Wow, sounds pretty good! Would i be eligible, bearing in mind the somewhat... dilute presence of bears in my creations? bear_original

Gantaeno

WeePlopMcScott2.jpgYes, i know it's random... Sorry, i give you all a bad name XD

This is Wee Scott McPlop (or possibly Wee Plop McScott: can't decide which I prefer) and he's the first in what I hope will be a long line of something a little different: baby birds bear_original  I want some kind of creation I can sell cheaper than my Sloths on my website, when it's been neatened up a bit...  Anyhoo, as I was saying, Plop is the result of many lectures spent doodling whilst my lecturers witter on about cell membranes or something bear_tongue (Don't worry, I do listen too!)  I discovered that Owl Behbehs are very easy to draw on someone else's handouts whilst they're not looking (yes, I am a nightmare to sit next to, but they retaliate by writing rude words so we're even bear_happy )

I hope you like him: please tell me what you think.  I might auction him off (with some fetching Scottish accessories) to give me an idea of price first, but we'll see how it goes!

Gantaeno

Thanks Kelly, Paula and Jenny bear_original  I've done as you recommended, and just send a friendly e-mail asking them to confirm that they still want Liebe: they have 100% positive feedback so hopefully I shouldn't have to worry too much!  What's weird is that their bid came in at the last second, so I know they were online in person then...  bear_wacko

I'll let you all know when/if it comes through, and I'll definitely ask for payment or contact within three days next time!

Gantaeno

Hello all bear_laugh  I auctioned my first ever big Sloth, Liebe, on Ebay last week: you can see his auction here:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? … :IT&ih=014

I was really ecstatic with his final bid (hysterical, more like!) but I've not had any contact with the buyer despite sending an invoice... when should I start to worry?  I'm a bit concerned that, if I do have to auction him again, he won't do as well because he was originally designed for Valentines day which is only a week away!

Any opinions?

Gantaeno

yummy yummy pancakes!

Yep, I'll be getting together with the rest of my Doppelhaus-ers (lol, my student next-door neighbours XD) for a pancake FEST!  Trouble is, I don't know if any of us can flip XD

We always have lemon and sugar bear_original  Sprinkle on both, then roll up and cut into chunks bear_original Yum!

Gantaeno

I bought a Mr Site package, which gives you your own .com and a tutorial type web page set up guide thingy bear_tongue  It's £30 to buy it, then free for a year, then about £2.50 a month to maintain bear_original

Gantaeno

Hello all, I'm sorry to say I've just forced myself to read all your scary writings:  I hate the word 'tax', but I need some help!

I just sold my first Sloth as a profit to myself, so I guess now I need to start tninknig about this a bit more... only thing is, I don't know if I'm now recording for the next year or for this one, and I don't know if my being a student in ful time education counts for anything, and I don't ever expect my earnings to go over £5000, so!

Can anyone help me?  Sorry to be such a pain!

Gantaeno

Yep, I'd love to be able to make bears like the Wee Scones etc, but sadly I have no skill for that: just for weird creations with slightly perverse faces XD  Having said that I only have one artist bear which I bought at the age of 15 in Lincoln, and he's a fairly contemporary panda with big chunky limbs and body and a smallish head and a BIG nose: that's what I love about him the best! bear_laugh

Gantaeno

http://www.loubear.com/?Task=system&Cat … xt=Colours

On Loubear they have a pink tipped mohair (Scroll down to the bottom) BUT i DON'T KNOW IF IT'S LONG ENOUGH FOR YOU... FINGERS CROSSED!)

(bloody capslock XD) It's 18mm in length and relatively sparse...

Gantaeno

Oooh, I love Etsy! I have a shop on there, but I don't sell really, I prefer to buy!

As far as I know, it's the same as an Ebay shop but you have to have hand made the item, or it must be vintage.  You can list for a set price and put up to six image on there for the same price (i think): it's pretty cool bear_original

Gantaeno

Wow Jennie, your website is AMAZING!  I wish i had your skills, lol bear_tongue  I just set up my first webbie and I thought I'd done well XD In comparison with yours though... lol! I have a lot to learn :D

Well done you!

Gantaeno

Thanks everyone!

Yeah, I'm annoyed about the yellow XD I had a colour scheme and everything but the site makes it hard to keep consistent, so I'm going to look for an easier scheme to maintain bear_original  I used that site that was in the graphics challenge a while ago? It's really good for making choices for you!

Gantaeno

Well done everyone!  And look, a sloth made it into the friend shortlist... I'm almost glad i didn't enter Poke now!  bear_tongue

Gantaeno

Hey everyone bear_laugh  I've just semi-finished working on my website, if anyone would like to comment on it for me bear_laugh

http://www.je-suis-lugly.com/

I want to add a few extra things like a links page, but can anyone see any gaping holes?  I can add plenty of things (it's thought mr. site) so please make any suggestions! bear_original  I'm going to be adding a new Sloth soon, so hopefully people will get to see my site that way too bear_original

Thanks!

Gantaeno

bear_laugh Cat, I fully understand your lack of concentration on TT right now XD  Good luck with that belleh!

Thanks Wendy, your comment means a lot bear_original  Onwards and upards etc!

