I got a blue ribbon, red ribbon, a rosette & a trophy at the coastal doll & bear competition here in WA. I am well & truly chuffed.     AND  the patchwork square that I summited for the quilt for the  citizenship day celebration is to be unveiled on Thursday in Canberra. It's a bugga I couldn't accept the invitation, would have loved to have gone. Oh well...
It is one of a 140 that werechosen to make a quilt. I'm happy happy happy!

Rita I also am a bird lover. I have the most amazing budgie. He's across between a dog and a toddler. He has quite a large vocabulary. He actually speaks to me.

The wild parrots knock on the door in the morning when they want their breakfast. It only took 10 days to train them. & yes most of them are male.
                                                                                                 matilda.

Dear Kathy, no no no. I love my wee darlings fat too much to churn them out.
As we all know , a bear comes when he's go and ready.  The way it should be.
They're our passionate artistic creations.:cool:
When you don't create but only admire, what is it that draws you to a bear.????

At the moment I'm drawen to 'little Grrr'. I think he is adorable. Completely huggable.
I know I can't have this one, but bugga it I'm gunna get me one and soon!!!:lol:

Sorry Shari (pretty name) It is Gina's bear.
I cant seem to be able to do this cut and paste stuff. If I just type the link address here , could it be accessed from here? Because if so then I only then need to leave the link to my photo file. Which at the moment only houses a photo of my quilt.  Too late now to do all this . Will do it tommorrow.
Thankyou for replying so quickly!!!!!.

NO, sorry it is your bear Shari. I'm having trouble loading it. Am trying....

matilda

Is there a certain quality, a complicated detailing or a certain innocents?

matilda

Sorry , but have been looking for the original post about our first bears.
I have a photo of a ladies bear but am only able to email a link to my photo site.
I just can't seem to figure how to post to teddy talk.
My search is'nt going that well either. But am really getting into this.

I am sincerely interested in hearing what collectors look for when they choose a bear.
I know we are all different. .............

Chrissie, When designing and making my bears, I am full of energy, joy, fun and happiness. I find myself being very kind to those around me. I also laugh alot. Finding bears has been the best thing to ever to happen to me.
I find it emotionally saticfying.
The more bears I make the more ideas I get. I have to write them down so I wont forget. I have to try hard not to rush the bear I'm working on, just because I have another bear in mind.
The longer and more skill I gather, the more' detail 'goes into each bear.
I have an insatiable appetite to know everything . So I will be a bearcreator for a very long time.:D:lol:                    Play nicely     matilda

matilda

Wow!!! this bear is seriously cute!!!!!! I love him!!!!

matilda

I staple scrap pieces to the menu card to go with my pattern pieces before I pack them away.
I also keep my scraps and usually use as contrast pieces for ears, I use them for eye lids.  I also have them for sample pieces if I have to send them away or I go to a fair. I may nolonger have the bear, but I'll still have a saple of the mohair. etc.......... There are heaps of uses........ Matilda

matilda

Oh! Dilu, Mr Bosley is just too cute for words. Boy did you make me laugh.
If anyone is interested 2 1/2 inches is 6.5cm in metric.
Sorry but I can't figure things in the imperial system anymore. I keep having to convert.
But boy Dilu I love that Golli!!!!.     Matilda

matilda

I do this with the family all over aust & two neighbours. I'm in more contact with the world now than I have ever been.    Matilda
PS: sorry Daphne my quoting needs work. PSS: I've gathered Hundreds of $'s worth of imformation Off of you guys. It has all been invaluable to me.

matilda

Just curious !!!!! It seems that embroidered noses are still the norm  and being used on the felted creations.  I am actually surprised by this BECAUSE it never accured to me to embroider a nose......I just went ahead and felted one....the two, then three...you get the picture. I can not see my bears with any other type of nose. At the moment anyway. Maybe the different types of noses would make a good new topic, if anyone wantds to continue the conversation.  Am eager to hear your points of view.

Play nicely and be careful out there.....
Matilda

Judi I can see we are going to get along.
Shelli, what can I say......... Fremantle in western australia is in the middle of the indian ocean.  Always wondered why I was so wet behind the ears. Must've sprung a leak. In my profile I'm actually pinned in the correct spot. I even change the location and became more specific & said western aust. But I am still left in the middle of the ocean. Go figure.
My foam block is quite large. I will only felt on my lap when I'm doing the final bits of scultping, otherwise I'm at the table. Because the block is so large, I can rest my arm on it. I have ' fibromyalgia '(winney know's what this is) and find having support for my arm allows me to needle felt with close to impunity.
I've spent the last 4 years twiddling with a certain design. Only now has it come to fruitation. It has armature which means I dont have to stuff  hard, which means no pain. So this means I have more ability for felting. Which I might add, I LOVE.  There have been alot of new innovations in the last six years with bear making, but nothing has caught my imagination like felting. ( I wish something had taken my attention, it would be less painful)   I think you would find there would be more neck problems than RSI. So take care all & get up and do your stretch's. matildie

matilda

Rita stop trying & just BE.........that's when the magic happens. Is'nt it ladies?

matilda

Shantell lovely bear.    Just a wee tip though. Something I did'nt know about when I first started & no-one told me either, I had to find out for myself, is....that patterns come out differently with the different fabrics. A pattern designed for a mohair bear will come up nicely with synthetic BUT.. a bear designed with synthetic fabric in mind may not reciprocate. The professionals on here will be able to help you though. I'm only saying that it is a question to be asked. ok. (dont mean to scare you) matildie

matilda

Sorry no pics as yet. working on it though!.
Also have lost a needle tip. I've not yet found a way to remove them.Actually I very much doubt there is a way.
I just love the way I can create a complete personality. They are' true ' individuals. When the needle felting bug bites you , it bites hard. Because even the most excruciating pain from being harpooned by those barbaric hooked needles doesnt  stop you from the furious repetitve jabbing.

Scared yet. You should be, hahahahahhahahahahha............(she says with wicked evil laugh)lololol:lol::rolleyes::lol:
