian Easter eggs.  It is very good for getting small amounts of wax on the noses.

Deb,
I will keep Derek (and you) in my prayers as I am sure all of our members will. Thank him from us for serving and let him know we are sending him teddy bear hugs until he is able to come home safe and sound.

You didn't say if you are using digital or not.

Try looking up the manual on the manufacturer's websit. I found mine there.

Hi Sandi,
Cute Bears & I love your helper! I am by no means an expert on photography, but I'll give you some input. Let me start with some of the things you are doing right. Your bears are well posed.  They are looking at the camera or the person viewing the picture.  They make me think I would like to pick up that bear & get to know him better.

I work with an improvised light tend on my dining room table too. I do not use a tripod. The biggest suggestion I have is to get that flash not to work.  The flash produces a "flatter" looking picture, so find that manual.  Also when you do look for the part that tells you how to play with the white balance. Try different shots while changing the white balance & experiment.

If you are using a digital camera use the programming (or buy some) to help you manipulate your pictures.

You are on the right track so keep experimenting.

R.Fur.jpgHi All,
I do lots of dyeing and really enjoy some of the wild effects I get with it.  I usually dye after the critter is sewn, but before it is stuffed.  I ususally use Rit, dipping a wet  critter to get a blending of colors.

This is R. Fur as an example.  I wil gladly email instructions I use for dying to anyone who emails me privately. Unfortuately I don't have time to type the instructions in the forum.

Hi,
That certainly is a cutie. I want to share the name my step-son always said he wanted to use if his mom would let him have a dog.  It was D.O.G. to be pronounced Dee-OH-Gee with the accent on on the OH.  Always sounded kind of Italian to me.

PS As it was they got a dog and named it Pete.

I LOVE CURVED NEEDLES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  It took a while to get accustomed to sewing with them but for certain jobs like ladder stitching or applique type things they are all I will use.
All I can say is practice, practice pactice!

Business-Card.jpgHi All,
I always carry my cards and my photo album EVERYWHERE. The album is a small "Brag Book" type.  My husband always carries cards with him too.  He will hand out 1-2 a month.
I also designed my card to be folded in half to use as my hang tag.  I add a paper inside with the name & details of the bear.

It is possible to do a weigh in without posting your weight.  You can just say minus 1, total 15  or up 1 total 14 etc. You konw your strat point but no one else does.

There are a couple of Christmas ornaments hanging on the peg. One is a pipe cleaner Santa that I made & one is  a Chinese man that I picked up when I was in Hong Kong.  I keep forgetting to put them on my tree & then pack them away for the year. I kinda like them there.

I will have to check to see if I can get colorfast ones next time. I don't believe mine were.

Hi Shelli,
I'll give it a try when AI get home form work.
Thanks,
Amy

Mutz

Hi All,
Shelli, I was just about to pipe in on this subject.  I use old colored file folders from work and punch holes in them. I use the old style wire shower curtain hangers to hang pattern. I have recently added a tag on each one so I can keep track of the mohair used color & date. . I will upload a picture, but I have toread the instructions on how to first.

Hi All,
I ave use fabric paper labels & was disappointed with them.  I have an inkjet printer & the labels would smear .   Heaven forbid they should accidently get wet. Then there would be nothing left on them. I tried a quick spray of selaer on them but that would smear the printing too.