Gantaeno

I only remembered a few days ago, and there's no chance of it arriving in time for the UK!  bear_rolleyes  whoops, ah well... fingers crossed for an online entry form next year?

Gantaeno

bear_laugh Thanks a lot! I'm ordering my new camera now (a Samsung l77 bear_happy ) So hopefully the bear_wacko re'll be a few decent shots within the week :)

Lisa, how can you say I have a nack with your avatar photo?!? bear_tongue I love his toesies!
And thanks Ellen, I know you have more than your fair share of worries at the moment... and still you are now responsible for my bears too bear_laugh (so i can blame you when they fail, mwahaha!)

Gantaeno

bear_laugh Thanks Bea!  I hope he will sell and make me a little University funding XD

Gantaeno

Yeah Debbie, having it recovered was another idea: luckily it's only the top layer of material which is stained, so if I could find a close enough match perhaps somethnig could be done to switch it?  The dress is weird, it's like... gold underneath with a transparent butter-yellow top layer  bear_rolleyes  bear_wub I love it bear_laugh

Gantaeno

Awww, thanks Marilyn bear_original  I wish I could make traditional bears like yours, but mine always come out looking a bit too... weird to be genuine! bear_original

Thanks for the congrats on the award Kirstie, I was just on your Jack Sparrow post: he's lovely! I daren't show my Jack obsessed sister!  Yes the paws are needlefelted too, they almost took too long XD  I'm not sure what colour to use for my panda, but I hope he'll look as good bear_original

My only worry with this guy is that he's a bit... Pooh shaped for me  bear_wacko

OOOO  Chloe!  WOW, are you ever a stunner in that dress... I can see why it's so magical to you!   bear_flower   No good suggestions here, I'm afraid... just hoping that you do manage to get it out!     bear_wub

Kim Basta

Lol, thanks Kim, I know what you mean!  I have to say I think it's the oh-so impressive hair that does it... it was an amazing Ball bear_laugh  Thanks for the compliment, it's my first of the new year!

I've had success with a paste of lemon juice and baking soda. Crossing my fingers and hoping for the best

Thanks, a lot of people have said to try lemon juice so that will be my next port of call as soon as the shops re-open bear_original Here's hoping!

Gantaeno

In amongst all the faff with my sewing machine last term I was very kindly supplied with a copy of the Laing book on designing bear patterns by Ellen, in full awareness that my bear making was being ignored in favour of far stranger creatures :P

Then, my camera died, so now is really the first chance I’ve had to show you these photos: first my shiny trophy and bear from the British Bear Artist Awards; yey!

OldBear.jpg

And secondly, my new bear who is as yet un-named!  I only gave him a single neck joint which I’m coming to regret as his ‘realistic’ downwards pointing face is a little... too downwards I think!  I needle-felted his nose as well as his muzzle this time, onto a pre-sewn base which saved me a lot of wool!  I’ve never used quite as many darts either, and this is my first inset belly piece... my next bear from this pattern is a panda, but he’s just a head and a body in Durham  right now.

NewBear.jpg

I hope you all think I’ve improved a little since my competition entry bear_original  Many thanks to Ellen as well, who offered to send me this book when she heard how much  it would cost me to buy secondhand here in the UK.  Thank you!

I'll be selling him as soon as I get a new camera to take decent photos with (and as soon as he tells me his name!) but until then I hope you like him!

Chloe.

Gantaeno

Thanks for all the help and the advice bear_original (and the nice comments, it is a magical dress).

I've seen lemon juice given as an idea on a few sites, so maybe it's worth another try bear_original My main concern is that it's been through a washing machine with no changes, so maybe that means it's stained too deep... hopefully not.  I will copy your words of wisdom and prepare to stock up and try! (petrol? Woah, drastic!)  I have a few weeks (minus two lab reports) before I go back, so fingers crossed...)

As for the dry cleaners, they wouldn't touch it!  bear_rolleyes  It's a dress shop dress, and so hasn't got a 'dry clean only' label :P

Thanks guys bear_original

Gantaeno

Carbon Monoxide is a great fear for my family Jane, as our entire house is run on gas bear_sad  Good job you had an alarm eh?  I hape you're all ok, and have a restful New Year!

Gantaeno

As you all know by now I'm sure I am a poor poor student at Durham here in perpetually rainy England.  You may also know (thanks to my earlier plea for recipes!) that I am now fending for myself in a house rather than in College this year, which has been difficult in parts, but I'm afraid to say the pinnacle came when I discovered on packing, at the back of my wardrobe, my beautiful golden ball gown... covered in mildew.

medress.jpg
bear_sad:(:( (see? It is PURE MAGIC FIBRE)

I know it's just a dress, but unfortunately both times I've worn it I've felt invincible, so if anyone has any master ideas I'd be soooo grateful for them bear_original  We've used heat, light, magic stain removers AND I'm afraid have even stuck it in the washing machine, but the outer layer is still stained... I could consider having it replaced, but maybe dying it would work?

I have, by the way, been sewing since receiving my British Bear Artist Award from the lovely Dawn bear_laugh And I will post photos as soon as I can take them: my beloved and timeworn Samsung decided to go kaput this holiday too XD  I definitely need some input on this new bear, but more of that soon: any advice is gratefully received bear_original

Thanks bear_original
